Beauty Professor "Style Short" Video: Everyday Festival

Above: My "Everyday Festival" look.
Hello, lovelies!  I am excited to share the first of many planned "Style Shorts," featuring a fashion + beauty look I love that, in most cases, effortlessly transitions from one situation to another.  In this brief video, I've teamed up with Nasty Gal to showcase my take on the concept of the "Everyday Festival."  In other words, clothing, footwear and beauty that can be worn at a festival just as reasonably as out to dinner on the weekend.  I adore versatility!

Kindly scroll on for the video, additional details, swatches and images as well as the Bottom Line...

**Filmed by Seth Wegter
**Music: "Slow Shock" by Silent Partner

Products Included

(1) *MAKE Cosmetics Solstice Bronzer: This multicolored mosaic bronzer is velvety smooth and imparts a warm, light tan glow that is radiant without the slightest glint of glitter.  In the video, I applied it as a light contour and bronzer.  Visit HERE for my full review of the MAKE foundation and lipstick!
(2) *MAKE Cosmetics Matte Finish Blush in Nude Sand: This uber-neutral shade has just enough peachy pink to liven up the face without competing with a bold lip.  Although it is "matte," the silky texture becomes one with the face and offers a beautiful skin-finish.
(3) *MAKE Cosmetics Matte Finish Eyeshadow in Khaki: Much darker than a traditional khaki green, this rich sable brown glides on sheer and can be built to full opacity with a bit of blending.  Even though it is matte, there is no powdery finish or particle fallout, just smooth, even lids with gorgeous neutral depth.
(4) *Lime Crime Velvetine Liquid Lipstick in Riot: I am new to this particular formula in the Lime Crime family (visit HERE for my review of LC Babette) and am impressed by how pigmented this liquid lipstick is.  Truly a little goes a very long way and the shade Riot is a deep rosy nude that all at once looks classic and modern.  It dries down to a nearly matte finish but my lips don't feel dry or uncomfortable...also, this formula works very well as a base stain with a lighter lipstick (like Tom Ford Nude Vanille, reviewed HERE) or under a shimmery gloss for additional versatility.
(5) *Nasty Gal Stop Short Cutout Dress (runs true to size...worn in size small):  An interesting take on the little black dress, this high-necked, low back gem has long sleeves and slightly flouncy short skirt.  I have a penchant for backless numbers and this dress does not disappoint in that department...the tie neck looks graceful when hair is pulled up and the timeless cut makes this dress one that can be worn again and again!
(6) *Nasty Gal Fox Fire Leather Boot (runs true to size...worn in  size 7):  Also featured HERE, these soft leather black boots have a slightly western flair that allows them to effortlessly be dressed up or down.  The 1 1/2 inch heel is perfect for a touch of lift and lots of comfort and the sale price cannot be beat for the overall quality of these booties!  I cannot wait to pair them with cutoffs and jeans and will be taking them out of town with me later on this week.

Bottom LineThank you so much for watching...I hope you enjoyed this video and would love to hear what you think of this new addition to the Beauty Professor library!  I cannot say enough good things about the MAKE Cosmetics Matte Finish Blush in Nude Sand (which has had a permanent place in my makeup bag as of late) and the super-comfy Fox Fire Leather Boots are currently on sale if you've been in the market for a versatile bootie to dress up or down.

Good things ahead including a May 2015 Favorites video (currently in the works and slated to go live in the next few days), a skincare routine update, fresh lip color and new product procurements ; )

Finally, I'm heading to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in a few days...any sightseeing or shopping destination recommendations?

Beauty + Style Hybrid Post: Wild Hair, Glowing Skin and, Dare I Say it...OVERALLS

Above: Overalls from Nasty Gal.
In honor of the weekend, I offer you an uber-relaxed outfit + beauty post, replete with tranquil nature, wild hair and distressed denim.  Honestly, I never thought I would find myself wearing overalls again but *this patched pair (currently on sale), coupled with a basic black tank top and *leather booties (also on sale!) makes brilliant, soon-to-be-summertime sense.  Let's just say they've already received quite a bit of action in my "casual clothes" rotation!

Kindly scroll on for more images, details and the Bottom Line...

Above: Even skin, pale taupe eyes and flushed pink lips tame an otherwise wind-rendered unruly braid (hair and beauty details below).
Above: Sleek aesthetics and impressive performance...haircare from R+Co.
Initial haircare for this look consists of three products from the luscious R+Co line:
Above: The Marula Shimmering Gold Oil is a plush and emollient formula with a gorgeous, non-glittery glow.
I used a pump of the luxurious *African Botanics Marula Shimmering Gold Oil to condition my arms...the immense moisture and tender glow it yields is covet worthy.  As a multi-tasking bonus, I applied the excess oil on my palms to my braid, which added additional shine and manageability, especially when the braid was removed.  This oil is an absolutely worthy splurge and the benefits, ingredients and instant radiance cannot be beat!

Official details, courtesy of SpaceNK:

An ultra-nourishing gold shimmering, rare fusion that illuminates every complexion and can be used on face, body and hair.

Infused with an exquisite antioxidant-rich complex of restorative African Marula, Moringa, Baobab and Kalahari Melon seed oils especially chosen for their resilience to harsh climatic conditions
& ability to deeply nourish, soothe, soften & maintain skin youthfulness & firmness. Light and airy in texture, it captures and reflects the radiant splendour of glimmering African sunsets, beautifying with translucent mother of pearl minerals to illuminate skin and enhance its natural radiance. Meadowfoam oil improves skin vitality, while an aromatic blend of Gardenia and macerated Magnolia enhanced by fresh Neroli and Vanilla Bean create a beautiful floral scent.

Above: Skincare and beauty for a delicately casual look.
In terms of skincare + makeup, I applied:
Above: My favorite bronzer as of late...the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze.
Above: Light and heavy swatches of the Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Charming.
Above: Makeup closeup and a bit of shine on the braid.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this beauty and style hybrid post; if you love comfortable clothes with an edge as I do, perhaps you will join me in this overall resurgance!  This pair from Nasty Gal runs true to size (I wear a small and appreciate the majorly roomy fit)  and, as aforementioned, a basic black tank top and some booties create a full-fledged outfit in a flash.

Working on so many good things this weekend including a couple of videos, a skincare update and a round of new product procurements...what are you up to?  Also in the process of responding to your latest lovely batch of emails and comments...thanks, as always, for your patience!

Kjaer Weis Newness + the Solution for Second Day Hair

Above: Kjaer Weis gems, resplendent in the sunlight.
The Kjaer Weis line (available at BeautylishNet-A-PorterSpirit Beauty Lounge and Beauty Bar) possesses a gorgeous duality of form and function; from the weighty, streamlined metal cases to the stunning, all-natural, skin-friendly, pigmented creams and powders they house, each product feels like a precious gem, just waiting to be unearthed (KW cream foundation review HERE). Designed by Danish-born, NY-based makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis, this line takes sustainable beauty (most products are refillable, thereby drastically reducing waste) to an unprecedented level of organic high performance!  I recently had the pleasure of trying some new releases from the spring collection alongside a couple of staples in classic shades.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches, images of the Kjaer Weis line in action AND the latest solution for second day hair, courtesy of Sally Hershberger as well as the Bottom Line...
Above: What a delight to finally meet Kirsten Kjaer Weis in person last month at the chic Violet Grey boutique.
Above: Kjaer Weis Lip Tints in Amazed, Rapture and Beloved.
The *Kjaer Weis Lip Tints, which come in 10 shades, feature a creamy, moisturizing, buildable texture that imparts a lovely, pigmented-saturated sheen on the lips.  One layer creates a sheer, gossamer veil, while an additional coat or two yields nearly full opacity.  My lips feel nourished, balanced and the glowing finish impressively lasts for hours!
  • Amazed is a silky lilac that pale pink and nude lovers will adore.
  • Rapture is a fuchsia-meets-red for a bright pop of color.
  • Beloved is a sheer grape for a dark neutral effect.

Ingredients: ricinus communis (castor) seed oil* , caprylic/capric triglyceride, euphobia cerifera (candelilla) wax, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax*, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter*, zea mays (corn) starch*, cera alba (beeswax)*, rosa rubiginosa (rosehip) seed oil*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, gardenia florida fruit extract, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil*, ammonium glycyrrhizate, non-gmo tocopheryl acetate (nature-identical), limonene**. - See more at:

Above: The Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow in Wisdom.
I must admit,  I was beyond shocked by the uber-pigmented blissfully taupe wonder, otherwise known as the *Kjaer Weis Eyeshadow in Wisdom. This finely-milled, velvety smooth formula glides over lids with radiant richness, leaving a neutral taupe wash in its wake.  No creasing, no fallout, just ultra-flattering depth that would compliment a spectrum of eye colors.  Wisdom is truly a standout and definitely an excellent foray into the Kjaer Weis line!

Ingredients: talc, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, bambusa arundinacea (bamboo) stem powder, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, non-gmo tocopheryl acetate (nature-identical),gardenia florida (gardenia) fruit extract, lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, zinc stearate.

Above: The Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Joyful.
Finally, the *Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Joyful is just that...unadulterated, unmitigated joy!  This cheery peach-meets-coral shade is just right for the apples of the cheeks...a touch of luminosity and a pinch of color instantly brighten the face without overpowering one's features.  The formula leaves skin dewy but also remarkably stays in place for hours without pooling or creasing...Kirsten Kjaer Weis most certainly knew what she was doing when she created her eponymous line.

Ingredients: caprylic/capric triglyceride, mica, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond oil), ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, zea may (corn) starch, cera alba (beeswax), copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, rosa rubiginosa (rosehip) seed oil, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, ammonium glycyrrhizate, (non-gmo) tocopheryl acetate,
vanilla planifolia (vanilla) fruit extract.

Above: The 24K Sally Hershberger Supreme Stylist Voluminous Dry Shampoo
Onto the second day hair solution...the *24K Sally Hershberger Supreme Stylist Voluminous Dry Shampoo is all sorts of incredible.  Although I concede that dry shampoo allows me to extend the length of a hairwash, one of my least favorite things about dry shampoo in general is the powdery finish and lemony scent.  Enter 24K...this aerosol is nearly invisible and, when sprayed at the roots, creates the most magnificent volume, ultimately making my second-day hair look and feel fluffy, bouncy and fresh. In some ways, the decidedly non-lemony scent reminds me of my beloved Oribe Gold Lust's intoxicatingly sophisticated.  Talk about a brilliant time saver!
