Which Foundation Did I Finish First?

Above: My first empty in awhile...the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation, resplendent in the sunshine along with a custom made makeup pouch by Seth Wegter Bags and my favorite TF lip gloss, Naked (reviewed HERE...on tube 3).
I spend an absurd amount of time pursuing, swatching, testing and writing about base products here at Beauty Professor.  There is just something wildly thrilling about tracking down the latest release and experiencing its transformative powers.  Imagine my delight, then, when I discovered that my latest empty was none other than a foundation, namely, the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation (available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks).

Kindly scroll on for more details and images of the foundation in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above Other makeup used in my look that follows.
I picked up this gem last July (a full spectrum of swatches and details HERE) and use the shade Natural (my current empty...apropos for NC 25-27 skin) in the warmer months and a mixture of Natural and Fawn (demonstrated HERE) in the winter and early spring when I am in the NC 23-25 range.  This foundation:
  • Offers buildable medium to full coverage
  • Blurs fine lines and visible pores for an ultra smooth effect
  • Has a natural skin finish that gets slightly glowy after a few hours
  • Is kind to sensitive skin
  • Works best when blended onto skin with a damp beauty blender
  • Has incredible lasting power...especially evident when the weather is warm and humid.  This formula does not budge!

In the images that follow, I am wearing:

Above: Headed off to The Makeup Show LA.
Above: At The Makeup Show a few hours later...better camera, better resolution...the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation doesn't quit!

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this homage to fully using the contents of a product.  Words cannot adequately express how satisfying it can be, especially for someone who is (delightfully, I might add) inundated in beauty options!  I love the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation (available at Neiman MarcusNordstromBergdorf Goodman and Saks) and anticipate running through my new bottles of Natural and Fawn, yet again, in the coming months.  What is the most recent foundation YOU have finished?

Good things ahead including two swatch-laden foundation reviews (hint: one is a brand new release and the other is a marvelous green option), fresh product procurements, my March Favorites video (where did the month go?), a skincare update and a host of other musings!

xx,

5 Ways to Get Your Glow On

Above: Options for the quintessential glow.
Illuminating products can be tricky...too much radiance and the "glow" can translate as (gasp!) oily and too little luminosity and one is compelled to ask, what's the point?  Consequently, I am excited to share 5 incandescent beauty finds so you can get your glow on!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: The Giorgio Armani Fluid Eye Color in Senso and Rose Ashes.
First up...how to deliver radiance to the eyes.  I love the gossamer texture of the Giorgio Armani Fluid Eye Color (available at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom and swatched + reviewed HERE); it feels like a lush cream upon contact, but dries down to a luminous power finish that lasts for hours without creasing.  The shimmer is so fine and complex that it doesn't dance into glitter territory; quite refreshingly, it perfectly embodies the concept of the "satin finish."  Two of my favorite shades from this formula are Senso, a medium warm bronze-meets- brown and Rose Ashes, a rose gold beige.  Worn together (with Senso as a base and Rose Ashes as a blend to the brow shade), they effortlessly convey a luminous neutral vibe.
Above: Swatches of Rose Ashes and Senso in direct sunlight.
Above: Wearing Senso and Rose Ashes on the lids...satin finish at its best.
Above: Armani Senso and Rose Ashes...a perfect pairing.
Above (from top to bottom): Glow for face and lips...Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting, Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Color in Golden Peach, Chantecaille Galactic Lipshine in Polaris and Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Palette
Next, are four more befitting options for an ethereal visage.  For the face, I've been loving the *Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting (available at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom and reviewed HERE).  Housed in an airless pump this rich fluid blends seamlessly for a "second skin" effect that adds a subtle sheen.  It can be mixed into foundation for increased radiance or tapped on top of makeup to bring light to the face.  The *Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Luminizing Palette (available at Neiman Marcus and reviewed HERE) is a genius way to pinpoint glow on your canvas...with 5 custom cream shades of varying hue and intensity, this gem allows for endless, luminous creativity!

For lips, I the Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Color in Golden Peach (available at Nordstrom, Sephora and Neiman Marcus and reviewed HERE) has had a permanent position in my purse this spring.  The hydrating texture glides on like a gloss but delivers the pigmentation of a lipstick and this pearly peachy nude is simply gorgeous on its own (for a pared down look) or over a darker lip liner (for more multidimensional effect).  Akin to "light in a tube," the *Chantecaille Galactic Gloss in Polaris (available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Space.NK and reviewed HERE and HERE) is a dreamy iridescent gel that is at once moisturzing and nourishing.  It provides lush shine on contact and, in a pinch, can also be used as a highlighter on the face (trust me, I've tried while on the go!).

Bottom Line:  I hope you enjoyed this glow breakdown and would love to know what some of YOUR favorite glow-inducing products are?

Good things ahead...foundation swatches, new product procurements, a couple of videos and a skincare update...so much to do, so little time!

I will be covering The Makeup Show LA this weekend as well so Sunday will be my day to catch up on comments, emails and the like ; )

Happy cusp of the weekend...xx,

Burberry Kisses: What's Not to Love?

Above: Burberry Kisses make their debut.
I have already preliminarily mentioned the freshly-debuted *Burberry Kisses (HERE and HERE) and now am thrilled to offer an adoring overview of this gorgeous formula.  Available at Nordstrom, Burberry and Saks, Burberry Kisses comes in 28 color saturated shades ranging from the palest nude to the deepest oxblood; lipstick lovers are sure to find one (or 10) exceptional hues to make their own!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of Burberry Kisses in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: The gunmetal magnetic cases with iconic plaid design lend to the luxury of this exceptional lipstick.
The Burberry Kisses formula is fascinating...the texture is cushiony yet light and the buildability is unprecedented.  One coat offers silky, sheer coverage while two or three coats builds to full opacity for a pigmented, glowing (albeit, sans shimmer) finish that leaves lips simultaneously natural and perfected.

Intensely moisturizing, this lipstick performs like a balm while yielding stunning color for a delightful outcome.  I am beyond pleased with the fact that the Burberry Kisses formula does not possess fragrance of any kind; this is a massive improvement on the lovely, yet highly scented original lip color formulas in the Burberry line.  My perennially dry lips seem to love Burberry Kisses as they stay smooth and balanced over the course of wear!

In short, the Burberry Kisses formula is:
  • Buildable for maximum customization
  • Extremely hydrating
  • Color saturated
  • Slightly glossy, but with a smooth, creamy finish
  • Devoid of shimmer
  • Marvelously unscented
  • Kind to sensitive lips
  • An evenly wearing lip color...no patches or setting in lines
  • Expansive...28 shades to be exact
  • A beautiful addition to the iconic Burberry Beauty line...what's not to love?

Official details, courtesy of Nordstrom

Burberry Kisses is effortlessly buildable lip color designed to give you multiple lip looks with just one shade. The weightless, gel-texture formula delivers a customizable makeup result—a single kiss of color gives understated luminosity while two or three give intense depth and vibrancy. A rich blend of satin-finish pigments and shiny polymers gives luminous color brilliance. The lipstick is enriched with the brand's signature blend of tea, lavender and rose hip and it glides on with supreme comfort, offering six hours of continuous hydration.

Onto the closeup of Nude Beige, Nude Pink, Devon Sunset, Bright Coral, Claret Pink and Garnet...

Above: #01 Nude Beige is a pale beige with just enough peach to bring life to the lips...it reminds me of something Catherine Deneuve might have worn in the 1960's.

Above: #05 Nude Pink is a warm rosy beige for a muted, "my lips but better" feel.  This shade pairs well with every makeup look imaginable.

Above: #61 Devon Sunset is a creamy pink-tinged peach for a subtle pop of color...I love its ability to be both bright and restrained at the same time.
Above: Devon Sunset alone on the lips.
Above: #73 Bright Coral is a classic red-based coral with a vivid energy.
Above: Bright Coral alone on the lips...like a trip to Italy in the 1950s.
Above: #45 Claret Pink is a bright, cool-toned fuchsia.  It's at once simple and electric.

Above: #81 Garnet is a rich burgundy that feels both medieval and modern...a fresh take on the vampy lip.

Bottom Line: The Burberry Kisses formula (available at NordstromBurberry and Saks) is simply divine...hydrating, pigmented, buildable and brilliant, the fact that this lip color is unscented merely adds to the bliss!  As an unapologetic nude lover, my tastes gravitate towards the peachy pink goodness of Nude Pink and Devon Sunset, although I enjoy the adventure of wearing the deep, mysterious, slightly-vampy Garnet as well ; )

What Burberry Kisses shade catches YOUR eye?

Good things ahead, including new product procurements, a couple of foundation formula intensives (with swatches galore) and a video tutorial.  This is set to be a crazy week so thanks, in advance, for your patience as I work my way through responding to your lovely comments and emails!

xx,
