FOTD in London...Simple and Sunlit

Greetings from London...at the Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel.
If you've been following me on Instagram, then you may have ascertained that I am currently in London! After a lovely weekend spent in Mayfair (reflected below), I met up with the Burberry Beauty team and can't wait to embark on a special, behind-the-scenes experience while soaking up the ambience of London Fashion Week...much more to come!

In the meanwhile, I wanted to share a simple beauty and style look that took but minutes to create while holding up over the course of a sunny, 12- hour day.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and, of course, images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

The full face.
Reflecting only thirteen products for a full face, the makeup employed is tried, tested and true with a couple new gems thrown in for good measure. Although I was able to shoot the final look in the sunlight that I covet, the products themselves fell victim to a rainy morning...hopefully you get the picture!
Base + Face.
// BASE + FACE //
  • *Becca Ultimate Coverage Foundation in Olive (reviewed HERE): This foundation offers buildable full coverage with an extremely natural finish that lasts all day...I am continually pleased with the formula.
  • *Sisley-Paris Concealer #3 (reviewed HERE): A dab under the eyes soothes the look of exhaustion while brighting up everything in a crease-free manner.
  • *By Terry Sun Designer Palette (reviewed HERE): A full face (contour, bronze, blush, highlight) in one palette...although #2 (pictured) is sold out, #4 Savannah Love is a similar option with equally stellar performance and versatility.
  • *Juice Beauty Illuminator: Coming soon, this liquid highlighter with incredible ingredients gives skin a bouncy, dewy finish.
  • Tom Ford Illuminator in Reflects Gilt (reviewed HERE): This ultra-flattering duo has received so much wear that I am mow on my second palette. Get this...you won't regret it.
  • *SK-II Mid-Day Essence (reviewed HERE): One spritz sets my look and is also an excellently refreshing companion for travel.

  • Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Meteore (reviewed HERE): I swept this golden taupe shadow all over my lids to even out the tone and add a wash of glimmery neutral color; this particular shade is always in my makeup bag.
  • *Marc Jacobs EyeConic Palette in Scandalust (reviewed HERE): This particular palette has been on heavy rotation for the past month and every time I wear it, someone invariably asks me what's on my eyes...warm neutral lovers need this in their lives. Shades used for the final look are swatched below.
  • *Givenchy Base Mascara Perfecto (reviewed HERE): I am loving this pink-tinged base (which dries clear) to add initial volume and length to my lashes...it truly contributes to a more dramatic result.
  • *IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (reviewed HERE): I am on tube #5 of this volumizing, lengthening wonder...every bit as good as its moniker suggests.
  • *By Terry Eyebrow Mascara #4 (reviewed HERE): Two coats adds dimension, polish and hold to my ash brown brows...a trusted formula for years.

  • *Tom Ford Rinko Lipstick (reviewed HERE): A delightful peachy pink with tender luminosity, this shade ranks amongst my favorite of the new hue launches.
  • *Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Liquid Rouge #11 (reviewed HERE): I topped the creamy Rinko with a coat of the ever-magnificent #11 (on tube #3), which offers a peachy nude wash of shiny color that plays well with pink lip color and stays in place for hours.

Style Notes.
// STYLE NOTES //
  • Black Off-The-Shoulder Top: A constant go-to, this minimalist top can be dressed up or down, making it a wardrobe MVP.
  • Frame Denim High-Waist Jeans: A flattering cut with an easy wear, they're friends with tennis shoes, booties and heels alike.
  • Eileen Fisher Bailey d'Orsay Pumps: I bought these at the Nordstrom sale and am still in love with their extremely comfortable craftsmanship and modern silhouette. By the way, I walked at least 4 miles in London with these on...so good.
  • Vintage Cartier Silk Scarf: As a belt, it's unique and utilitarian.
  • Camel Coat: Mine is Burberry (purchased on sale last season) but some similar options can be found HERE. The color and cut are timeless and I reach for this gem time and again.
  • Seth Wegter Bags Leather Backpack: The newest creation by my brother, this backpack is smaller than a traditional pack yet it holds an impressive amount of supplies...close up soon!

Tom Ford Lips & Girls: A Pictorial Featuring My Top Six Choices

My Tom Ford Lips & Girls selections.
Tom Ford's Lips & Boys (previously reviewed HERE) now have company; housed in resplendent white and gold packaging, the clutch-sized Lips & Girls feature the names of significant women in Tom Ford's life in two fresh formulas--Ultra-Rich and Sheer--for lips that positively radiate with beauty. The Girls come in 50 shades and I chose exactly six from the mix with which to experiment. Consequently, this post is a lip color pictorial dedicated to my selections!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the Tom Ford Lips & Girls in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Lipstick or art?
My current lip color collection is rife with pinky nude tones so, when perusing the *Tom Ford Lips & Girls offerings, I focused on shades that I didn't readily have in my stash; this included the cool pale tones, sheer color-shifting transformers and juicy, shimmer-free pinky peach hues to brighten the face in a single swipe.

As with all Tom Ford lip color, the formula has a faint sweet vanilla scent (which I adore) and--in the case of the Girls--an immensely hydrating texture that envelopes lips in a veil of plush and creamy shine.

I chose:
  • *Dakota (Ultra-Rich): Cool and pale lavender-tinged pink, perfect for a 1960s Mod look.
  • *LouLou (Ultra-Rich): Bold yet wearable French pink...a major standout in the lineup.
  • *Marisa (Ultra-Rich): Peach cream with slightly rosy under tones...a excellent, fuss-free everyday shade.
  • *Isamaya (Sheer): Intriguing silvery blue that translates as a muted purple on the lips; it adds cool tones to existing lip color and is surprisingly wearable on its own, too.
  • *Beatrice (Sheer): Luminous pink glaze with golden flecks, this shade can warm up an existing lip color in a single coat.
  • *Rinko (Sheer): Juicy pinky peach (similar to Marisa in the tube, but markedly pinker when swatched). This shade has intense pigmentation for a "Sheer" formula and is my other favorite in this group of six!

About Boys & Girls Ultra-Rich and Sheer Lip Color
CLUTCH-SIZED. EXCITING. DISCRETE.
50 Boys meet 50 Girls. Tom Ford introduces 50 Girls to his celebrated Lips & Boys collection. Named after women he admires, from intimates to collaborators from around the world, the limited edition collection debuts in clutch-sized, ivory and gold packaging.
Designed to be worn on their own or layered with one another, each transforming color and finish amplifies a woman or man’s individuality while inciting an insatiable desire to try more than one. From Lip Color Sheer in Lisa, Carine and Amber to Ultra-Rich Lip Color in Emma, Grace and Sasha, there’s a shade and finish for every girl.
Why It's Special
Harmonizing sensuous shades with a veil of color, lip color sheer delivers an irresistible effect that complements luminous skin. Palette Power: Introducing the Natasha Denona Lila Palette + Hourglass Metallic Strobe Palette

*Natasha Denona Lila Palette
Today's story is dedicated to two new beauty releases that embody the power of palettes: possessing a wealth of blendable shades yielding infinite potential, the *Natasha Denona Lila Palette (also available at Sephora) and *Hourglass Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette will instantly elevate your beauty routine.

Kindly scroll on for an overview of the Lila Palette, closeups of the radiant new *Hourglass Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette, a full beauty look with both and the Bottom Line...

The Power of a palette...the *Natasha Denona Lila Palette
Replete with 15 buttery shades of warm neutrals offset by royal washes of purple in both matte and radiant finishes, the *Natasha Denona Lila Palette (also available at Sephora), is a thing of opulent beauty! I was completely captivated by this palette the seconds I opened opened the metallic purple case and have used it nearly every day since receiving it.

A major dimension of its allure is that every single hue is wearable, which is a must in my quickly-apply-makeup-in-my-car-before-teaching lifestyle. The matte shades have neutral to cool undertones that synergistically harmonize with the warm chrome tones and vivid purple shades, ensuring that even the most creativity-challenged individual will be able to craft an eye that's modern and beautiful. Buttery smooth texture, excellent color payoff and crease-free wear further validate the immense value of Lila; it's truly my favorite Natasha Denona palette to date and I earnestly implore you to give it serious thought, especially if you are drawn to warm neutrals, cool mattes and lavish purples...your eyes will thank you!

Official details, courtesy of Beautylish:

Inspired by her love for the color purple, makeup artist Natasha Denona’s Lila Palette features 15 shadows in four beloved finishes for showstopping eye looks day and night. Choose from a spectrum of purple-inspired shades to sculpt and define your eyes—the color-coordinated design and foolproof formula make it easy to achieve flawless results no matter your skill level.

The Complete Look.
The Compete Look: To complement the warm rosy tones of the *Natasha Denona Lila Palette (also available at Sephora), I integrated warm neutrals and a fresh matte lip, offset by the incandescent glow of the brand new *Hourglass Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette (keep reading for details and swatches!)
Base + Face.
// BASE + FACE //
  • Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Cream Foundation in O40 (swatches of all shades + my previous review HERE): I recently rediscovered this medium coverage foundation and forgot how much I love it! With SPF 24 and a satin finish that stays in place for 10+ hours on my face, it's perfection for weekends outdoor and long work days alike.
  • *By Terry Stylo-Expert in 4.5 Soft Beige (reviewed HERE): Excellent to spot conceal and brighten up the under eyes, this is my new favorite highly pigmented base product.
  • *Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer: I am super late to the game on this formula but am so glad I finally tried it; the soft, light tan powder bronzer feels almost creamy; it has buildable color payoff and a matte finish that is subtle and flattering. I highly recommend giving it a spin.
  • *Hourglass Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette : I applied a mix of Lucent Strobe and Pure Strobe to the high points of my face, focusing on the upper cheekbones for skin that has an ethereal radiance.
  • *Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand (reviewed HERE): I used a bit on the bridge of my nose for a tender glow...by the way, this creamy highlighter is always in my makeup bag as of late.
  • *Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam: A touch of this sheer apricot hue blended on the apples of my cheeks creates a demure flush that makes skin look lit from within. This is my first Glossier product and I am definitely intrigued!
  • *Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder: Whisper light and nearly invisible on the skin, this powder buffs aways visible pores and unwanted shine...it's a veritable filter.

The sheen that the trio imparts is nearly liquid in nature, providing a hyper-natural glow that becomes on with the skin upon application. The pink pearl Strobe Light, pale gold Pure Light and rose gold Lucent Light blend like a dream with a gossamer finish and virtually no powder fallout...truly exceptional!

Eyes.
// EYES //
  • I applied the *Natasha Denona Lila Palette (also available at Sephora) in Amara (all over lid), Magnetic (in the crease), Magnolia (as a transition color toward brow) and Juneau (at the brow bone to highlight); the look wore flawlessly (no creasing, no smudging, even in humid seaside weather) for well over 9 hours.
  • *Gucci Smoky Impact Eyeliner in Iconic Black: A touch in my lower waterline for additional impact.
  • *Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara (reviewed HERE): Still impressed with this ultra-dark, volumizing and lengthen formula...two coats and I'm good to go all day.
  • *Plume Science Brow Pomade in Ashy Daybreak: This all natural cream formula--infused with nourishing Plume Science Serum--enhances the shape and volume of brows, adding long-lasting dimension and definition in seconds. Ashy Daybreak is a versatile taupe shade that works well with medium-dark ash brows like mine.

Lips.
// LIPS //
  • Dior Addict Lip Glow Pomade Color Reviver Instant Oil-Gel Care: I purchased this beguiling lip formula last month while in Philadelphia and am still impressed with its silky hydration and non-sticky, glowing pink veil of color; the gel-oil texture is unlike all other lip products in my arsenal and it works so well under matte formulas (as worn below), over nude lip liner or even as an overnight treatment.
  • YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain in #7 Nu Interdit and #11 Rose Illicite: Lightweight with lovely color payoff, this new formula has a soft matte-meets-cream finish that--in my experience--lasts for hours without drying out the lips. #7 Nu Interdit is a rosy beige nude (worn in the images at the end of this post) that is positively effortless, thereby seamlessly blending with a variety of makeup looks and #11 Rose Illicite is a cool medium pink for moments when a bit more color is desired.
