Above: The official details.
The whimsical story of the Kiss Elixir, courtesy of Rouge Bunny Rouge:

The Thorn Fairies in the Enchanted Garden do suffer for their impudent work, but still love to look gorgeous!

Inspired by their quest for hard-working beauty this lusciously hydrating, healing balm with a subtle shine keeps lips soft and kissable even in the midst of winter. A soothingly rich, oil-infused elixir with just a hint of vanilla and most sensuous glide, melts as smooth and creamily as butter.  Go ahead and invite dreamy nuzzling with your beautifully protected and bewitchingly comfortable lips.

Based on a soothing blend of precious natural oils and butters, our KISS ELIXIR Lip Balm is lovely for every winter-tired pout, while offering natural skin protection throughout the year.
This expert balm’s unique rich and creamy texture that leaves lips ultra soft is suffused with Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil and Shea Butter to offer immediate relief for dry and chapped lips. Scent-free Beeswax and precious Aloe Extract soothe and provide a completely non- sticky finish.  The delightful flavour of Vanilla brings a pleasant sensation of comfort.

Our clear Lip Balm can be applied with just your fingertips, doubles as lip gloss and offers superior hydration and a sustainably soothing, nourishing effect.  Winter-safe: free from water.

The Kiss Elixir Lip Balm is superb.  The clear formula has a plush texture that instantly nourishes the lips, leaving them looking plump, juicy and moderately shiny.  Although it is delightfully non-sticky, there is enough "tack" to enhance its longevity.  My perennially dry lips are vastly improved with every application! All in all, this is a must for lip balm lovers, Rouge Bunny Rouge devotees and those in need of immediate lip hydration...highly recommended.

Super Subtle Pinky Nude Look + a New Drugstore Foundation Discovery

Above: Products to create a super subtle nude look.
This past weekend, I was gifted with the treat of sticking close to home; this relaxed time enabled me to catch up on some work, run a round of errands and preliminarily celebrate my husband's birthday.  I also managed to pick up a new drugstore foundation (on a whim!) that inspired me to create a super subtle nude look, featured in this post.

Kindly scroll on for details on the foundation and images of the subtle look as well the Bottom Line...
Above: My first drugstore foundation in ages...this formula is impressive.
The L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation caught my eye due to its streamlined packaging (I have a penchant for squeeze tubes...so apropos for the handbag) and boast of 24 hour performance.  A quick perusal of mostly favorable Makeup Alley reviews was just the catalyst I needed to toss shade #105 Natural Beige into my cart of (mostly) household essentials.  I have since tried this foundation three times and each trial has yeilded favorable results!

The foundation:
  • Offers medium to full coverage; Natural Beige is an extremely suitable match for NC 25-27 skin tones
  • Smooths onto skin without an overly "silicon-y" finish (I apply with a dampened beauty blender
  • Is completely unscented (magnifique!)
  • Blurs pores and fine lines and doesn't sink into either as the day wears on...it also doesn't exhibit any oxidation
  • Has a satin-matte finish that doesn't look flat; however, it dries down matte enough to not require powder to set
  • Has remarkable lasting power (8-10 hours with little to no touchups).  I am not in the market to test the purported 24 hour longevity of this formula (I like to sleep at some point) but its wear time, in my experience, is formidable.
  • In terms of texture, finish and wear reminds me most of the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation...this is an excellent drugstore alternative.
I am often asked to suggest drugstore options on par with my favorite high-end foundations (Shu Uemura! Sensai! Dolce and Gabbana! Tom Ford!) and I am thrilled to be able to recommend the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation for those seeking an affordable formula that offers medium to full coverage and a satin matte finish!

Above: Shade #105 Natural Beige is a great match for NC 25-27 skin.
Above: The full ingredients list...remarkably short, no?
Above: A swatch of Natural Beige in outdoor lighting.
To build the look that follows, I found myself embracing some classic favorites (from Charlotte Tilbury and Surratt Beauty) and new procurements (from Giorgio Armani Beauty and Becca).

Bottom Line: I hope your week is off to a marvelous start and that enjoyed this brief venture back into pinky nude territory.  The L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation was a delightful discovery for me and I am excited to continue experimenting with it.

What are some of YOUR drugstore discoveries as of late?  Do share!

Good things ahead, including some new product profiles (Hourglass!  Bobbi Brown! Mirenesse! , a skincare update and an everyday makeup routine video ; )

FOTD: Everyday Glamour with Vintage Cosmetics by Jessica Liebeskind

Above: Introducing...Vintage Cosmetics (shown here with Sparkling Lipgloss in Papaya)
I am always thrilled to happen upon a new independent beauty line; the inherent joy of experiencing someone's vision coming to fruition never ceases to fascinate me.  Enter, Vintage Cosmetics by Jessica Liebeskind.  Jessica's background as both a product developer and a makeup artist provided her with the unique capabilities to create a line that harmoniously balances form and function with crafted precision.  From the sleekly pristine white and gold packaging to the richly pigmented, high performing formulas, this line's everyday glamour is easy to embrace.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and FOTD images of the Vintage Cosmetics products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: The Blush and Brighten Face Palette in Pink Coral/Flamingo...bright, yet totally wearable.
(1) The Blush and Brighten Face Palette (in Pink Coral/Flamingo): I was initially stunned by the vivid pans of blush this palette holds, however, when applied sparingly, these powders possess the power to bring a very flattering natural brightness to the face that is neither too intense nor over the top.  The powders are finely milled and apply with ease, melding to an almost invisible texture on the skin; there is no shimmer whatsoever, yet the blushes do not look flat or chalky.  Very impressive!

Official details: This comes in two colors: Blossom/Poppy and Pink Coral/Flamingo. The Pink Coral/Flamingo is not just for “coral girls” but a universal palette that can be enjoyed by every women of every skin tone. Jess really believes that every woman needs two shades of blush, one neutral shade to give a soft glow to the skin and a brighter shade to add a pop of pretty color. And she designed her palettes to be just that. A perfect everyday neutral (Blossom/Pink Coral respectively) and a statement-making bright shade (Poppy/Flamingo respectively), designed to be worn separately or together.

(2) Brighten and Define Eye Shadow Palette (in Lace/Caviar): Despite owning an absurd amount of makeup, I can safely say that I have never owned an eyeshadow as seemingly white as Lace.  That being said, once swatched, I was pleasantly surprised by how sheer and brightening this unique shade is...I brushed it liberally along my upper lids and it yielded the most lovely porcelain effect, once again without employing the use of shimmer. I added a bit more in my under eye region and was shocked by how well it unified the area. The Caviar shade is much darker than it appears in the swatch, especially when applied with a tiny brush.  I swept it along my upper and lower lashlines (it glided on with ease) and the intense inky trail it created was both precise and transfer resistant.  This is a genius palette for a simple, classic eye.

Official details: this is an eye-enhancing essential designed to be worn together or with your favorite shadow shares. Each palette features two easy-to-use matte shadows, the light color is a brightening all-over base color and the dark shade is an eye-defining liner. The palette is available in two shades, designed for skin tone — Lace/Caviar for extra light to light skin, and Vanilla/Espresso for medium to tan skin. Jess calls this product the bra and underwear of your beauty routine :)

(3) Velvet Lip Crayon (in Candy Coral): Pigmented with a glossy finish, this lush lip pencil acts as an excellent lipstick alternative.  My lips felt hydrated and comfortable over the duration of wear and Candy Coral is a bright, yet totally do-able coral red that I suspect would compliment a spectrum of skin tones. Lovely!

Official details: This is a statement-making way to wear modern, matte color! Creamy, smooth and luxuriously comfortable, this long-lasting, non-drying formula creates a plush, velvety finish on the lips. Available in three easy-to-wear shades.  Each shade features a hint of pink and complements lip tone for natural-looking color and universal wearability. Wear alone or layer with Sparkling Lipgloss for added shine.  Doubles as a cream blush in a pinch.

(4) Sparkling Lipgloss (shown in Papaya): Plush and moisturizing (and not overly sticky!), this lip gloss has a serious shine factor.  The color payoff is quite significant for a lip gloss formula and the reflective micro-shimmer adds fullness and dimension to the lips in a single coat.  I was initially concerned that Papaya may be too dark for my taste, but found that it pairs perfectly with Candy Coral, thereby creating a juicy, soft reddish coral that is simultaneously modern and timeless.  I can't wait to try this gloss in the lighter shades as well!

Official details: Give lips a beautiful glittery glow with Jessica’s Sparkling Lipgloss. This sheer, reflective formula provides luminous shine and sophisticated shimmer in an easy-to-use wand with brush applicator. Sparkling Lipgloss can be worn alone, over your favorite lipstick or with a lip pencil for a perfectly polished pout. Ultra nourishing, this gloss delivers soft color in mistake-proof shades that look great on every skin tone.
