An Early Summer Glow: My Picks from the MAC Electric Wonder Collection

The *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC
Harmonizing nature-inspired marble packaging with some of most wearable neutrals ever, the limited-edition *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC) is the perfect foray into the summer months. Focusing on bronzed skin and nude lips, this sublime collection--which is brimming with shades to compliment a spectrum of skin tones--is selling out fast. Consequently, I am excited to show you closeups and swatches from the range as well as a culminating beauty look.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the collection in action as well as Style Notes and the Bottom Line...
Neutrals galore...the *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC
The *MAC Ignite Wonder Face Palette
Up first is the lush *Ignite Wonder Face Palette (also available at MAC), which contains six insanely smooth highlighting powders that impart a gossamer veil of color while delivering an ethereal glow to face. There are three pale shades with golden, champagne and pink undertones, respectively, and three hues with more color intensity in the bronze, rose gold and berry families.

I love mixing and layering the powders to achieve a lit from within glow with an unexpected flush of color and did so in the images at the end of this post.

*MAC Natural Vice
Next, there are two eye palettes in the collection: the warm neutral *Natural Vice and the cool toned *Desert Lightning.

Rife with a series of muted mattes and radiant satin finishes in shades reminiscent of a southwestern landscape, *Natural Vice is the obvious choice for those who appreciate an devastatingly beautiful understated eye.
Sunlit swatches of MAC *Natural Vice.
*MAC Desert Lightning and the *234SES Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush
Despite being drawn to all things warm and natural, I actually opted to wear the second eyeshadow palette--*Desert Lightning--in the images at the end of this post.

Applied with the *234SES Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush (this, by the way, is now a permanent member of my makeup bag), the shades in this palette are a lovely mix of pearly tans and blues along with some rosy taupes for a sophisticated eye that looks unexpectedly fresh and feminine.

From L-R: Into Eternity, Serenity Seeker, Canyon Dreamin and Sun-Soaked Strip.
Perhaps my favorite pieces from the *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC) are the Next-to-Nothing Bronzing Powders and Iridescent Powders. Coupled with the *126SES Split Fibre Large Face Brush these four powder compacts skillfully sculpt, warm, highlight and blush the skin with a weightless touch that looks ultra-natural:
  • Into Eternity: A multifaceted golden highlight with a swirl of baby pink.
  • Serenity Seeker: A luminous rosegold-meets-bronze that can double as a stunning blush. **Worn at the end of this post
  • Canyon Dreamin: A yellow (read: no orange or red) toned bronze that looks so good on olive skin. As its name implies, this formula is extremely lightweight and smooth with a light-diffusing sueded finish that I am completely smitten with. I am seriously contemplating a backup as this is the bronzer color and texture of my wildest hopes and dreams. **Worn at the end of this post
  • Sun-Soaked Strip: The same brilliant texture as Canyon Dreamin with a more traditional reddish-brown undertone that will work well for tan and deep skin.
Sunlit swatches from L-R: Into Eternity, Serenity Seeker, Canyon  Dreamin and Sun-Soaked Strip.

MAC Electric Wonder lips options.
For lips, there are five lipsticks and five lip glosses (I received two) in the *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC).

All seven shades--which vary in opacity and finish--are a neutral lover's dream and wear beautifully on their own or layered (as I did in the images at the end of this post...I mixed Feeling Sedimental with a touch of Life in Sepia and Natural Born Leader for a quintessential pinky nude rose lip):
Sunlit swatches from bottom to top: Feeling Sedimental, The Naturalist, Let's Mesa Around, Life in Sepia, Natural Born Leader, Marble Fawn and Coral of the Wild.

My trusty photography companions...Johannah Elle and Jethro.
Skincare, haircare and other beauty essentials.
Sunlit swatches from bottom to top: Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick VII (reviewed HERE), Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Concealer #6 (also available at Neiman Marcus), *La Prairie Skin Caviar Powder Foundation in Honey Beige (reviewed HERE) and the BY TERRY Lash-Expert Twist Brush Mascara

The eye look, featuring *MAC Natural Vice
Style notes.
  • Reformation Delia Ribbed Top: This clean and classic scoop neck tee can be dressed up or down with ease; Reformation runs small on me so I sized up to a large as this is very fitted and I like a bit of room in my tops.
  • Agolde Dee Shorts: I have three pairs of these (in three sizes...27, 28 and 29 for different fits) and wear them multiple times a week. The high waist is flattering and comfortable and the shorts hit at the perfect place on the thigh...ardently recommended.
  • Lennie Niemeyer bikini: I found this green and neutral number new with tags on The Real Real for a killer deal...I am a big fan of the fit (size small) and quality of this particular brand and love saving money in the process.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this overview of the gorgeous and limited edition *MAC Electric Wonder Collection (also available at MAC) and would love to know what caught your tell!

Good things ahead, including a peek at some summertime newness from Guerlain, an easy everyday makeup look, a Beautylish haul and a host of new product procurements...cannot wait to share.

iRestore: A Cutting-Edge Solution for Thinning Hair + My Top 5 Hair Product Favorites innovative way to stop hair loss and regrow new hair.
Thinning hair is a modern day issue. According to the Cleveland Clinic, over 50% of women will experience noticeable hair loss, which affects 30 million women in the US alone. I am so glad that we're living in a time in society where we can openly discuss this topic; in directly exploring the condition, we open ourselves up to a solution-oriented conversation!

As I've mentioned in the past, I am a major proponent of supplements like Vitamin B complex and Biotin to help nourish hair from the inside out but many of my readers who are on a regular supplement routine may still want to pursue additional options for rejuvenating their hair. Consequently, I am excited to share the *iRestore Laser Hair Growth System (also available at iRestore).

My hair is not thinning but when the company approached me about trying the device, I knew it would be of interest to you, my audience. Consequently, my assistant--who is battling thinning hair--was open to giving the system a try and this post will not only chronicle the major tenants of the device but her experience over the course of five months of consistent usage. Please note that this is not a sponsored post...I just thought it could be a strong resource for those of you in a similar position!

Kindly scroll on for more details, before and after photos and five personal haircare favorites as well as the Bottom Line...

There is a myriad of factors that can contribute to hair loss for women; certainly, heredity is a component but stress, hormone levels, menopause, diet and age are also significant causes to consider. From demanding jobs and family responsibilities to environmental stressors and toxins like medication and hair dye, it's not surprising that so many women lament about the condition of their hair.

Having gone through a particularly stressful time during my senior year (AP tests, a breakup, college decisions and the like), I know what it's like to feel completely helpless as hair is falling out more than normal. In fact, I lost 1/3 of my hair during that time period and am grateful that I started out with a very thick head of hair to begin with. After some testing, I learned from my nutritionist that I was Vitamin B depleted (stress feeds off of our Vitamin B reserve) and a heavy daily dose ended up slowing the loss. It took a few years for my hair to grow back to its original density, however, and had  the *iRestore Laser Hair Growth System (also available at iRestore) been around then, I definitely would have wanted to try it.

The *iRestore Laser Hair Growth System (also available at iRestore) involves a comfortable helmet with a cord long enough to easily plug in to an outlet; the Low Level Light Therapy it emits harnesses the restorative powers of red light to enhance cell metabolism and increase energy product. This process helps extend the growth phase of the hair growth cycle and also reactivates dormant hairs, resulting in a slowing of hair loss and an increase in new hair growth.

Over the course of her initial testing period, my assistant, who has noticed most of her hair thinning on the top center of her head (hairline to part) reported that the helmet is comfortable to wear and that the red light it emits never gets hot.

She also confirmed directly with iRestore that this system can safely be used on color treated hair. She used the system--in conjunction with the iRestore Fast Hair Growth Bundle (also available at iRestore)--every other day for 20 minutes and has found the process to be relaxing and easy to commit to. She's also noticed that the amount of hair that she was losing daily has dramatically decreased and new hair growth is evident along her part, filling in the sparse areas.

Before using iRestore.
As you can see from the images above and below, my assistant's progress with the *iRestore Laser Hair Growth System (also available at iRestore) is significant. In addition to the reduction in daily hair loss (e.g., that disheartening pile of hair on the floor, on the brush or in the shower), her part has filled in with new growth and her hair continues to thicken. These results are certainly encouraging and, in light of the new growth, she plans to continue using iRestore every other day for the next few months. Of course, everyone's results will vary, but this is her experience!

After 5 months of iRestore.

// Five Haircare Favorites // While on the topic of hair, here are five haircare products that are unequivocally a part of my regular routine.
  • Oribe Run Through Detangler: Two sprays following shampooing and my tangles (of which there are generally many) are banished. This luxe formula takes care of business without weighing hair good.
  • Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer: Lightweight and powerful, this ultra effective hairdryer uses a minimum of heat and maximum of power to swiftly dry hair while mitigating damage often caused by heat styling. I love it so much that I bought one for my's all we both use!
  • Balmain Paris Detangling Brush: I randomly found this brush on the Internet and am so glad I ordered it. Although it may look like a regular plastic brush, there's something about the arrangement of the bristles that adeptly detangles my hair (without pulling it out) each and every time I use it. So glad it's still available!
  • Mason Pearson Pocket Boar Bristle Hair Brush: Forever in my handbag, this luxurious brush detangles and smoothes and is well worth the pursuit.
  • *Sisley-Paris Hair Rituel Precious Hair Care Oil: One pump in my post-shower hair and my mane is smooth, moisturized and bouncy with a ton of shine.
