FOTD: Neutrals on Location + the New Nude Lip You Need

The end of August is nigh, signaling the start of a new semester of lecturing!
Despite being in the classroom this week, I am excited to share an on-location face of the day which harnesses the power of neutrals, including the freshly-launched and unmitigatedly clever *Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes Lipstick, a nude lip lover’s dream trifecta.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and–of course–images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…

The Products.
Product Breakdown:
  • Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick in Sable (reviewed HERE): A few swipes on the face imparts natural medium coverage that simply looks like really good skin and the lasting power is divine…truly a foundation modern classic.
  • *Sisley-Paris Concealer #3 (reviewed HERE): I blended a touch of this warm beige in my undereye region to feign a more rested look than on-location experiences generally afford.
  • *Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Highlighter in Sahara (reviewed HERE): Although “highlighter” is in its moniker, I can get away with also using this utilitarian ombre palette as a bronzer. The deepest section works well in the hollows of my cheeks and perimeters of my face while the lightest section is at home on my upper cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose for a tender glow…simply brilliant.
  • *Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint in Poppy (reviewed HERE): Just a touch on the apples of my cheeks adds lit-from-within flush in a flattering warm pink hue. My favorite Creme Fresh Tint shade to date!
  • *Giorgio Armani Eye Tints in #12 Gold Ashes and #23 Camel Smoke (reviewed HERE): I blended the darker Camel Smoke on the upper eye lids and lower lash line and then swept the incandescent Gold Ashes up toward my brow bone.
  • *By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Blonde Opal (formula reviewed HERE): I finished my eye look with the indelible pale gold Blonde Opal right below my brow bone as a final transition shade for a neutral golden eye with major radiance.
  • *Givenchy Couture Noir Mascara: Fun fact…while shooting this makeup on the boat, I slipped and this mascara flew out of my hand and into the water. Fortunately, our boat was in the shallows and my husband dove down eight feet to retrieve it…talk about a hero ; ) Back to the formula: this mascara is jet black with immense lengthening and volumizing properties…so grateful it’s still in my possession!
  • *Oribe Nail Lacquer in The Nude (reviewed HERE): My most used nail polish of life, this creamy light nude epitomizes the notion of neutral..it neither leans cool nor warm and matches absolutely everything. So worth it.
  • Oribe Cote d’Azur Hair Refresher (reviewed HERE): A spritz on my hair for the addictive, transcendent peach-infused fragrance synonymous with Oribe, this travel spray also makes my hair feel fresher and fuller while on the go.

Style notes.
// Style Notes //
  • Michael Stars French Terry Off the Shoulder Top: I picked this top up on a whim at a small boutique and am so glad it is available online as I received many questions about its brand when I posted a picture in it earlier this month. The French terry has an excellent feel and the off the shoulder effect is demure and timeless. I want to buy this top in black, next!
  • FRAME Le High Skinny Ankle Jeans: My favorite brand of jeans ever, the fit, quality and comfort are unparalleled. I wear the Le High Skinny in a size 25.
  • Off-white booties: I got this particular pair a few years ago but found very similar options HEREHEREHERE and HERE. The color works well with my entire wardrobe and is an unexpected yet effortless option.
  • Longchamp Le Pliage Neo Mini Backpack: Ruff and tumble construction with a sophisticated edge, this backpack has been everywhere with me since June.
Beauty accoutrements from days gone by.
Relics of the past…so glad that corsets aren’t a regular requirement of modern life!
