A Desert Days Look, Featuring Jouer Concealer + the Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette & Details on a BP Beauty Event in LA!

I hope your October is finishing strong...travel, midterms, a newborn and lots of projects has Mande mine a bit bananas but I'm grateful for it all nonetheless. Today, I am excited to share two resplendent  new beauty launches--from Jouer and Charlotte Tilbury--as well as a full on-location look for the desert and the details for my next Beauty Professor beauty event...this time in LA on 11/3!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the launches in action as well as all the specifics for my upcoming master classes in Los Angeles and the Bottom Line...

Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer swatches
The *Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer (also available at Beautylish
First up, the *Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer (also available at Beautylish) comes in an impressive and formidable 25 shades so you are sure to find a perfect match (mine currently is Creme Brûlée). As the name implies, the formula has intense coverage but it's important to note that, once blended, it is very natural looking on the skin.

Brimming with skincare benefits (keep scrolling for the full ingredients breakdown) and concentrated pigmentation, a little of this concealer goes a very long way. I like to apply it directly from the doe-foot applicator and then blend it out with a dense brush. It's particularly effective in even the darkest of under eye regions (my sleep-deprived eyes definitely have given it a serious test as of late) but could also be used an impromptu medium coverage foundation when sheered out with a dampened beauty blender.

It's a utilitarian formula that wears flawlessly for hours and one of my favorite Jouer launches to date!

The Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette (also available at Sephora
Next, the Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette (also available at Sephora) is a breathtakingly beautiful collection of twelve finely milled shadows in matte and satin finishes that will prove insanely beguiling for rosy neutral lovers. Divided into four different looks--Love Eyes, Power Eyes, Happy Eyes and Confident Eyes--these shadows cover the spectrum of daytime appropriate to evening smolder while maintaining a color story that is ultra flattering.

I like mixing the various "eye options" for a customized look that wears like a dream and lasts the day without creasing. If you like these types of shades as I do, then believe me when I say this palette is an unmitigated must!

To complete the look, I incorporated the following skin and hair care favorites:
  • *Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (reviewed HERE): I am on my third bottle of this wondrous moisturizer. Everyone I've recommend it to is loving it as much as I am...anti-aging and hydrating for skin that is bouncy and glowy, it, in a word, is magnificent.
  • Oribe Apres Beach Shine and Wave Spray: I never travel without this spray which adds a glossy yet weightless coat of shine as well as a touch of texture to my extra straight locks.
  • Philosophy Fresh Cream Body Lotion: I am almost finished with this tube of moisturizer and will be picking up a back up soon. It smells divine and truly gives my skin a heavy dose of hydration...I use it daily.
  • *Koh Gen Do Spa Water Cleansing Cloths (also available at Nordstrom): My favorite cleansing cloths of life, these gently clean skin without stripping and remove even the most pernicious eye makeup effortlessly.

The complete look.
For the complete look, I used:

// STYLE NOTES //
  • Reformation Joplin Tee: Clean and classic, this soft tee is on heavy rotation...I am wearing it in a size medium.
  • Reformation Ginger Relaxed Denim Shorts: I purchased these cutoffs in a size 26 and adore the high waisted fit. They hold everything in while remaining very comfortable. Get them now for vacation or next season if it's already cold in your part of the world...you won't regret it!
  • Coclico Clidro Slides: Minimalist styling and maximum comfort, I bought these a year and a half ago and still wear them multiple times a week. So good.
  • *Oribe Geometric Gold Plated Hair Stick: Forever in my handbag, nothing holds my hair in an impromptu bun better than this luxurious and utilitarian stick. Well worth it.
  • Clip On Gold Hoops: I get so many questions about these hoops...they are super comfortable  clip ons (my ears aren't pierced!) and I love to wear them above my lobe as they are secure and interesting. They're my daily go-to!

Finding the Best of Beauty on eBay

eBay beauty finds.
I'll never forget my first eBay bid; well over 10 years ago, I used the "Buy it Now" feature to purchase some vintage Cartier jewelry and I was hooked (both on Cartier and eBay!). Now, it's easier than ever to navigate eBay and, while it's marvelous for getting deals on fashion and hard-to-find items, it's also a brilliant place to replenish one's skincare and beauty essentials

Today, I am sharing my top eBay picks in this category...from a high-tech hairdryer to a limited-edition holiday lipstick, the options in this vertical are endless.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Propelled by the fact that 81% of all merchandise sold on eBay is new and available with the "Buy It Now" feature and 69% of items sold on eBay ship for free, I love searching for deals on products I would normally purchase at full price...it's like winning an auction without even having to bid!

Hair care and skin care.
// HAIR CARE + SKIN CARE //
  • Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer (addition options HERE): Now officially cult-status, this innovative piece of technology dries hair with minimum heat and maximum efficacy. Be forewarned, however...it ruins you for all other hair dryers!
  • Oribe Run-Through Detangler (additional options HERE): I cannot begin to write enough good things about this detangling formula; for those who struggle with tangles, it's simply transformational. Just a few sprays directly following the washing of my hair and my mane is completely tamed...a brush or comb glides through even the worst snarls with ease and my hair is left glossy and soft rather than weighed down. I never want to be without this going forward...my only question is, what took me so long to try it?!
  • Mason Pearson Junior Hairbrush (additional options HERE): Forever in my handbag, this luxurious boar bristle gem is small enough to be portable while large enough to brush through an entire head of long and thick hair.
  • Sisley-Paris Eye Contour Mask (additional options HERE): Expert at relieving puffy and fatigued eyes, this mask can also be used as an eye treatment gel...utilitarian and effective.
  • Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence (additional options HERE): A perfect companion for my work bag, this mid-day refresher is full of botanical essences to enliven the complexion in a single spritz.
  • SK-II Overnight Miracle Mask (additional options HERE): When skin needs extra reinforcements, this mask delivers results while sleeping. Simply apply an entire capsule of the pre-portioned formal all over the face and slumber. The next morning skin appears hydrated, nourished, bouncy and fresh...it's truly a miracle worker.

On Location: Travel Skincare and Beauty...Exactly What I Brought to NYC

A glimpse at my travel beauty choices.
Last week, I spent a few days in NYC to host a beauty master class for one of my favorite brands of life, Clé de Peau Beauté. Held at Bloomingdale's SoHo, the evening involved lots of beauty discussion in an intimate setting and it was a thrill to be able to share my favorites from the brand while meeting my East Coast BP readers.

Although I packed a myriad of products (I always do with the hopes of shooting multiple stories while on location), I found myself reaching for basically the same options each day and am excited to share them with you in this story along with an homage to one of any favorite outfits for travel.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

The view from our window at the Sixty SoHo Hotel in NYC...an abundance of natural light, indeed.
Skin care and hair care. .
// SKIN CARE + HAIR CARE // Because it is always one of the weightiest parts of my checked luggage, I kept my skincare to a minimum on this trip and each piece served a specific and vital purpose in my routine.
  • Lift Lab Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser: My go-to cleanser for years this cleans and exfoliates without stripping or irritation. I'll continue to buy it as long as it's being made!
  • *Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (also now available at Neiman Marcus and reviewed HERE): This buzz-worthy formula has been on my face nonstop since January...my mom and I are wholly devoted and are so pleased with the bouncy, glowy and youthful skin that comes from daily use.
  • *Sisley-Paris Eye Contour Mask: A constant travel companion, I apply this gel mask at night to fight the dark circles and puffiness that come from a lack of sleep whilst on the road.
  • *Orlane Magnificent Lip Balm: Divinely hydrating and plush, this is my second tube of this balm; I cannot get enough of the moisture and the slightly rosy finish.
  • *GrandeLash and GrandeBrow (reviewed HERE): This dynamic duo keeps my lashes and brows nourished and full...both are a nightly ritual for me.
  • *Sisley Black Rose Mask: Transformative for the skin each and every time I use it, this cult-classic is always in my travel bag.
  • *LATHER Blue Chamomile Makeup Remover: I am very intrigued and impressed with this clean and natural formula; it's extremely soothing yet removes every last trace of makeup without irritation...simply brilliant.
  • *Chanel Hand Cream (reviewed HERE): Just a touch nourishes my hands...it's a nightstand staple, no matter where I am.
  • Philosophy Fresh Cream and Mint Body Lotion: This has been my body lotion of choice for the past few months...it's rich and hydrating and smells delicious without being the slightest bit cloying.
  • *Oribe Run-Through Detangling Primer: I cannot live without this recent discovery; the lightweight formula completely obliterates tangles, making my worst snarls history in a manner of moments.
  • *Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler: This brush lives up to its moniker...combined with the Oribe above, my tangles have no chance to thrive these days.
Makeup.
// MAKEUP // Focused on an even canvas and a wash of glowing bronze all over the face, my daily look while in the city was punctuated with a nude pink (what else?) lip.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter #4 (reviewed HERE): Forever my first base, this adds an "extra something" and plays well with all foundations in my arsenal.
  • La Mer The Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation in #33 Warm Bisque: Because so many of you have been requesting a review of the formula, I bought this while in NYC and am so glad that I did. The foundation, which comes with a refill, offers instant medium to full coverage with a natural finish that wears well for 12+ hours. Warm Bisque is my perfect match and I will try to do a current cushion foundation comparison soon...in the meanwhile, if you can find a match, I think you'll be very pleased with this formula.
  • *Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Med/Dark (reviewed HERE): This has been on my face almost daily; the brown bronzer is so natural looking and the peachy highlighter works as a blush on my medium olive skin.
  • *Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Corrector in Almond (reviewed HERE): I like to think of this click brush pen as "a few extra hours of sleep" since it truly banishes many of the signs of tiredness in my orbital region. It's lightweight and inconspicuous yet has fabulous coverage...just what one wants with an under eye concealer.
  • Westman Atelier Superloaded Tinted Highlight (reviewed HERE): Just a touch along the center of my forehead, upper cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose and my skin looks lit-from-within rather than shimmery. The slightly pinky peach tone of this creamy highlighter is what lends to its stunningly natural effect...truly unique amongst my cadre of illuminators.
  • Hourglass Scattered Light Eye Shadow in Foil, Aura and Blaze (reviewed HERE): During the four days I was in NYC, I wore this combination daily and people constantly asked me what was on my eyes...the formula is radiant and light-catching yet budge-proof...so potent and oft-sold out. I found the 3 colors I wore in stock at Beautylish just in case you seek to recreate the look.
  • *Sisley-Paris Phyto Kohl Star Waterproof Eyeliner in Mystic Green (reviewed HERE): I like to put this deep rich green in my lower waterline for an unexpected pop of subtle color and instant impact that stays in place.
  • Tom Ford Fiber Brow in Chestnut (reviewed HERE): This is basically all I ever use for my brows so it made perfect sense that I should bring it on this trip...purchasing a back up this week!
  • BY TERRY Lash-Expert Twist Mascara (reviewed HERE): Two coats for ultra-long and voluminous lashes that resist melting or migrating...this still ranks in my top two mascara formulas of life.
  • *Koh Gen Do Gloss Film Powder #123 (reviewed HERE): A gorgeous finishing powder that I like to use to set my under eye region; it provides excellent coverage while lacking any signs of a powdery finish.
  • Fenty Gloss Bomb in Diamond Milk: Entranced by the extreme reflection and slightly opalescent (read: like an oyster shell) quality of this gloss, this is the first Fenty product in my collection and I am quite pleased with it.
  • Anna Sui Lipstick F Shade 300: I bought this at the Anna Sui boutique in NYC and wore it nonstop (and in the images at the end of this post) for the rest of the trip; it is a creamy warm pink with no shimmer but plenty of depth and a touch of shine.
  • Lancome L'Absolu Lip Lacquer in Nuit & Jour (reviewed HERE): I recommend this shade to everyone as it's a stunning universal peachy pink nude...the formula is equal parts stain and gloss and it bathes lips in color and hydration...truly exquisite.
  • Kevyn Aucoin Molten Matte Lipstick in Tori (reviewed HERE): This has been a staple in my handbag for the past few months; the rosy peach with full opacity is excellent to apply in haste as it wears comfortably for hours on end.
  • Edward Bess Ultra Slick Lipstick in Secret Seduction: The latest shade by Edward Bess, this dreamy pinky nude has remarkable color payoff, making it well worth tracking down.
  • Dior Diorific Matte Velvet Color Lipstick in #360 Elegante: Transfixed by the smooth texture and gorgeous rosy peach tone, I bought this LE Holiday 2  018 shade for both my mom and myself. It wears like a dream and is well worth tracking down whilst it is still available.

Accessory Essentials.
// ACCESSORY ESSENTIALS //
  • Longchamp Le Foulonne Leather Belt Bag: I purchased this fanny pack of sorts on a whim and am so smitten with it; large enough to hold everything that I need over the course of a long day while keeping my hands free (and posture straight and balanced), it was the quintessential bag for me to embrace while walking miles in Manhattan. Highly recommended!
  • Vintage Gucci Silk Scarf: Other options HERE: This is my second vintage Gucci scarf from the Real Real and I am over the moon for its neutral color palette and generous length; it looks great in the hair or around the waist as a scarf belt.
  • *Oribe Geometric Gold Plated Hair Stick: This two pronged beauty secures a bun in seconds and can also be used to create a host of other hair styles. It's permanently in my handbag!
  • Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540: My signature fragrance, rarely does a day go by without someone asking me what I'm wearing. I love the travel vials for purse-friendly portability.

Style Notes.
// STYLE NOTES // My travel uniform always includes a loose-fitting blouse in a breathable material, sleek leggings and comfortable trainers along with a trench coat
  • Patterned Silk Blouse: Slightly oversized and breezily relaxed, this silk shirt is equal parts chic and effortless.
  • Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: These quite possibly are my most favorite leggings...slimming yet comfortable, the leather-look patina is a fresh take on a closet staple. Everyone I know who has tried this particular pair has loved them as I do.
  • Nike Air Max 270 Sneakers: Tennis shoes in earth tones? Yes, please! Nike is killing it lately in the color combination category and this particular pair is as comfortable as it is cute.
  • Vintage Burberry Trench Coat: There's something about a vintage version of this timeless classic that is so appealing...I found mine on The Real Real...a myriad of other options HERE
