A Comprehensive Look at the By Terry Tropical Break Collection + Newness from Cle de Peau and Sisley-Paris

The *By Terry Tropical Sunset Collection.
Last week, I shared a brief preview of the *By Terry Tropical Break Collection. Officially launching this Saturday, April 1st, the swath of products includes two new Sun Designer Palettes, a fresh take on the cult favorite Tea-to-Tan and a genius eyeshadow product in eight creamy shades. Without any further ado, I am excited to share a swatch-heavy overview of the entire collection as well as some novel releases from some of my favorite brands including–but not limited to–*Clé de Peau Beauté (foundation alert!) and *Sisley-Paris.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…

At the heart of the collection are the two new *By Terry Sun Designer Palettes in #3 Tropical Sunset and #4 Savannah Love. Housed in gilded deep purple compacts, these palettes boast a melange of buildable, blendable, long lasting color that heightens the complexion while still looking natural. The shades have excellent color payoff and are unique enough to be worn on both the cheeks and the eyes for a customized look; the possibilities are endless!
For the past year, my love of #2 Light and Tan Vibes has been abundantly apparent; in fact, it is the only product I’ve completely finished and, of course, I promptly purchased a back up. In turn, I am major proponent of the Sun Designer concept and believe that Terry makes one of the best face palettes on the market.  Consequently, Tropical Sunset and Savannah Love–both bursting with wearable tones that harken the warmer months–do not disappoint.  I am also thrilled to confirm that they are markedly different from the first two shade releases (swatched HERE), making these LE wonders well worth the pursuit.
Keep reading for more details and a plethora of swatches for both shades…

The new *By Terry Sun Designer Palettes #3 and #4 shown with the *Melody Susie Makeup Mirror Table Lamp.  This clever creation features a chic lighted mirror for breezy makeup application.  The mirror, however, can be filled horizontally to become a very useful table lamp…it’s truly the best of both worlds!
#3 Tropical Sunset.
#3 Tropical Sunset is an homage to warm and vivid shades. Even though the hues appear bright in the pan, it must be noted that they are still entirely easy to wear, especially for medium and dark skin tones.
The eye-catching left side features:
  • a coral orange blush
  • a true golden highlighter
  • a vibrant magenta blush

More subtle to keep things balanced, the right side has:

  • a light neutral tan
  • a soft suede beige tone
  • a warm russet bronze

#4 Savannah Love.
#4 Savannah Love is rife with dreamy earth tones that range from rosy beige to rich brown. Although one might be apt to attribute the softer tones of Savannah Love to fair and light skin tones (on which, the palette will indeed be beautiful), it must be noted that the shades reflect enough pigment and depth for medium, tan and deep skin tones as well.  Magnifique
The muted left side features:
  • a pale cool pink blush
  • a warm golden highlighter
  • a lush rose blush

More intense to keep things balanced, the right side has:

  • a pale tan
  • a terracotta apricot tone
  • a stunning deep brown

Updated in a convenient spray bottle that makes traveling with this glow-getter a breeze, the
*By Terry Tea-to-Tan Face & Body formula can be misted onto skin for a sheer golden tan that looks impeccably believable.  It works well refine skin on “no-makeup” days but can also be spritzed over makeup (as I did in the images at the end of this post) for a sun-kissed look. The weightless formula dries quickly and does not streak and I’ve found the golden particles to be quite subtle on the skin.
Because there is sheer, yet significant color payoff, I prefer to mist it onto my skin from a 4-6 inch distance and let the fine color particles work their magic.  It can be buffed in with a brush or beauty blender, or, as in the case of applying Tea-to-Tan on my décolleté, I just lightly rub it in until it’s one with my skin. All in all, *By Terry Tea-to-Tan Face & Body is a resplendent option for mimicking the effects of the sun’s rays while on the go.

To round out the collection, I invite you to meet the *By Terry Stylo Blackstars. As a longtime fan of the Ombre Blackstar formula (I’ve purchased at least a half a dozen Bronze Moons in my time), it’s difficult for me to imagine that the exemplary formula (smooth, pigmented and budge-free) could meet its match in another release but such is the case with the Stylos, especially for those who may eschew visible signs of shimmer.
Although the velvet texture and color payoff is reminiscent of the original Ombre Blackstars, that is where the similarities end.  The Stylo Blackstars have a self-sharpening pointed tip that allows for greater control and precision during application; also–as aforementioned–the formula is creamier and less shimmery than most of the shades in the Ombre blackstar lineup. The shadows can be applied sheerly or built to nearly full opacity (that still remains smooth and crease-free on the lids), demonstrating remarkable adaptability.
The Stylo Blackstars come in eight shades.  I have seven swatched below:
  • #1 Smoky Black: Inky true black
  • #2 Purpulyn Gem: Deep aubergine
  • #3 Tasty Truffle: Rich chocolate brown
  • #4 Copper Crush:Warm bronze **My favorite in the lineup
  • #5 Marron Glace: Luminous light champagne taupe
  • #6 Midnight Ombre: Dark navy-meets-indigo
  • #8 Aqua Mint: Cheerful pastel mint green

In addition to the *By Terry Tropical Sunset Collection swatches, I am over moon to share an array of new beauty discoveries from some of my favorite lines.
The Clé de Peau Beauté Protective Cream Tinted comes in three shades.

Up first is the  *Clé de Peau Beauté Protective Cream Tinted in Ocher (also available at Clé de Peau Beauté and Neiman Marcus).  From the moment this was released a few weeks ago, I began to receive reader questions regarding the formula and shade range! Designed to offer supreme sun protection (SPF 50) and instant medium to full coverage, this tinted cream is terrific.

The texture is lightweight and blends to an nearly invisible (yet high coverage) satin matte finish on the skin; it’s all at once healthy and natural looking and high performance. I’ve tested this in humid, sunny weather and got 7-8 hours of flawless wear, thereby supporting the fact that this is an excellent choice for sunny spring and summertime skin.

The *Clé de Peau Beauté Protective Cream Tinted currently comes in three versatile shades:
  • Ivory: Light beige for fair to light skin tones (@N/NC/NW 10-15)
  • Ocher: Medium beige for light-medium to medium skin tones (@N/NC/NW 25-35) **My match
  • Mocha: Deep beige for tan to deep beige skin tones (@N/NC/NW 40-45)

Details & Care
What it is: An innovative, luxurious hybrid tinted cream that provides phenomenal sun protection and beautiful full coverage for a smooth, poreless complexion with an exquisite glow.
What it does: It smooths visible lines for an even skin tone and beautiful complexion while promoting supple, radiant-looking, soft skin while covering dullness for a beautiful finish that lasts for hours. It reduces shine; provides a finish that lasts; protects against oxidation and effects from sun exposure; counteracts the effect of pollution that can accelerate the visible signs of aging; and moisturizes and retexturizes skin while reducing the appearance of damage caused by environmental stress. Its smooth, creamy texture feels velvety soft on your skin.
How to use: Apply to your face following your skin care regimen. Squeeze a small amount of cream onto your fingertips, about the size of two pearls, and apply to five points (forehead, nose, chin and both cheeks) on your face. Smooth evenly over your skin.

Earlier this month, Beautylish released the utilitarian *Wayne Goss The Face Set. The five brushes are insanely soft and apropos for the face, making bronzer, blush, powder and highlighter application a veritable dream.  The glossy black ferrules are weighty and opulent and the dense and flocculent bristles feel like a tender whisper on the face, all the while adeptly distributing and blending product for a seamless finish. I especially love brushes #11 and #15 for effortless bronzer and blush application!

I have been experimenting with the *Nanette de Gaspe Techstile Masque and *Nanette de Gaspe Restorative Techstile Hands Masque and can confirm that the are some of the most luxurious masks I’ve encountered to date.  Made of fabric and adorned with an enchanting scalloped pattern, these dry masks can be used multiple times.  Brimming with anti-aging ingredients, simply gently massage the face or hands after the mask is applied for maximum benefits with minimal effort.  Skin is left smoother, softer and brighter with each treatment!
For the face.
For the hand.
Face, eye and lip gems.
For face, eyes and lips, I am loving the new  *Decorte 3-D Line Control, *3 Custom Color Bright Eyed & Bushy Tailed Duo and Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in Melted Honey. The *Decorte formula inconspicuously fills in fine lines on contact, creating a soft-focus visage that still looks entirely natural. For brighter eyes (and to fake a full night of sleep) in seconds, the *Bright Eyed & Bushy Tailed Duo is brilliant. The matte peachy pink eyeshadow can be swept across the lids (as I did in the images that follow) to counteract darkness and also prime the eyes for additional product to come. The coordinating eyeliner is a bright nude white that, when used in the corners of one’s eyes, creates an immediately revived looking result. Finally the Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in Melted Honey is my favorite shade in the new Rouge Coco Gloss range. Recently reformulated, the gloss is noticeably unsticky and, as the name implies, Melted Honey is a decadent warm beige with enough translucence to play well with the natural color of one’s lips. It’s pure perfection!

Innovative and effective, the *Sisley-Paris White Ginger Contouring Oil for Legs yields the perfect trifecta of hydration, toning and glow. Designed to revive tired legs (I used it extensively while traveling last week) the nourishing formula absorbs instantly while imparting immense moisture. Additionally, I find that it truly reduces puffiness or swelling (from extensive walking or air travel) and makes my legs feel incredibly toned and lithe.  The gorgeous, shimmer-free radiance is a bonus and I know I’ll be embracing this frequently this spring and summer.

Details & Care
What it is: White Ginger Contouring Oil for Legs, or Huile Affinante au Gingembre Blanc pour les Jambes, offers a complete solution for women looking for lighter-feeling legs.
What it does: Combined with a specific massage technique, this oil offers four targeted results that include energizing, remodeling, toning and enhancing. Skin is left softer, smoother and more toned, and day after day your legs feel lighter and your silhouette appears reshaped. This silky-textured oil is easy to apply, leaving behind a satiny veil, while its aromatic essences and fresh fragrance promote a sensation of well-being.
How to use: To achieve the best feeling of tone and lightness, the suggested application is morning or evening. Apply at the ankles to the top of your legs and hips, using the following technique. Apply from the arch of your foot, moving up with circular movements around the ankles with your fingertips. Then, massage the calf by lightly stroking with one hand after the other, moving up from the ankle toward the knee, then around the knee, pressing firmly with an upward motion to stimulate draining. Repeat the same action on the thigh, starting at the knee and moving up to the top of the buttock. Follow with large, firm, circular movements with the palms of both of your hands, moving up from the knee toward the buttock and hip. Repeat this technique three times on each leg.

    Hello Rachel!
I routinely read your posts but have never commented. However, today you mentioned By Terry's Tea to Tan. Did you spritz it onto a brush and then apply? Or did you just spray directly on your face? I ask because when I spritzed it onto my hand, just to see what it looked like, it was so intense I was afraid it would spoil my makeup. As a result, it has languished in the drawer for over a year. Please help!

      Hello Sandy,

Lovely to hear from you! I just went back into the post to update my application details after reading your question. Yes, the Tea-to-Tan is pigmented so a little goes a long way. I may mist it a few inches from my face for an all over glow, or spray some onto a brush for more precise application. This updated bottle seems to give me more control, overall…loving it!

      Hope that helps…xx,

      Hello, Anon!

Thanks for your comment and question! Yes, I do think the palettes could be used as eyeshadow as well…the shades are pigmented, blendable and long lasting as well as unique enough to create a lovely look on the eye…I actually went back into my post to clarify that after reading your question ; )
