| Le Metier de Beatue Classic Flawless Foundation offers SPF 8, medium to full coverage and a lasting satin finish. |
My recent six days in Palm Beach Florida were glorious...the sun, mild humidity, beautiful Breakers hotel and surrounding Singer Island made this California girl feel like she was truly somewhere far away. Because I know that I will get sun in a tropical state, no matter how much sunscreen I apply (for the record, I used plenty of Sunday Riley Cashmere on my face and stayed my normal NC 25--reviewed HERE), I packed some darker foundations (likely what contributed to my 70 lb. suitcase) so that my face would match my newly tanned body. What I didn't anticipate, however, is that I would get the chance to try and fall in love with a new foundation, namely Le Metier de Beaute Classic Flawless Foundation, while away!
Nestled on the tree lined Worth Avenue resides Neiman Marcus, which houses the lovely Le Metier de Beaute counter that I visited twice while in town. On my first visit (which was prompted by torrential rain...no pool time for us that day!), I was fortunate to work with LMdB Specialist, Delbert Faires, and LMdB National Trainer, Melory Johnson who helped me select a lip creme duo (Two Lips, to be reviewed soon, is one of my new favorite peachy pink shades) and generously sent me back to the Breakers with two sample shades of the Classic Foundation in #7 and #9, which, in combination, could match whatever tan I managed to gain during the week. My husband and I both had such an entertaining and enjoyable time visiting with Delbert, Melory and Ami (pictured below)...they are definite assists to the LMdB brand!

| Day #2 with Delbert Faires, the Beauty Professor and Ami Scrittorale at the Worth Avenue Neiman Marcus Le Metier de Beaute counter. |
I started wearing the foundation the very next day, mixing two thirds of the #7 with a third of the #9 and headed off to the pool. I couldn't believe how well this foundation held up in the sunlight, humidity and even an occasional drizzle. Applied with my Sephora Airbrush, this medium-to-full coverage foundation made my skin poreless and even toned; even though it is not touted as high definition, it was very difficult to perceive the product on my skin when looking in the mirror. That reality is high definition enough for me! Additionally, this non scented foundation was gentle to my extremely sensitive skin...no breakouts or unsavory reactions...just smooth, glowing, even and perfected skin. In many cases, I didn't even set the foundation with powder!
While I have used many LMdB lip products (my praises for Miami and Palm Springs Color Core Lipstick can be found HERE), I never really gave thought to the foundation because I've had my hands full with some other marvelous products. I am, however, really glad that this trip yielded the discovery because I envision myself using this all summer!
I was so excited about the performance of the Le Metier de Beaute Classic Flawless Foundation that on my second trip to Neiman's, I bought both #7 and #9 and subsequently swatched all twelve shades! FYI: The boxes are labeled with Roman numerals (hence my labels in the images above and below), but I noticed that the LMdB website uses traditional Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3...) so hopefully that clarifies the numbering system.
At quick glance (it was our last stop before heading to the airport and, therefore, a bit rushed!), shades 1-4 are suitable for NC/NW 15-20 skin tones, shades 5-9 are suitable for NC/NW 25-35 skin tones and shades 10-12 are perfect for NC 40 and above.

I am so interested in trying this foundation! I'm contemplating between this and Burberry's Velvet Foundation since I think they both yield medium to full coverage, which is what I want. However, I live two and a half hours away from the nearest LMdB counter. I am in the MAC NC25/MUFE 120/YSL Touche Eclat Foundation B40 range. I have the typical Asian skin tone with yellow undertones. Should I get this in 5 or 6? Please help!
ReplyDeleteHello!
DeleteThis is a wonderful foundation for those seeing medium to full coverage...we sound like similar skin tones and I am now wearing the #7 alone (rather than mixing it with the #9...that was a better combo with my deep summer tan). Here are the shade descriptions according to LMdB:
Shade #5, a true “medium,” this hue is perfect for a wide variety of actual skin colors. Anyone with a light to medium, medium, or medium to dark complexion can wear this color. If you are fair, it will reveal a naturally looking tan, if you are a slightly darker medium, than it will brighten the complexion. It contains both cool and warm tones.
Shade #6 is for a medium complexion (light tan) with no redness.
Shade #7 is a popular medium tan. Cool toned, with a warm glow. A perfect blend of gold and pink, with a light tan. The hue appears peachy-apricot in tone, and again, a wide variety of skin colors can wear this shade.
It is totally up to you...I hope this helps...please keep me posted!

Hiya BP!
ReplyDeleteI saw you asking about the brand of "Wake Me Up" foundation...I'm pretty sure its Rimmel..if not, then its probably Bourjois...both get a really good review & are nice & cheap!! You can check them out on eChemist UK..
I'm writing this time just to get a further idea of shading for my current skin shade..Over here we're coming into winter...and I'm really stuck between the #4 & #5 of this product, Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge Classic Flawless Foundation..you've suggested either number for me...lol...now I'm really stuck!!! I prefer to keep it as close as possible, I don't tan & prefer to steer clear of the darker "tan" look.
I'm hoping you can help me pick just one to start with, rather than my buying both at once!!!..lol...being that I'm now a massive foundation junkie I guess I'll end up buying the 2nd choice later anyway:D
I think I must be around NW20 to at most 25 pink undertones - no yellows!!...The By Terry Sheer Cover #4 Rosy Beige is a great match for my skin at the moment..the #8 is tad dark....Is the #4 in the Peau Vierge any teeny bit darker than an NW/NC20?? The #5 of the Peau Vierge looks very similar to the Kevyn Aucoin SSE in #sx09 - would that be accurate? Can you please tell me what NW/NC # you would rate the Peau Vierge #5 at please?
Sorry for asking (again) but its hugely expensive!!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend and thank you very much for all your help and advice - you are making my makeup journey a fabulous one:)
Cheers & ta,
Andrea:)
Hiya BP...
ReplyDeleteI guess you've got my other post, further enquiring about my colour choice of #4 or #5...
After re-reading the above info, I'm thinking perhaps #3 could be better match than #4??? Is #3 much lighter than #4 or #5?? #4 worries me, as a selection, cos of its description of yellow tones... I absolutely cannot use yellow tones! The #3 sounds more neutral pinkish?? Winter is at my doorstep so I definitely won't be tanning!
Please help me, sorry you must be getting sick of me by now... The positive is that you really are my elected professor in this amazing journey, your views are fab & I'm thrilled with all I've bought thru your advice:) I'm totally a foundation junkie!! I love it and with u as my guide I'm not having to buy so many colours of the same products...us Aussies have NONE of these so online buying is tricky!!
Hope your week is going to be great & your weekend is lovely:)
Thanks for all your help, its truly great!
Cheers & ta
Andrea.
Hi Andrea!
DeleteGood to hear from you! I am definitely not sick of hearing from you...it is always a pleasure to interact : ) Thanks for the Wake Me Up foundation recommendation...I've heard good things and will have to check it out!
With regards to your question about the LMdB Classic Flawless Foundation, in light of your current color matches (and the desire to go lighter as opposed to darker with the onset of winter approaching), I am guessing you would be happiest with #3. It is more neutral with a slight rosy hue (did you see this page with all of the shade descriptions? If not, it is here: http://www.beautyprofessor.net/2012/07/le-metier-de-beautemy-summer-foundation.html) and is, according to description, good for light to light-medium skin.
Happy to serve as your elected professor...from one foundation junkie to another...hope this helps ; )
xoxo and do keep me posted!!
