A Perfect Day Pictorial: Behind the Doors of Maison Sisley-Paris, a Musee Rodin Look + a Black Rose Giveaway

At Maison Sisley in Paris, France.
This story is a image-laden homage to a recent, singularly blissful day in Paris…beginning with an appointment at the the famed Maison Sisley and finishing with a fiery sunset over the Seine, we managed to fit as much as humanly possible into a mere 12 hours.
Kindly scroll on for a peek behind the doors Maison Sisley, the products I used for the day, our (mis)adventures at the Musee Rodin and the details for a Sisley-Paris Black Rose giveaway as well as the Bottom Line…
Maison Sisley.
Nestled on a quiet street but a stone’s throw away from both the Champs Elysees and the Arch de Triomphe, the Maison Sisley is a haven for beauty lovers seeking the ultimate spa experience while in Paris. Boasting a stunning boutique, five luxurious treatment rooms a decadent lounge and the eclectic Sisley Cafe, this opulent house directly reflects the supreme taste of the d’Ornano family (Sisley-Paris founders) and possesses an endless supply of wonder.
The boutique offers the full range of Sisley-Paris skincare and color as well as Maison Sisley exclusives. The gorgeous handpainted wallpaper from 1874 called “the cells” by Jacques Emile Ruhlmann.
The newly-launched Sisley-Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream…more on this at the end of the post!
Stunning features, including this profile door handle (designed by Bronislaw Krzysztov) contribute the classic yet unforgettable nature of the decor.
One of the treatment rooms.
The Sisley Cafe…the lights are designed by the Spanish artist Alvaro Catalan de Ocon and are made from recycled plastic bottles woven by Columbian women.
My treatment room details.
After exploring Maison Sisley, I was led to my treatment room and was transfixed by every detail. From the well-appointed changing room to the serene lighting, every element was considered and attended to, delivering the ultimate in a professional yet entirely comfortable environment.
There was even a lacquered box to house my jewelry during the treatment (I’ve found a wonderful array of vintage Cartier at The Real Real).
Just prior to my body treatment…a one-hour Swedish massage.  The lighting, aromatherapy (employing a host of Sisley-Paris products) and skilled hands of my clinician, Julia, collectively made it an exquisite experience.
My favorite room in Maison Sisley…the Salon.
Directly following my treatment, which was a transcendent Swedish massage (perfect to combat the jet-lag, tension and exhaustion I’d been battling for days), I was led to the Salon, where I basked in a newfound sense of relaxation while drinking freshly brewed green tea. This room is the quintessential fusion of timeless botanical notes and mid-century modern appeal…can this be my living room, please?  All in all, Maison Sisley is a must for visitors in Paris on a quest for a next-level architectural, design, beauty and spa experience!

Relaxed and ready to face the rest of the day on the India Mahdavi-designed sofa..
Thank you, truly, Maison Sisley for your incredible hospitality…I hope to one day return!
The Arch de Triomphe…majestic, no?
Upon leaving I meandered down the street to the Arch de Triomphe, which looked every bit as picturesque as I imagined…I met up with my husband, who was busy with his own meeting that morning and we headed into the second half of our day.
Skincare etc.
// THE PRODUCTS //  For a 12+ hour day, I used products that would prepare, protect and nourish my skin while holding up in heat and humidity.

Skincare Etc.:
  • *Stop the Water While Using Me Natural Toothpaste (reviewed HERE): I am now almost finished with this healthy yet effective toothpaste and its moniker is a great reminder during sink time.
  • *FOREO Luna Play Plus: I am major FOREO fan and love that this new version–which I use morning and night–and this version takes a battery, which is perfect for me as I feel like I’m already charging a million things a day as it is.
  • *Milk Makeup Matcha Toner: Just a swipe of this travel friendly stick tones skin, smooths pores and brighten the complexion in seconds.
  • *Sisley-Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream (reviewed HERE): This bouncy and nourishing cream served as both a moisturizer and a glowing primer for the makeup to come. The gel texture is light yet potent, acting as an excellent companion to my summertime skin.
  • *Sisley-Paris Eye Contour Mask (reviewed HERE): Dabbed along the orbital region, this mask (which I treat as a cream) truly reduces dark circles, puffiness and fatigue while imparting a lovely and radiant sense of hydration.
  • *Stacked Skincare Hydrating Lip Peel (reviewed HERE): Smooths lips for effortless lip color application.
  • *Eve Lom Kiss Mix in Demure (formula reviewed HERE): This dreamy balm–with its pale pink glow and slightly minty flavor–is a great precursor to lipstick.
  • *SK-II Mid-Day Essence (reviewed HERE): Always in my purse, the Pitera-rich formula keeps my skin fresh and incandescent over the course of a long day.

The Musee Rodin.
// THE MUSEE RODIN LOOK // We raced to the Musee Rodin for the last half hour that it was open…the guard wouldn’t let us purchase tickets in line (apparently, we missed the deadline) but told us if we purchased them on the website, he would let us explore the garden for 25 minutes. While my husband hurriedly worked to execute the transaction on his phone, another couple from the US (who had to catch flight home that evening) arrived to the bad news that they wouldn’t be able to enter as well.
When told that they could try to purchase their tickets online, they dejectedly said they didn’t have the Internet on their phones…we offered to buy their tickets for them and the four of us–united if for only an instant through technology–excitedly headed into the bountiful gardens for an ephemeral, yet unforgettable experience.
New friends, brought together by a mutual need for technology.
Off we went to explore and capture the Musee Rodin Garden…the impeccable landscaping and iconic sculptures will forever be emblazoned in my mind.

The following images reflect the products earlier discussed in action…considering it was late afternoon by the time we shot this, they proved to hold up magnificently.

// Style Notes //

The eye look.

Sometimes, one must bid a temporary farewell to decorum.
Sad because the museum was closing and we still had so much we wanted to see.
The day ended with a breathtaking sunset over the Seine on a bridge near the Louvre…magical doesn’t even begin to adequately describe it!
Running to dinner? Running to my husband? Running to Le Bon Marche? We shall never know.
A staple in my summer skin routine thus far…the *Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream.

I've been hearing amazing things about the cream and would love to try it!

As far as a perfect day, my most recent was during a family trip to Grenada. After days of reconnecting with relatives, I snuck away to a private resort and spent hours doing nothing but lounging in the sun and playing in the waves. Perfect, indeed! najeema1983 (a) gmail.com.

I have been dying to try this cream!

My husband and I had close to a perfect day on our fifth anniversary. We went to two of our favorite restaurants and spent the day at the Scripps Aquarium. Simple and so fun, just the two of us. I hope we can make a perfect day in Paris sooner than later!

One of my favorite days was when my husband and I went to San Diego and we spent the evening just walking by the water and watching the sunset. I also loved that our hotel had a wine hour! There are plenty of amazing days so it's hard to choose. Honestly, any time I get to spend with my husband is a perfect day but I love especially when we get to travel somewhere new together. As for the cream, I have tried a sample and it was AMAZING!!! My combination skin loved it. I can't get over the gel-cream to water texture!! The best I've tried. Email: kp_516[at]yahoo.com

Hi Rachel I would love to try the Sisley black rose cream. I actually went to Nordstrom's yesterday to try to get a sample of it so I can see what it's like. Sadly they were out of samples. My perfect day was a day where I recently woke up feeling refreshed because I had a great nights sleep. We went into DC to do some touristy sightseeing and just had a really nice, easy, relaxing and interesting day that everybody enjoyed. We ended the day with wine and cheese and at an outdoor spot with music. The weather was beautiful and it was a perfect day!

I would love to try the cream. I have loved all the Sisley products I have tried and my dehydrated, sensitive skin could use all the help it can get.
A perfect day was spent wandering around Mackinac Island. While my family went biking, I got to spend time exploring antique stores and sipping tea on the lake. Then everyone took a carriage ride and explored the old fort, ending the day with dinner on a golf course. It was a super relaxing wonderful day.

I have a mommy and me day with each of my kids every other month. They take turn to hanging out with me and we would do whatever she/he wants. It helps me get to know my kids better and helps me understand what's important to them. Therefore, those days spent with my kids are perfect days for me.

I am always in need and searching for a great moisturizer and glowing primer in one I think this would be a good addition to my daily routine therefore I would love to try it. Thanks!

A perfect day for me was seeing the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. The green, the ocean, the breeze, the sun- it was all so fairy-tale like and magical. I'd love to go back again in my lifetime. I'd love to try the cream because Sisley is known for its skincare and superior ingredients- the Black Rose cream sounds like a treat for the skin.

I spent the day wandering around Florence and felt like I was in the middle of a pirate treasure horde when crossing the Ponte Vecchio. The weather was perfect, and the light was golden.
I would like to try the cream because your description is intriguing. I enjoy your blog, as our skin tones are similar, so I can always get an idea of how the color will work on me. I enjoy your descriptive language, I always think vocabulary is underrated, and it makes it much more of an enjoyable read.

I would love to try this cream. I love this Sisley line and I have owned both the oil and mask and truly love them. My perfect day for sure, had to be about 3 weeks ago when my family and I went on a Disney Cruise on the first day that we docked their private island in the Bahamas. Waking up to the turquoise ocean and beautiful tropical island was the best! Followed by a day on the pristine beach was priceless. This awesome day will be hard to top!! email: marsnkev[at]gmail.com

What a beautiful day you've shared with us! So glad you got a quick spin around the gardens, how gorgeous. Loved your sad face picture.

Most recently I had a perfect day enjoying a trip to the Bay area to visit my sister. We've always been close but now that she has a cute little boy to take care of, our visits are less frequent. (I know you also have strong appreciation for the sibling love with your amazing bro!) We had a great old time trying on each other's clothes, discussing hair updates, comparing makeup bags and of course, eating! My husband and I also hiked Mount Diablo, giving us the nature fix we'd been longing for together. What a day!! Thanks for the opportunity to relive it.

I'd love a chance to try the Sisley Black Rose Cream with this amazing giveaway! I love the mask and often wear it as a rich cream to help my skin recover from several years of strong medical treatment, but it's too heavy for all the time. I've been wondering if the cream is the answer?? The rose scent makes me so happy. I've earmarked the spa as a place to hit whenever I make it back to Paris! Looks divine.

My email is jennhalpern(at)gmail(dot)com. Have a lovely week Rachel!

Thank you for your lovely post and for sharing your thoughts and experiences on so many excelsior places and products from your jaunt to Paris. <3 I have been visiting Paris since I was seven years old and I adore Parisian fashion, shopping, cosmetics, and beauty products. My mother introduced me to Sisley-Paris ages ago and I have loved the company ever since. My current face moisturizer is one from Tatcha, but I really want to try Sisley's new Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream. In your post, you mentioned one of your top three favorite foundations. I was wondering what the other two are? I am curious to see if one of Tom Ford's foundations (your lovely swatches always help me select the perfect products by the way) made your top three foundations list. One of my favorite days was a little over a week ago in Los Angeles. After finishing filming with my best friend Ophelia, and checking out of the hotel the show booked for us, I went to Larchmont for brunch with my really good friend Missy (she and I became friends in Chicago years ago, prior to her move out to LA). We had a lovely lunch at Café Gratitude. Since my fiancé Martin and I are both vegans, it was lovely to go to an organic vegan restaurant for brunch. Afterward, we went shopping on Larchmont. Since I had purchased a lot of new Tom Ford Beauty products the night before with Ophelia at the Sephora on Hollywood Blvd., I focused on purchasing items to bring back to my fiancé (Martin), since he was at home with our Frenchie named Eddie (she is a ten year old cream French Bulldog and retired mill mamma… I named her Eddie from one of the main characters on the British comedy show called Absolutely Fabulous). Since Martin has worked in high fashion (predominately men's and women's ready to wear) for over a decade, I was able to find a lot of rare and hard to find high-end fashion magazines at the magazine shop outside of the Rite-Aid. Since I have slowly be educating him on the importance of using high quality skincare products daily, I picked him up a few items at a couple of the amazing cosmetic/beauty stores on Larchmont. I took an Uber to the airport to fly back to Jackson Hole (where my fiancé, our Frenchie, and I are temporarily living). Sadly, since it was the long weekend for the Fourth of July, AA overbooked my flight and I was forced to wait until the following day to fly home. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I was able to get a discounted room at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was the perfect way to de-stress and pamper myself prior to my flight out of LAX the following afternoon. I was even able to squeeze in some shopping at Bloomingdale's at the Beverly Center before my flight and was able to purchase my fiancé some new clothes and a new Tom Ford fragrance for each of us. All in all, it was a fabulous day. And the one seemingly dark cloud (of my bags being on the flight without me), turned out to have a silver lining. My fiancé picked up my bags from the airport and I was able to get some much needed R&R at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills and a little bit more retail therapy at the Beverly Center prior to my rescheduled trek home to the loves of my life.
Thanks for your thoughtful and eloquent posts. x
    Take care,
    Sarah

Thank you for allowing us to relive the trip with you – beautiful photos and story!

Most recently, I had the opportunity to visit my long-distance boyfriend, and the opportunity to simply be in each other's presence and do mundane things like grocery shopping and grabbing a cup of coffee were just so perfect. It was one of those moments where you pause and think, "Hey, life is pretty grand." I'm getting sentimental just typing this!

This Sisley cream has me so intrigued! I've sampled the Black Rose Mask and loved the results, so this water cream has been calling my name. The price, though! That is tough to swallow. I'd be overjoyed to win it in a giveaway.

My perfect day that I can remember was when I was vacationing in Vietnam with my family. We went to this beautiful island and private beach. It was the perfect weather and the water was perfectly warm. We had such a great time on that beach and later went and had a great dinner! It was a truly incredible experience. I would love to try this cream because it has rose in it which is perfect for my dry skin!

Paris is on my travel list.

The day that brings me happiness is my wedding. It went by in a blur, and I'd love to relive it or have a redo (maybe a vow renewal at the 10-year).

I'd like to try the Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream because it's a Cream but also lightweight and gel.

Thanks for sharing the details and lovely photos from a perfect and memorable day in Paris. I hope to return there one day soon! Memories of a recent perfect day for me took place on the tiny island of Vieques near Puerto Rico. My husband, two daughters and I flew in a tiny plane to spend a week at the W Hotel on this beautiful island with pristine beaches and freely wandering horses. We went scuba diving with a dive master, relaxed around pool, and took a outdoor yoga class overlooking the beach. After a delicious dinner, we met up with a tour guide to explore the island's bioluminescent bay by kayak. It was an amazing experience I'll never forget, made all that much better because it was shared with the people I love the most. I have a few Sisley cosmetic items, but haven't tried any of their skin care. I'd love to try the Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream because I find products with rose very soothing to my sensitive skin and a lightweight gel cream is perfect for me in the hot humid climate we have during the summer. Thanks for the giveaway!
