Finally Fall & Back to Basics: An 11 Product Face + 5 Things Currently in My Shopping Cart

It’s finally fall and I have been reaching for a myriad of beautiful basics–11 to be exact–to create a full face that is equal parts classic and modern. From the brand new *Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book Volume III to a revolutionary lip liner formula from Dior, this post celebrates the effortless side of the cooler months ahead.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as a peek in my current shopping cart and the Bottom Line…
Skin.
// SKIN // For rushed moments when only a cleanser and a moisturizer can be arranged, make sure both are wildly effective.
  • *Odacite Green Ceremony Cleanser: This clean formula starts as a nourishing and verdant powder…once combined with water, the gentle exfoliating and skin refreshing powers are activated, leaving a smooth and bright canvas for all subsequent products. So dreamy.
  • *Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (reviewed HERE): I have been singing the praises of this moisturizer since late last year (when I originally received a preview of the brand) and am still smitten with its ability to create hydrated, bouncy and glowing skin each and every day. It’s as sublime as the buzz purports!
Base + face.
// BASE + FACE // Four products for a full face? Yes, please!
  • *Kosas Tinted Face Oil (reviewed HERE): I am sincerely shocked by how much I reach for this foundation formula. Just a few drops provides me with smooth medium coverage (that still lets my freckles shine through) and it lasts the entire day without a need for touch ups. Don’t let the word “oil” daunt you…it moisturizes without being the slightest bit “oily” and it imparts a soft and subtle glow that by no means is shimmery. Pure perfection.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer #6 (reviewed HERE): Just a swipe under each eye feigns a couple extra hours of sleep (which I desperately need right now). It’s potent without being conspicuous.
  • *Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book Volume III: I am completely impressed with this new release from Kevyn Aucoin. To be fair, I haven’t tried the previous versions (Volumes I and II) so I cannot draw any comparisons between the three. That being said, this particular installment features three neutral toned sculpting shades for contouring and warming up the canvas, two highlighting shades (with gold and peachy champagne undertones) and an ombre-inspired Neo-Blush (Venice) which is a clever amalgamation of pale pink, medium rose and rich bronze, for custom cheeks that pop. Every shade in the palette is essential and useful and the streamlined packaging will make this a purse and travel favorite.
  • *Surratt Beauty Artistique Cheek Brush: Ever my cheek companion, if you haven’t yet tried it, you must. It’s beyond.

Eyes.
// EYES // A luminous neutral eye will always win in my book; combined with full brows and lush lashes, its a truly timeless endeavor.
  • *Estee Lauder Goddess Glow Palette (also available at Estee Lauder): One look at this palette and I knew that I would be using it regularly going forward. Comprised of six demure and radiant shades in a host of natural tones, plus two rich mattes in brown and black, this palette offers endless variations of the glowy neutral eye. The eyeshadow formula is buttery and smooth, blends harmoniously and resists creasing (even after a long work day). If you like incandescent neutrals as I do, I highly recommend pursuing this…you won’t regret it.
  • *Sisley-Paris Phyto Kohl Star Waterproof Eyeliner in Mystic Green (reviewed HERE): About a month ago, I put this on my waterline on a whim and now I cannot stop! This intensely pigmented formula is a gorgeous mix of green and black and the waterproof formula stays on all day, even on my allergy ridden eyes. It’s a fun twist on basic black, indeed!
  • Tom Ford Fiber Brow Gel in Chestnut (reviewed HERE): One my brows, every single day. I hope it’s never discontinued.
  • *Hourglass Caution Extreme Mascara (reviewed HERE): Two coats for thick, full and long lashes that last the day.

Lips.
// LIPS // What is more fundamentally basic than a rouge-toned lip? This new power pairing from Dior blends red and coral for bold yet wearable impact.
  • *Dior Rouge Dior Ink Lip Liner in #434 Promenade: Like an opulent, fine-tipped marker pen, this texture-free and waterproof formula, this lip liner (in a brilliant and universal shade of rosewood) redefines the contours of the lips without competing with the lipstick to come. I can’t wait to try this in other shades as well.
  • *Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Pigmented Hydra Lipstick in #555 Ultra Kiss: As its name implies, this new lip launch has insanely good color payoff and a moisturizing finish that feels plush and comforting. Ultra Kiss is a gorgeous coral-tinted red-meets-pink that will flatter a spectrum of skin tones.

Style notes.
// STYLE NOTES // Some things never go out of style.
  • Vintage Los Angeles Tee: Faded black accented with just enough color to be interesting, this tee is on heavy rotation.
  • Gold Hoops: Always on my ears, I typically suggest a pierced version for my readers but since my ears aren’t pierce, my clip on version can be found HERE
  • Vintage gold lariat necklace: I get questions about my vintage Cartier lariat constantly and while it’s not commonly available, I found a similar Gucci version…hope one of you pick it up because I just may have to otherwise ; )

// MY CART // Now that it is finally fall, I am feeling ready to pick up some key pieces that resonate with the season.
(1) Rag & Bone 55mm Aviator Sunglasses: The color combination and chic lines make these extremely appealing to me.
(2) Chunky Thermal Cowl Neck Sweater: In the most beautiful shade of tan-meets-caramel, I cannot say no to a classic cowl neck…now if only the temperature would drop every so slightly!
(3) Topshop Velvet Satin Minidress: I was instantly smitten with the ease of wear of this dress…fit and flare with comfy sleeves and pockets, it’s time for a LBD upgrade.
(4) Eileen Fisher Purl Stretch-Knit Fabric Booties: These booties are the perfect height and capture the sock trend without being over the top. They will be mine.
(5) Frame Le High Straight-Leg Frayed -Hem Jeans: I am loving all things high waisted and straight leg so this particular combination (which is a NM exclusive) is definitely calling my name.
