// READING MATERIAL // With a focus on fashion, beauty, love and the female experience, here are five books that I consistently recommend.
  • The Price of Illusion by Joan Juliet Buck: I read this riveting memoir in two days; in other words, I couldn't put it down. Detailing Ms. Buck's illustrious path as a writer for a vast array of publications including Vogue and Vanity Fair, the book is poignant, emotive and inspiring.
  • Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann: Indulgence on every level, I read this cult-classic every couple of years for a dramatic departure from everyday life.
  • The Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake: With a heavy focus on glamour, the 1970s Paris setting transports the reader to a pre-Internet time in history, rife with an insider's look at emerging fashion icons in their element.
  • Gidget by Frederick Kohner: One of my favorite books of life, this timeless coming-of-age tome was way ahead of its time. One read and you'll know what I mean...pick one up for you and the young daughter or niece in your life!
  • *Links by Lisa Becker: A breezy love story with an intellectual edge, bring this new release on your winter vacation for escapism with refreshingly real touch.

The beauty of a giving heart...gifts from the World Vision gift catalog
// GIVING TO HELP OTHERS // My husband and I have sponsored a child through World Vision for years and feel so strongly about the important work the organization is doing to assist the impoverished. This year, I am excited to highlight the World Vision gift catalog, which offers a spectrum of incredible handcrafted gifts that help children in need all over the globe. Some of my favorite picks include:
  • *The Hope Bracelet: This adjustable golden cuff is a gorgeous fusion of nature and metal.
  • *The Infinity Scarf: Super soft and billowing, this scarf comes in a color palette that will flatter a spectrum of skin tones.
  • *The African Soapstone Box: Excellent for animal lovers, it's a perfectly unique place to house one's treasures.
  • *The Charm Necklace: Featuring tiny charms on a long silver chain, this necklace will please those with the most eclectic taste.
  • *The Wraparound Ring: Two offset stones catch light in a graceful and sophisticated way (also shown HERE).
  • *The Vietnamese Tote: Hand-embroidered and remarkably roomy, this fabric bag works to carry a variety of day-to-day items.

The contents of the the Magic Box strike a perfect harmony between skincare and color and, thankfully for a beauty lover like me, the full-size items are more plentiful in the color category. Keep scrolling for a full breakdown of all twelve drawers; in the meanwhile, I must mention that some of the standouts for me include the sultry platinum Eyes to Mesmerize in Jean (what took me so long to try this?) and the vibrant Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of Shame which effortlessly pairs with a shimmering gloss.

// SKIN + BASE ETC. //
  • *Le Metier de Beaute Detoxifying Charcoal and Coconut Face Mask: This clarifying formula looks downright ethereal on the skin once it dries down; the glassy texture is intriguing, indeed! That being said, the active charcoal and soothing coconut work to gently cleanse pores without irritation, leaving my skin hydrated, clarified and extra glowy.
  • *Rahua Amazon Oil (also available at Net-A-Porter): Originating in the rain forest and rich with anti-oxidants, this multipurpose oil can be used on face and body to moisturize and tone...I love the incredible ingredients and long-lasting hydration, especially in the dry winter air.
  • *Decorte Sheer Brilliance in Medium (reviewed HERE): I applied just a few drops of this tinted base to even my complexion; it smells incredible, imparts a subtle glow and possesses impressive SPF...truly a brilliant formula.
  • Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick in Sable (reviewed HERE): A long-time foundation favorite, I used a touch of this formula in the center of my face to further even and refine my canvas.
  • *Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne: This new fragrance discovery is utterly divine; reminiscent of a walk along a forested sea cliff, the woodsy notes are offset by a refreshing wave of oceanic presence. I own nothing like it in my current fragrance wardrobe and, consequently, am thrilled to add it to the mix.

  • *Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Jean: A silky champagne-platinum hue with plenty of luminosity, this cream eyeshadow formula resists creasing and wears flawlessly for hours on end. It's a breezy wash of color that should be in everyone's makeup bag...truly classic.
  • *Le Metier de Beaute Dualistic Eyeliner in Azul and Roxo: The newest additions to the LMdB line, these color-rich eyeliners in peacock green and russet-meets-garnet glide on and stay in place. For the look below, I applied Azul in my lower water line and Roxo along my upper lash line for a creative yet wearable take on color.
  • *Tom Ford Fullscreen Lash Mascara (reviewed HERE): Two coats adds impressive fullness and length...I am loving this new formula!

  • *Blue Lagoon Iceland Lip Balm: Exceptionally hydrating, this new balm discovery--which harnesses the power of  Blue Lagoon Algae--is well worth the pursuit.
  • *Charlotte Tilbury Walk of Shame: Boasting excellent color payoff, I swept a single coat of this warm berry shade onto my lips.
  • *Lipstick Queen Altered Universe Lip Gloss in Time Warp and Space Cadet (also available at Neiman Marcus): The latest from the venerable Lipstick Queen, both of these glimmering glosses are brimming with light-reflecting particles that bathe lips in an incandescent wash of subtle color. In the images that follow, I applied the pink-tinged Time Warp over Walk of Shame for a tender glow and I can't wait to wear the cooler-toned pearly Space Cadet over nude lip liner. Non-sticky with excellent lasting power, this is tastefully-executed shimmer for grown ups!
