Birthday Recap!

Above: I started the day completely surprised by the arrival of a beautiful birthday bouquet from the RoC Skincare PR Team…I am thrilled to have been asked to be a RoC Ambassador again, this time for 2014!
Ten days have rapidly passed since my birthday (1/4) and I figured I better finish this recap post before a new month is upon us!
Kindly scroll on for some images from my day…
Above: I started with a spritz of my newly procured fragrance, Balenciaga’s Rosabotanica.  A full review on this intoxicating elixir live on the blog in a day or two!
Above: One birthday gift to myself was to reorganize my office (completed the day before!), which has yielded a new sense of sanity for my stash of makeup and skincare waiting to be reviewed.  Ahh…the nuanced challenges of a beauty blogger!
Above: Birthday makeup involved tried and true favorites including Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Cream Foundation (this time, lightly applied over a IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Cream…review on this wonder soon!), By Terry Ombre Blackstar Bronze Moon + Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in Initiation on the lids and Kanebo Sensai Ususakura lip color topped with a bit of Tom Ford gloss in Naked
Above: One of my birthday gifts was this silver cuff from the 1940’s…aesthetically, this totally reminds me of something straight from the movie “Leave Her to Heaven.”
Above: An antique Art Deco glass tray from my brother.  I suspect this will pop up in many of my cosmetics images ; )
Above: We went to the Getty Center in LA for a leisurely afternoon amongst stunning architecture and views.
Above: My dear family…arriving at the Getty Center
Above: Tyler and me ; )
Above: A view of the Hollywood Hills…the mansions below are insane.
Some of my favorite pieces of art in the collection…can you name the artist?

Above: Of course, Jethro came and the museum guards loved visiting with him!
Above: A view of Los Angeles from the heights of the Getty Center…the lighting actually makes traffic hauntingly lovely, no?
Above: My new birthday camera…this is utterly transforming my picture taking process!
Bottom Line:  I feel so blessed to have had a wonderful birthday with my family…a simple day in gorgeous surroundings…what else could a girl hope for?   I have a plethora of new makeup and skincare posts in the works (Balenciaga fragrance, Surratt powder, Guerlain eye and lip cream, lip color galore, just to name a few)…can’t wait for them to come to fruition in the coming weeks!
Also, I’ll be attending IMATS LA this weekend (1/18-19) as press (any of my LA BP readers attending?!)  and will be taking a host of pictures to properly document this premiere makeup event…a full overview on the horizon ; )  Read all about my experience at IMATS last year HERE

Happy belated birthday, dear friend! I feel a bit sheepish that it slipped by me. I am glad to hear you had a wonderful birthday, and I can't wait to hear more about your spoils!

Oh, and I have almost finished a jar of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness. I absolutely adore this stuff. It is the first "foundation" I will finish in a long time. And, I will be repurchasing. It has made a huge difference in concealing the redness I have.

You, of course, look stunning in all your pics. I am really toying with the idea of getting that Kanebo foundation. I can tell how much you love it, which is endorsement enough!

Hope all is well. Talk soon!

    xoxo,
    Kate

      Hello dear Kate!

Wonderful to hear from you…no need for sheepishness…your sentiments today warmed my heart! I love that you've been loving IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness; it was such a pleasant surprise for me. The coverage and match are perfect and I can't believe it took me this long to try it!

Thank you for your sweet compliment about my pics…the Kanebo foundation is truly wonderful and the combo with the IT product is insane ; )

Hope all is well in your end of the world as well…xoxo, talk (and text!) soon and have a beautiful weekend!

      Hello Anon!

Thank you ever so much for the birthday wishes and generous compliment! For skincare, I am wearing the NUDE ProGenius Oil and Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge, followed by a combination of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness and Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Cream Foundation. One the cheeks, I am wearing Daniel Sandler Sculpt and Slim for contour and highlight and a bit of Illamasqua blush in Katie (a pale matte pink) on the apples of my cheeks. I think I put a dot or two of the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation Illuminator in Sheer Beige on my cheekbones and for lips, a mixture of Kanebo Sensai Ususakura lip color with a touch of Tom Ford bloss in Naked on top!

Hope that helps…xoxo and happy weekend to you!

      Thank you for the details!

I have been following your blog for the past year and I don't even know you personally…but I love the closeness and love for your family that shows through your blog. I know that's not beauty related, but it really warms my heart.

On a side note, can you please share where you get you hair done and your stylist? I've gone to many salons but it's so hard to find the "one".

      Thanks again! 🙂

      My pleasure!

I so appreciate your kind observations…my family and I are really close and I am beyond thankful to have them in my life ; ) Thanks for being a loyal follower!

I actually don't get my hair done by an official stylist…the color is natural and my mom (who used to cut hair years ago and still cuts the hair of everyone in my immediate family) cuts my hair a couple of times a year. Totally low maintenance ; ) When I used to color it (there was a period in graduate school where I went super dark brown), I went to Eva at Just Us For Hair in Seal Beach and she is incredible. Skilled, kind and consistent…a perfect combination!

I wish you the best in your search and look forward to keeping in touch!

Jethro is so special…he is basically a perfect guest everywhere he goes. As the museum guard said, "he is better behaved than most people" ; )

Hope you are having a beautiful weekend!
