Super Illumination: Featuring Burberry Foundation, Le Metier de Beaute After Glow Blush and New Launches from Chantecaille

The sun is making a major appearance on a consistent basis as of late; consequently, the warm rays of near-summertime are imploring me to share an expanse illuminating products–both classic and brand new–that make skin look bright, glowy and fresh. From a lightweight Burberry base and decadent LE Armani bronzer to incandescent Le Metier de Beaute blushes and radiant Chantecaille options for lips, this post is a countdown to summertime, indeed.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…
Base + Face.
// BASE + FACE // Innovative and high-performance, these products contribute to indisputably radiant skin.
  • In the images at the end of this post, I am wearing a pump of the *Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in 01(also available at Burberry) as a primer (swatches later in the story) and am always please with how well it prepares my skin–which looks kissed with a soft-focus light upon application–for the foundation to come.
  • *Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation (also available at Burberry): Light-to medium coverage with a dewy finish that impressively lasts a full day, this foundation is a fantastic summertime option for skin that looks bouncy and healthy. For reference, #32 Honey is the best match for my currently NC 25-27 skin. More on this formula–including a host of swatches–below.
  • *Hampton Sun Lip Gelee SPF 30 (also to be available at Neiman Marcus): Glossy and nourishing, this brand new balm boasts significant SPF protection and a sweet flavor that makes wearing this formula–which performs well as a rich lip color base–a delight.
  • The *Urban Decay Naked Perfume Oil (available at Sephora for VIB Rouge Members on 6/3 and at Urban Decay on 6/7) is reminiscent of everything one might love about the warmer months…a true skin scent, this alluring little rollerball houses notes of sea, sun and salty air, mixed with coconut, musk and lush florals. The sillage is noteworthy and the lasting power is equally formidable…keep an eye out for the LE release as it is not to be missed.
  • *Plume Science Lash and Brow Enhancing Serum (also available at Revolve): An orbital area conditioner with an impeccably clean ingredients list, this formula can be applied to both lashes and brows to fortify their oft-delicate condition.  Regular usage (the directions mention 6-8 weeks for best results) can encourage growth help follicles to resist breakage. Think of it like daily maintenance akin to applying an anti-aging serum to the face; your lashes and brows will thank you!

*Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation
*Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation (also available at Burberry) Spotlight: Not a new foundation but relatively new to me, this luxe formula possesses a lightweight, buildable texture that minimizes imperfections and discoloration without hampering skin’s natural radiance.
The moisturizing, medium-coverage formula plays well with sensitive skin and, despite its marginally dewy (and lovely, I might add) finish, I get 7-8 hours of touch-up free wear. In sum, *Burberry Fresh Glow is a is a modern classic that wholly deserves the praise it regularly receives.
The foundation comes in a wide range of fourteen shades and I have swatches of eight of the most popular hues for you below:

Official details, courtesy of Nordstrom:
What it is: A foundation that gives your skin a flawless, dewy glow.
Who it’s for: Anyone who wants buildable medium coverage.

What it does: Harnessing mirror-flat reflection pearls, it instantly enhances luminosity while true-color pigments create a radiant, natural-looking finish without hiding the skin. Lightweight and moisturizing, it leaves skin feeling hydrated and soft. It also contains broad-spectrum SPF 12 to protect against UVA/UVB rays and contains the brand’s signature blend of lavender, rosehip and tea.

The *Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in 01 and 02.
Also, for reference, here are swatches of both shades of the *Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base (also available at Burberry); I wear 01 Nude Radiance for most of the year but will be bumping to 02 Golden Radiance my mid-summer…the reviews on this formula are consistently exceptional and I concur. It’s a terrific primer for all skin types!

// CHEEKS + FACE // Enhance your canvas with a veil of flushing color and inimitable illumination.
  • Diminutive yet potent, the new *Chantecaille Poudre Lumière Powder Highlighter (also available at Neiman Marcus) is embossed with a breathtakingly beautiful sun shape. The formula is silky and lightweight and imparts a champagne glow that is ethereal on the high points of the face. I’ve been using this non stop since procuring it earlier this month.
  • As beautiful on the face as it is in the compact, the *Giorgio Armani Life’s a Cruise Sunrise Bronzing Face Palette (also available at Giorgio Armani Beauty and previously reviewed HERE) offers a true brown matte tan experience; the three gradient shades–pale beige, rich brown and light tan–can be customized for intensity and wear like a veritable dream.  The palette is truly unlike any bronzer I currently own!
  • *Le Metier de Beaute Afterglow Blush: A split pan gem; this fresh formula brings blush and highlighter together in a sophisticated manner that allows for individual application or a carefree mixing moment for cheeks that radiate. Keep reading for in-depths thoughts and a closeup of all four available shades.

*Le Metier de Beaute Afterglow Blush Closeup: Finely milled with a weightless finish, these lustrous blush duos feature a face-flattering matte blush on one side and a glowing, coordinating  highlighter on the other. The versatile powders can be applied separately for a blush and illuminate effect or swirled together for one of most naturally lit-from-within results ever.
The shades are beautifully edited for a spectrum of skin tones and the pigment, which applies sheerly, can be built up for maximum intensity. Keep scrolling for shade descriptions and, of course, swatches.

Eyes.
// EYES // Reflect luminosity from windows of your soul with four customizable shades that stand alone or blend together for next-level loveliness.
  • I have been a devotee of *Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color’s brilliant dual-textured formula (also available at Neiman Marcus and previously reviewed HERE + HERE) since its initial release over two years ago. Golden Peach  (gleaming peachy pink) is forever in my handbag and Naked Bronze (rich neutral bronze) is a consistent go-to; consequently, the recent launch of  Young Adonis (neutral light taupe) and Sun Worshipper (delicate pale gold) has further sustained my affinity for this genius pot of radiant pigmentation. The creamy shadow has a foiled finish that resists creasing and the gossamer light powder shadow quickly sets everything while simultaneously increasing the incandescence. At this point in my life, if I had to wear just one eyeshadow formula for the rest of my days, it would, without question, be this one.
  • Dior Pump n’ Volume Mascara (also available at Spring and reviewed HERE): In the images below, I added two coats for full and fluffy jet black lashes with respectable length…loving this formula!

Lips.
// LIPS // Peach, pink and gleaming rose gold pearl for lips that catch light.
  • Housed in a clever clicking tube for precise application on the go, the buttery smooth *Chantecaille Lip Sleek in Tango and Flamingo (also available at Neiman Marcus) features a lush and hydrating formula with a pop of color that initial applies sheer but becomes buildable to an effortless medium coverage. Tango is a light coral peach and Flamingo is a neutral baby pink…both are simply gorgeous and the ease of wear ensures I’ll be reaching for them all summer.
  • Christian Louboutin Metalinude Loubilaque in Preciosa: I recently picked up this dreamy rose gold shade for my mom and I and couldn’t be happier with its stunning pearl-infused radiance. Preciosa is a pale pinky nude metallic that looks incredible alone or combined with nude lip liner; the shade makes lips look full and healthy and the lasting power of this particular formula is immense. The pale hue reminds me of something that Allie McGraw  would have worn in her Love Story era…so good and well worth the investment.

    Hi Rachel,
I adore you and your blog!
I am still wondering what happened with the Armani compact. The one you originally showed (and linked to) had shimmer and was a highlighter and bronzer. This one is just matte. Is there a different one in Europe or did they change it? I cannot find the one with the highlight anywhere. Thanks, Michelle (michelleburnstein[at]gmail.com)

      Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the kind words! The shimmer is a top overspray that goes away after one or two uses so the powders below become essentially satin matte in finish.

      I hope that helps!!

      XO
