January FOTD: Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets + Marc Jacobs Omega Lash + Five Years of Beauty Professor

I hope your 2017 is off to a marvelous start! This week, I celebrate both a birthday and the fifth anniversary of Beauty Professor; I am grateful for another year of life and am over the moon that this blog has become such an integral part of my existence.  Thank you, truly, for your loyalty, support and encouragement all these years!
Today, I am excited to share a fresh Face of the Day, featuring discoveries from Burberry–namely, the gorgeous Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (also available at Sephora) and Eye Contours–as well as the Marc Jacob Omega Lash Mascara…this story has swatches galore as well as a culminating look featuring all four of the Lip Velvets I procured.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…

First, I’ve been using a lot of the *Chanel La Solution 10 de Chanel (reviewed HERE); it hydrates, balances and creates a velvety finish that makes skin smooth and healthy looking.  Before foundation, I love a pump of the *Burberry Festive Fresh Glow in Nude Radiance (reviewed HERE) to add a soft radiance that makes skin look lit from within. This limited edition formula is superb!
For base, I buffed on the *Hourglass Vanish Foundation in Beige (discussed HERE with swatches of every shade HERE) with a damp Beauty Blender.  Then, I swept the *Sisley-Paris Photo-Touche Sun Glow Bronzing Gel-Powder (reviewed HERE) in the hollows of my cheeks and along the perimeters of my face to gently contour and warm things up.  I recently rediscovered this remarkable bronzer and, consequently, have been reaching for it frequently.  The finely milled texture glides on, mimicking a cream, and becomes one with the skin for a sublimely natural finish. For blush, I dabbed a touch of the *La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Peach Glow (reviewed HERE) on the apples of my cheeks; with just the right balance between flush and luminosity to brighten the face, this blush is exceptional.  I used my *Surratt Beauty Artistique Highlight Brush (reviewed HERE) to apply the *Stila All Over Shimmer Duo in Kitten along the high points of my face (upper cheek bones, brow bones and down the bridge of the nose). This classic illuminating duo has pale pink and soft tan shades for a subtle finish that catches the light for an ethereal effect.

To set everything, I embraced the new Burberry Cashmere Foundation Compact in Ochre.  This freshly-released powder has a luxurious velvety texture and significant medium to full coverage.  I didn’t use the enclosed sponge (hygienically located on the lower level of the compact) for this particular application and, instead, opted for a fluffy brush to create an even and diffused look.  The unscented powder is magnificent and Ochre is a befitting match for my NC 25 skin. Excellent for setting and touch ups alike, this powder creates a smooth and flawless canvas that looks balanced and fresh…it’s simply divine.

To create a neutral smoky eye, I tried the Burberry Eye Color Contour Smoke & Sculpt Pen in Rosewood and Pale Copper as an overall wash of color.  After having read a myriad of very positive reviews for this fairly new formula, I was compelled to order for myself and my mom.  So far, I am very impressed with the color payoff, velvety texture and creaseless lasting power of the formula.  Rosewood is a neutral rosy medium taupe and Pale Copper is a luminous copper bronze.  Both have a  muted satin finish that is forgiving and easy to blend without being the slightest bit glittery in nature.
I also brightened up my under eye region with the *lilah b. Virtuous Veil Concealer & Eye Primer in B. Radiant (reviewed HERE) and recently discovered that this multitasking gem works well to neutralize pigmented lips while still keeping them hydrated…bonus!
For mascara, I applied two coats of the Marc Jacobs Omega Lash Mascara in Garnet (more on this formula below), followed by a single coat of the *Lancome Grandiose Extreme in Black (reviewed HERE) for extra intensity.

The *Marc Jacobs Omega Lash Mascara comes in some of the most vibrant colors I have ever encountered:
  • Violet Incredible: A lush purple
  • Think Ink: A deep indigo blue
  • Peacock: A creamy teal green
  • Garnet: A rich red wine
  • All About Yves: A vivid periwinkle blue
Designed to add potent length and volume to lashes while also imparting magnificent color, these mascaras–which wear beautifully without smudging or flaking–are entirely unique in my collection. Due to their instant wearability, I am most partial to the wine Garnet shade and the stunning Violet Incredible but look forward to experimenting with the other shades in the coming days.

What it is:
A lash-expanding, ultra volumizing mascara designed to deliver high-drama lashes.

What it does:
Get full lashes that make eyes pop with this water-based mascara formula from Marc Jacobs. It incorporates a special size-increasing blend of rice bran, bayberry, carob, and African acacia tree extracts for maximum lash-expanding impact. The essential oils deeply condition lashes, while vitamins B5 and C strengthen and hold them in place for even longer wear. The innovative double brush features an advanced design that’s formed by stitching together two different brushes: one for enhanced lash separation, and another for mega-volume and curl. Together, the full-body mascara formula and dual brush design lengthen, curl, define, and volumize lashes so that they’re longer, louder, and blacquer than ever before.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

Finally, the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (also available at Sephora) completed the lip look.  This brand new formula has been on my radar for awhile and I was excited to order four shades in the peachy/pinky/nude family to which I gravitate:
  • Light Nude: A pale beige…quite light…which would look lovely on fair skin tones.  I’ll likely be using this particular shade to lighten up darker shades rather than wearing it on its own.
  • Fawn Rose (also available on Burberry.com): A light mauve pink nude…probably my favorite from this particular quartet, due to its ease of wear and propensity to make lips look fuller.
  • Peach: A bright–nearly 1960s–coral peachy pink with intense pigmentation.
  • Fawn: A deep rose nude…sure to be a favorite with a spectrum of skin tones seeking a classic neutral option.
The Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (also available at Sephora) has a whipped liquid texture that feels exceptionally creamy on the lips.  Boasting terrific color payoff, a single swipe creates magnificent opacity and a creamy effect that lasts for hours.
I find that, despite the semi-matte finish, my lips stay comfortably hydrated over the duration of wear.  Along with its dreamy whipped composition, it is this reality that sets the Liquid Lip Velvet formula apart from traditional liquid matte lip colors. All in all, I am thrilled with my purchase and even have my eye on additional shades for the future!

The Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet is marked by its plush doe foot applicator and frosted lucite square tube.
