Chantecaille Fall 2016: How a Nude Lip and a Warm Smoky Eye Can Protect the Lions

Elements from the Chantecaille Protect the Lions Collection.
The limited-edition *Chantecaille Protect the Lions Collection for Fall 2016 (also available at Nordstrom) recently arrived at counters, bringing the beauty of the majestic lions of Kenya into our hands and hearts.  As with many seasonal releases from Chantecaille, this particular collection focuses on a worthy cause that enhances the lives of the animals that roam our earth.
A percentage of the proceeds from the gorgeous Protect the Lions Palette will benefit the Lion Guardians, an organziation dedicated to fostering harmony and co-existence between the Maasai tribes and the lions in their area so the lions can thrive, rather than being hunted.  The warm smoky eye and creamy nude lip that this collection imparts is alluring and the reality that a lion may be saved in the process is wildly inspiring.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the collection in action as well as the Bottom Line…

The *Chantecaille Protect the Lions Palette (also available at Nordstrom) contains four delicately embossed eyeshadows:
  • Sand: A glistening pearl beige
  • African Topaz: A incandescent copper
  • Amboseli: A rich, universally flattering burgundy.
  • Rock: A matte neutral gray-meets-taupe.
Finely-milled and possessing excellent color-payoff, this quad is extremely versatile and wearable.  The neutral shades harmoniously blend together  and the resulting warm, smoky eye is equally appropriate for both day and night. In summation, get this gem if you can

Next, the *Chantecaille Lion Pride Cheek Color (also available at Nordstrom) creates a glowing, tender pink cheek that simply cannot be overdone.  The powder acts as a veil of color, draping cheeks in a rosy nude hue that, once experienced, will likely become your go-to. Its ease of application and subtle luminous nature make this blush a beautiful investment.

Finally, the *Chantecaille Lipstick in Mirage (also available at Nordstrom) is a nude lip lover’s dream.  The pinky beige hue boasts a creamy and hydrating formula that has immense pigmentation and a slightly shiny finish that catches the light while wearing comfortably for hours. It is for these reasons that I am glad that this Mirage is not a mirage…it truly exists and can be ordered HERE

To create a complete look, I used the following products:
  • *La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer and Foundation in Caramel Beige (also available at Neiman Marcus and reviewed HERE): I cannot stress enough how much I love this foundation. It offers luminous medium coverage while completely nourishing and caring for my skin. I use it multiple times a week, which, in my vast collection of foundation, is saying something profound!
  • Bobbi Brown Instant Confidence Stick (reviewed HERE): Just a touch of this “magic wand” over fine lines and obvious pores perfects the skin in seconds and its ability to also mattify makes it a mighty multitasker.
  • *Armani Sun Fabric #600 (reviewed HERE): I adore this bronzer for a warm tan effect; the brown is rich without being overpowering and the finely milled formula blends with ease.
  • *Chantecaille Lion Pride Cheek Color (also available at Nordstrom): Applied to the apples of my cheeks.
  • *Chikuhodo GSN 04 Cheek Brush (also reviewed HERE): One of my favorite cheek brushes, I used it to blend the blush on the apples of my cheeks.
  • *Chantecaille Protect the Lions Palette (also available at Nordstrom): I focused the darker brown shade on the center of my lid and blended the lighter bronze shade around it for a dual wash of color. A touch of the matte taupe grey in the crease and a sweep of the luminous pearl along my brow bone and inner corners of my eyes completed the look.
  • *By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Beyond Gold: I don’t know why it took me so long to try this particular shade but now that I have, I cannot imagine life without it. The pale gossamer gold shade works well on its own, or in the case below, as a transitional blending shade up to the brow bone and along my lower lash line. Simply sublime.
  • *Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Defining 24 Hour Liquid Liner in Gilded Brown: Recently launched and utterly gorgeous, this liquid liner features a super fine brush for precise application and a luminous yet indelible formula that glides on and stays put for hours on end.  I haven’t yet given it the 24 hour test but I am sure I’ll have the chance in the coming days once I head back to lecturing next week ; ) Gilded Brown is a golden medium brown that I applied close to the upper lash line and gently winged out for a bit of neutral drama.
  • *Edward Bess Fully Defined Brow Duo in Neutral (also reviewed HERE): This two-side retractable pencil shapes up and polishes brows in seconds; I use the brown side to add depth and dimension and I run the genius pink highlighter along the base of my brows to “make them pop.”
  • *Chantecaille Lipstick in Mirage (also available at Nordstrom): The opacity of this shade enabled me to create a full lip with two coats; no primer or liner necessary!
  • *lilah b. Aglow Facial Mist: This sophisticated new mist from the minimalist beauty brand lilah b. infuses mineral water with unique essences including knot grass, fig extract and brown algae to firm, balance and brighten skin for a dewy glow that positively revitalizes the complexion. I used it as a final step in my makeup application process to set everything while adding a natural radiance to my visage.

// STYLE NOTES // This particular outfit is an ultra-casual one.  Worn with the right pair of shoes and accessorized with a denim jacket perhaps and the culminating look is entirely apropos to run errands or lounge at your favorite coffee shop:
  • Ragdoll LA Vintage Tee in Dark Army:  On seriously heavy rotation, this tee has the pefect fit–not too loose, not too tight–and the rich army tone is extremely versatile
  • Ragdoll LA Lace Up Shorts: Constructed of cotton and wildly comfortable, these shorts feature braided leather laceup detailing and pockets (!!) for chic lounging…oh, and they are currently on sale.
  • Elizabeth and James Neri Kira Choker (also reviewed HERE): Stil fused to my neck, I love that this choker works just as well with casual separates (above and below) as it does with dresses and workwear.
