Video: A Natural Golden Bronze Look Tutorial + Swatches and A Face of the Day

This past weekend, I created a warm, natural golden bronze look for one of my students (who, incidentally, was headed off to prom) and enjoyed filming the process–tutorial style–as illustrated by the video that follows.

The footage is a touch off-center, but I’d like to think that adds to the absolute authenticity of the endeavor ; )

Finally, because I liked the ease and glow of the look so much, I recreated it again for myself!

Kindly scroll on for the video, additional details, product swatches and images of the aforementioned face of the day…

Tools of the trade.
Product Overview
Skincare and haircare.
Complexion perfectors.
New to Beautylish, iconic French brand Makeup Atelier
In the subsequent FOTD towards the end of this post, I swapped out the TEMPTUAir (which I recently used in a previous story) for a new foundation with which I’ve been experimenting.  The Makeup Atelier Fluid Foundation offers gorgeous medium to full coverage that works well in high definition situations as it is nearly invisible on the skin.
The fragrance-free formula is kind to sensitive skin and also entirely waterproof, making it an excellent option for the summertime months ahead. I can wear both FLW4Y Gilded Honey (shown below) and FLW3Y Yellow Medium; they are in the NC 25-27 range and blend flawlessly.
I prefer to apply this formula with a dampened Beauty Blender and only need a single pump for even, medium to full coverage that lasts 6-8 hours without requiring a touch up…prepare for a comprehensive, swatch-heavy review soon!

All about eyes (and brows).
A close up of the impeccable Maybelline Colossal Spider Effect VolumExpress Mascara…so worth tracking down!

Mission golden eye complete.
BP and Jess following our tutorial…her makeup perfectly complimented her unique dress (HERE).
In my FOTD below, I also swapped out the Topshop lipstick (which I gave to Jess so she could reapply throughout her night) and used a mixture of the Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick in a mixture of Noble (a pale peach cream) and Melancholia (a soft rosy baby pink) for a 1960’s mod look that was subtle yet strong.

The following images reflect all products in action in afternoon sunlight.  I got this blouse with chili peppers last season, but here is a similar style–by Equipment–with darling anchors and another with bananas (on sale!)…

Golden bronze eye sans the Metals in Pharaoh (I was headed out and didn’t need the extra gleam!).

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed watching this video tutorial and found the product swatches and images interesting and insightful!  What caught YOUR eye?  Do tell!
Good things ahead, including a fragrance focus and a host of new product procurements…summertime is almost here and I have lots to update you on (travel! job! speaking engagements!) in the coming days.
