2 Major Things: A Glimpse at the Beauty Professor x LMdB Lip Color Process + A First Look at the YSL All Hours Foundation

The stuff that dreams are made of.
Happy weekend, lovelies! Last month, I announced that I would be collaborating with Le Metier de Beaute to create a custom and exclusive lipstick for the Le Metier de Beaute VIP Subscription Box (sign up through August 1st!) and I couldn’t wait another day to give you a peek at the process. I am beyond honored at the partnership and am working with lab samples to craft a perfect nude pink–not too beige, not too peach, not too cool–that will be universally flattering on a spectrum of skin tones.
Additionally, ever a foundationphile, I have been testing the freshly launched *Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation for the past few weeks and am completely taken with its coverage, finish and performance. Just in time for its arrival at Sephora, I am happy to share a short, yet detailed, review and swatches of all 22 shades.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of these 2 major things in action as well as the Bottom Line…
The best lip colors are a prime mix…synergy in action.
My Le Metier de Beaute x Beauty Professor lipstick will be in a brand new formula; ultra-hydrating and plumping, this lip color will boast significant color payoff and a lush cream finish that will last for hours while making lips look their best.
Because my love of nude lips has been a driving and ubiquitous presence on Beauty Professor, it made perfect sense to develop a color that will embody a harmonious blend of beige, pink and peach, giving one’s pout a nude lips look without washing out one’s face. I am happy to report that I believe I have captured the essence of this exact shade and am over the moon to reveal it this fall. Stay tuned!
The following are a few images from my creation process…
Lab sample swatches.
This collaboration with Le Metier de Beaute has been a joyous endeavor!
To create the color, I blended six lab samples of varying hues, depths, textures and finishes to yield the quintessential BP pinky nude.
Swatching like crazy.
An experiment version of my custom lip color on my lips.
Can’t wait to show you the final product.

Introducing the *Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation
Since the *Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation just launched on the Sephora site this week, I am beyond excited to share swatches of every single shade of this magnificent matte and long-wearing formula.
I had the chance to test it in advance and have been incredibly impressed with its velvety yet lightweight full coverage with a sueded matte finish that truly perfects the look of skin. Despite its “matte” moniker, it actually offers moisture to the skin, leaving it bouncy and balanced all day.  Resistant to sweat and humidity and wildly transfer-proof, this foundation boasts insane longevity while still looking (and feeling) exceptionally natural.
The foundation comes in an impressive range of 22 hues–from the fairest alabaster to the deepest ebony and everything in between–and I found my best match in BD 45 Warm Bisque, which is seamless with my NC 27-30 skin.
This does have a light fragrance (I have lots of positive memories associated with the quintessential YSL base fragrance so I don’t mind it a bit) that dissipates quickly and I’ve determined that the formula plays well with my sensitive skin.
All in all, the *Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation is an absolutely resplendent formula! Ever pursuing a dewy glow, I tend to approach matte foundations with caution but I am pleased to report that the *YSL All Hours is a matte base for those who may not typically embrace matte formulas. It doesn’t feel dry, nor does it crease or crack on the skin and it even develops a tender glow over time. I will continue to experiment with it and plan to have it make a future appearance in an upcoming BP August beauty story at which point I will share even more swatches. In the meanwhile, here are swatches of all 22 shades along with shade descriptions that coincide with classic MAC numbering. For reference, the BR shades have a pink/rosy undertone, the B shades are neutral (equal parts rosy and yellow) and the BD shades have a yellow/golden undertone.

For starters, WOW! Looking at these photos makes my heart skip a beat! This is marvelous for all involved, but I must say LMdB is very lucky to have you at their "creation station" (delving into kid-speak). To see you compose one of your/mine/our beauty loves, the perfect pale pink lip color (the chase is such bliss, isn’t it?) brings me incredible joy on its own. To design it for such an exceptional brand elevates it to a scrumptious new level of elegance. I suppose I am now one step closer to grasping the feeling a climber must experience when they reach the summit of Everest. x P.S. Thank you for sharing this magical process.
