Integral to My Routine in January and Beyond: A Supplement Staple and Newness from Clé de Peau, BY TERRY, LAWLESS and Jouer

Integral in January and beyond.
Some new launches briefly capture one's interest while others masterfully hold one's attention for the long term. Such is the case with the products I'll be showing you today. From a daily supplement that is addressing my health on a myriad of levels (including coveted blue light protection!) and luxurious anti-aging creams that really work to eyeshadows, concealers and lipsticks in shades that flatter a spectrum of complexions, these are versatile staples that will prove their worth for all of 2020.

 Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of everything in action as well as the Bottom Line...

*Hush & Hush Time Capsule
Supplements have been a vital part of my daily experience since I was a child. My parents always made sure that my brother and I ate healthy foods while simultaneously believing in the positive benefits of vitamins and herbs to fortify our systems. To this day, I take a myriad of supplements to help support my crazy busy life (mom, two full-time jobs, late nights, early mornings etc.) and appreciate the way in which they build my immunity and keep my energy levels consistent.

My favorite supplement discovery of the past 12 months has been *Hush & Hush Time Capsule (previously reviewed HERE) and, upon greater research, I've discovered even more benefits of the formulation that I am excited to elaborate upon.

In addition to be an exemplary daily multivitamin, *Hush & Hush Time Capsule is packed with antioxidants, which have been proven to help protect skin against the adverse effects of blue light. That's right...the constant that light that emits from our computers, tablets and cell phones is not only stressful to our psyche, but also harmful to our skin. In fact, there are many studies (when you're ready to do some additional reading, conveniently find them HERE, linked to each ingredient) that reveal that blue light is directly linked with the development of pigmentation on the face and the average American spends more than half their day facing a screen. As much as I would like NOT to be in front of a screen, my livelihood--from writing deadlines to online grading--depends on this interaction and I am sure it's taking a toll on my skin.

One particularly effective ingredient in *Hush & Hush Time Capsule that is not found in most supplements (I love when there are clearly defined factors that set something apart from its peers) is the tropical fern Polypodium Leuctomos. This antioxidant possess powerful UV-protection capabilities that, when taken orally, helps to mitigate both solar and blue light UV damage on the skin (more evidence on this process can be found HERE). In turn, each time I take Time Capsule, I am giving my face a layer of additional protection from the aging perils of blue light, which gives me peace of mind in light of (pun intended) the interminable amount hours I send on my laptop and cell phone everyday.

It is for these reasons that *Hush & Hush Time Capsule has become a consistent part of my daily routine for the past six months and I am grateful to have discovered a supplement that meets my needs on a diverse spectrum of levels. Should you wish to try *Hush & Hush Time Capsule for yourself, I am thrilled to be able to extend a special offer to my Beauty Professor readers...simply enter the code BeautyProfessor at checkout and receive 20% off  your order.

Clé de Peau Beauté Le Creme reformulated
The new *Clé de Peau Beauté La Créme
In terms of topical skincare, the widely respected *Clé de Peau Beauté La Créme has recently reformulated (this is the eighth incarnation since 1982, indicating the brand's desire to continually evolve), delivering potent results overnight for firmer, brighter and more lifted skin upon waking. The packaging--which is reminiscent of a multifaceted diamond--is a brilliant harbinger to brilliance of the illustrious formula within.

Rich with Cerafermant Extract, Theanine and Japanese Pearl Shell Extract, this plush cream intends to be the last step in one's evening skincare routine, encouraging circulation, hydration and repair while the body rests. For the past six nights, I've applied the *Clé de Peau Beauté La Créme after cleansing and toning and am thrilled by the buoyant, more youthful appearance of my skin in the morning. I will continue to keep this as a mainstay in my evening routine for the next month and will weigh back in on my calibrated long(er)-term results soon.

Retrouve Revitalizing Eye Concentrate review
*Retrouvé Revitalizing Eye Concentrate
For eyes, I am over the moon to be testing the revered *Retrouvé Revitalizing Eye Concentrate (also available at Bergdorf Goodman, Olivela and, in a smaller size at Net-A-Porter). The opulent Retrouvé line in general has been lauded in luxury skincare circles since its launch in 2014 and an industry friend in the know (who has tried nearly everything as I have) recently told me that this is her favorite eye cream to date, making me extremely excited to give it a comprehensive try.

The Vitamin C, E, Retinol Palmitate and Cholesterol Ester-rich formula bathes eyes in lightweight moisture that feels more like a nourishing balm than a cream and it stays in place (read: no migration!) through a night of sleep or a day out and about in the elements. Since testing for the past week, I've noticed that the skin surrounding my sleep-deprived eyes appears brighter, smoother and more luminous and it feels softer and healthier than ever before.

I look forward to continuing to use the *Retrouvé Revitalizing Eye Concentrate (also available at Bergdorf GoodmanOlivela and, in a smaller size at Net-A-Porter) daily and will report back again after a full the meanwhile, I am significantly impressed with my initial experience!

The *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Light Palette and *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Night Palette.
This month, BY TERRY--one of my favorite beauty brands to cover since the earliest days of the blog--released the *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Light Palette and *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Night Palette. These stunning eye palettes feature a range of silky matte and metallic hues in shades in a combination of warm and cool shades to suit all preferences. Moreover, the palettes contain embossing that is a gorgeous celebration of iconic Paris landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Arch du Triomphe as well as the toast of the beauty world of Paris, Terry de Gunzberg's signature.
The gilded gold foil and purple packaging is so luxe.

The *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Light Palette
Replete with warm neutrals and a dash of pale rose, the *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Light Palette is an absolute dream. The matte shades are color-saturated and buttery and the satin hues catch the light with liquid metal allure. Some favorites in this palette (worn in the images that follow) include the incandescent copper, illuminated gold, sparkling champagne and icy baby pink.

As a neutral lover, I am quite taken by this particular assembly of tones and find that the versatile intensity of each of the shades makes it perfect for day and night alike.

Brimming with rich and cool tones, the *BY TERRY V.I.P. Expert Paris by Night Palette is a smoke show of epic proportions, making a lush and sensual eye incredible easy to achieve. Some stand outs from the palette include the radiant bronze-meets brown, glowing gray-blue, deep satin aubergine and luminous sky blue (worn in the crease and lower lash line in the images at the end of this post).

If you have been in search of a very wearable eye palette with cool tones that don't lean towards that common violet-rosy pink color story, then this limited-edition wonder is a must.

Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer Pen swatches
*Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer Pen
For a flawless complexion, the new *Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer Pen (also available at Sephora) really delivers. The emollient and concentrated solid formula (not to be confused with the liquid version reviewed HERE) features a unique triangle shaped tip that assists in application of tiny, hard-to-reach spaces (e.g, corner of nose, orbital area etc.). Designed to impart full coverage in a single pass, this click-dispensed concealer glides on and resists creasing, even after hours of wear. I love that it is a skincare-inspired formula, rife with Hyaluronic Acid, Resveratrol and Vitamin E for skin that looks supple, healthy and decidedly even.

The *Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer Pen comes in 25 shades to match the fairest to the deepest skin tones (and everything in-between) and, upon swatching the lineup, I have found a befitting match in the light-medium olive beige Honey. This concealer banishes dark circles and blemishes alike, making it a utilitarian formula that's destined for your face and your makeup bag.

Introducing the *LAWLESS Satin Luxe Classic Cream Lipstick
Finally, my love of nude lips is no secret and *LAWLESS Satin Luxe Classic Cream Lipstick has launched eight neutral gems--from the palest beige to a deep chocolate--that compliment every skin tone imaginable. Decadently creamy and full coverage, the formula is rich and hydrating while still feeling notably lightweight and the fact that they exist in a range of nudes makes them marvelous for effortless, everyday looks.

I have found every shade to be extremely wearable, but am partial to the peachy pink Annie, warm nude pink Fawn (worn in the images below) and cool beige pink Wedding Day. The completely clean formula puts my mind at ease (especially when I'm kissing Johannah) and I couldn't be more thrilled for this stellar addition to the already lovely LAWLESS line up (see my reviews of LAWLESS foundation and other lip products HERE and HERE).

  • Reformation Emerald Green Mock Neck: Super soft and effortlessly timeless, I suggest sizing up with this cropped sweater (I'm wearing a large) for a look that works so well with high waisted jeans.
  • Frame Le Original Jeans: I have five pairs of Frame jeans in this cut...high waisted (but comfortable) with a relaxed, straight leg and slightly tapered ankle, they can be dressed up or dow
  • Nike Air Max 270 Sneakers: Are you tired of seeing me in these sneakers yet? The fact that I wear them so much demonstrates their essential position in my wardrobe and I love that Nike continually releases new color combinations in this model to keep it fresh.
Keeping a watchful eye on baby Johannah...she loves being hands-on with nature.

Worth the Purchase: My Current Top 20 Beauty Products from Nordstrom

My Nordstrom Beauty Top 20.
When it comes to the latest in beauty, I am grateful to get the opportunity to try so many different launches. After 8 years of Beauty Professor, filtering through press mailings to rigorously test and show you the absolute best is a significant part of my job but that doesn't mean I still don't buy a ton of products. The love of discovering pieces that work is what inspired me to start the blog so many years ago and that passion hasn't subsided.

The place that I shop for beauty most--both in-store and online--unequivocally is Nordstrom. Consequently, today I am excited to share my current top 20 beauty products--some that you've likely haven't seen on this blog yet--that I've procured from the store...each one has more than proved its worth in my routine and hope you find the overview enlightening!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of my top 20 in action...

// SKIN //
  • *Augustinus Bader The Cream & Rich Cream Set: I have shared my ardent love of this cream for over two years and am glad its continuing to get exposure in the industry. A brilliant fusion of science and results, I apply one pump both day and night and, outside of toner and eye cream, am thrilled with the way in which it has streamlined my routine. Of course, I will consistently need to test new formulas--it's a part of my responsibility here at BP--but I always come back to Bader.
  • Chanel La Creme Main Hand Cream and Chanel Le Lift La Creme Main: I purchased the original Chanel hand cream a couple of years ago and am thrilled with how long it's lasted. Joey loves the sleek egg shape and, for some reason, it's the first thing she reaches for at my bedside during our snuggle times each morning. Recently, I picked up the Le Lift version (I'll admit, the black packaging drew me in) and am equally smitten with the soft fragrance and lightweight hydration. This cream looks incredible, travels well and feels amazing on the hands...try it and you'll see what I mean.
// BASE //
  • Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Makeup SPF 45 in Tawny 3W1: Intrigued by the fact that this was brand new when I was perusing the Nordstrom site a week or two ago, I matched myself online and did an in-store pickup for this gem. I am beyond glad that I took a chance on this lightweight, medium to full coverage foundation! One pump gives me excellent coverage while still looking remarkably natural and the foundation has marvelous longevity, as well. I highly recommend this brilliant base and look forward to continuing to have it in my foundation rotation.
  • Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer 4 Warm OliveMulti-tasking base formulas are forever fascinating and this concealer, which can also be a foundation, has been calling my name for awhile. I picked up the warm olive shade for medium skin (which looks exceptionally dark in the swatches below...#goldenhour) and it's a great match for my NC 25-27 skin. The coverage is exceptional and, once set, it resists creasing without budging. It is for these reasons that this will become a handbag staple.
  • *Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer in Cotton, Cedar, Oat and Silk: Ultra pigmented--a little goes a very long way--with immense styling power, this hotly anticipated formula from one of my favorite beauty brands is sure to please the most discriminating concealer connoisseur. I received samples of the four shades below and am excited to share swatches (all four a great for fair to light skin tones with a variety of undertones) but I have the medium beige Beech in my cart and will be purchasing this weekend.

// CHEEKS //
  • Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Natural: I typically use 2-3 specific bronzers in my routine and was recently inspired to branch out. This finely milled rich bronze version lightly contours while adding a fetching veil of warmth that maintains its true tan appeal without the slightest hint of orange tones. I'm glad that I took a chance on this one.
  • Dior Rosy Glow Blush 001 Pink: Despite owning a host of pink blushes, I have nothing in my collection as cool and matte as this one. In a swatch, it can look very light but once on the skin, it adjusts to a deeper custom flush that looks fresh and youthful. It simply must be tried to fully appreciated.
  • Surratt Artistique Cheek Brush: I use this brush for bronzer and blush alike every. single. day. and this consistency shows no signs of slowing. It's an investment-level tool with daily dividends.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light WandEasily one of the most flattering highlighters on the market, this cream-meets-gel seamlessly melds into the skin for a lit-from-within look that is beyond ethereal without being shimmery. I just purchased my third one!
  • Chantecaille Compact Makeup Powder Foundation in Camel: I've been on the search for a new pressed powder to use for touch ups and setting and recently picked up this buttery smooth version that can serve a variety of roles. I apply it in my under eye region to set my concealer and keep everything intact and love that it keeps my skin looking fresh and even as the day wears on.

// EYES //
  • Sisley Les Phytos Ombres Eyeshadow in Glow Gold and Metallic Pink: Silky and illuminating with beautiful color payoff, these extremely blendable shadows create an incandescent sunset-toned eye in seconds
  • Chanel Ombre Premiere Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadow in 24 Rising Sun: The newest product in my list, this fresh launch from Chanel features a gossamer veil of radiant color in the most stunning warm peach tone. I love it as a single wash of color and highly suggest getting this LE gem before it's gone.
  • *Clé de Peau Beauté Intensifying Liquid Eye Liner: This dual sided (two different tips for a customized look), jet black eyeliner glides on smoothly and with ease and stays put for hours on end. It's simply an impeccable luxury liner!
  • BY TERRY Lash Expert Twist Brush Mascara: I've run through at least five tubes of this mascara over the past two years and have purchased it as gifts for the many beauty enthusiasts in my life. The formula is stalwart and smudge-resistant and the fact that the brush has both volumizing and lengthening settings guarantees that it will give your lashes the best possible chance to thrive.
Swatches in direct sunlight.
// LIPS //
  • *ReVive Lip & Perioral Renewal Serum: Nothing I've tried ameliorates the fine lines in the lip area better than this serum. Ultra lightweight and nourishing, just a pump in the morning and night makes the perimeters of my lips incredibly smooth.
  • La Mer The Lip Volumizer: I use this in the day to gently hydrate my lips while I do the rest of my makeup; I notice that lip liner and lip color apply more readily and last longer with this base intact. This was an expensive lip treatment but I'm so glad I bought it; it's just as pretty on the lips as it looks to the eye.
  • Chanel Longwear Lip Pencil Nude Brown: Chanel recently released a fresh round of lip liners and I couldn't help but pick up a few of the neutral hues in the line up. Creamy and long lasting, Nude Brown has a rosy depth that makes it versatile with a spectrum of lip color options.
  • NARS Audacious Lipstick in Raquel: I'm still in love with this velvety lipstick with insane color payoff. It's the perfect fusion of beige, nude, peach and pink and makes lips look full and lush.
  • Sisley-Paris Phyto Lip Twist in Baby: This true light pink feels like balm but delivers enough pigment to act as a lipstick. Ever in my handbag, I never want to be without my trusty lip twists...they are one of the best lip color formulas on the market.
  • Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bare Baby: A gorgeous fusion of pink and nude, this gleaming gloss is plush without being sticky. It's been go-to in my routine for years as it's lovely on its own or atop lip color to add more depth and a pearly glow.

Style notes.

  • BA&SH Lilia Dress: I stumbled upon this dress at Nordstrom (in a size M) and bought it without even trying it on. Compelled by the flowing fabric and muted pattern, it's every bit as dreamy in action as it is on the hanger. I've already worn it 3 worth it!
  • Doc Martens Pascal Boot: Comfortable and versatile, these timeless boots work effortlessly with dresses and jeans alike.
