By Terry Spring 2015 Extravaganza: CC Cream, Nude Lips and LE Blush Glace Closeups!

Above: Behold, the highly covetable By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream.
Last month, I shared the early details regarding the By Terry Spring 2015 Collection.  I am happy to report that the products are now readily available at Space.NKBarney’s New York and Beautylish.  Without any further ado, let’s delve into the finer points of the CC Cream, the LE Cellularose Blush Glace in Ice Dream and the Hyaluronic Sheer Nude Lip Color.

Kindly scroll on for more details, full spectrum swatches and images of the new By Terry releases in action as well as the Bottom Line…
Above: The By Terry CC Cream comes in an 1.41 ounce airtight tube with a pump dispenser.
I must preface the discussion that follows with this edict: don’t let the “CC Cream” moniker of this base product mislead you!  The By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream (available at Space.NK and Beautylish) is exquisite…as skincare, as a tinted moisturizer and as a foundation.
The coverage is entirely build able…one small pump will create light coverage but an additional pump, added over areas requiring more refinement (in my case, my inner cheeks, nose and forehead) creates a medium coverage effect that instantly blurs imperfections and evens skin tone.  Despite the CC Cream distinction (which generally screams an ultra-light tint), I am confident that nearly full coverage could be achieved with a proper round of blending.  I like applying with my fingers (for a light-medium effect) or with a dampened Beauty Blender (for a medium-full outcome).
The delightful rose scent (akin to that of the Cellularose CC Lumi Serum) instantly lifts the spirit and, while my sensitive skin is generally adverse to fragranced base products, I have a special place of tolorance in my heart for the signature By Terry rose aroma.
In terms of finish, I find that this CC Cream offers a natural skin result; skin feels hydrated and balanced and looks radiant (but not glowy).  It is definitely less matte than By Terry Cover Expert  and offers more coverage than the Sheer Expert.  If healthy looking skin could be bottled and dispensed with a pump, it just might be the By Terry CC.
Outside of the aesthetically stunning effect on the skin, I am perhaps most surprised with the lasting power of the formula.  I can apply this at 7 in the morning and find that I don’t need to touch up for at least 5 hours; even then, a touch of powder along my T zone is all that is necessary to restore my skin to its best version of itself.  Also, because SPF is not a part of the ingredients list, there is no flashback in photographs…brilliant!
In sum, the By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream is excellent for those seeking:
  • Customizable light to medium (and even full) coverage
  • A natural skin finish
  • Skincare benefits (can’t wait to use this long enough to be able to note these more clearly)
  • Foundation longevity
  • A luxurious base experience
Above: I love the pump dispenser…it allows for maximum control and minimum waste.
Official details from the “back matter” of the packaging:

Pure botanical technology and color control concentrate, this CC Cream gathers together in itself all the skincare and makeup actions in a single gesture:

-An intense hydration thanks to the Centifolia Roses Native Cells
-A deep glow provided by the Alba Roses Native Cells
-A youth protection released by anti-oxidant Vitamin E
-An absolute comfort via nutri-moistening factors

Its non-oily texture, subtly tinted, blurs imperfections and ideally adapts to each and every complexion.  Instantaneously, the skin is unified, protected, luminous, smoothed and plumped.

Above: Current foundation rotation (from L-R)…By Terry CC Cream in Beige, Eve Lom Radiant Glow Cream Founadation in Linen, Dior Nude Air in 021 Linen and Zelens Age Control Foundation in Beige.
I decided to swatch the new By Terry CC Cream in #03 Beige alongside some other current favorite foundation formulas in the NC 25-27 range:
  • Eve Lom Radiant Glow Cream Foundation in Linen (previewed HERE and also available at Neiman Marcus): Linen is definitely the lightest of the shades swatched below but it somehow works with my complexion.  This cream formula is “thinner” than the By Terry CC and, while they both create a natural skin finish, it seems to get a bit glowier sooner over the course of wear.  I will be reviewing this more closely in the coming days!
  • Dior Nude Air in 021 Linen (reviewed HERE and also available at Neiman Marcus and Sephora): Clearly the most “yellow” in the lineup, this foundation is also the most matte of the formulas below.  As mentioned in my review, I love how this foundation looks on the skin, but
  • Zelens Age Control Foundation in Beige (reviewed HERE): Perhaps most on par, shade wise, with the By Terry Beige, the Zelens Beige shares the same depth (though it is a bit more neutral  in undertone that the slightly golden By Terry Beige).  The Zelens Age Control has instant medium-full to full coverage whereas the By Terry CC is, as aforementioned, more customizable from a coverage perspective.
Above: Comparison swatches of foundation in the NC 25 range.
Above: All four shades in natural sunlight.
The Cellularose CC Cream comes in four self-adjusting shades:
  • 1 Nude: A neutral fair beige for @N/NC/NW 10-15 skin tones…this leans slightly neutral to yellow but will work for all undertones as indicated.
  • 2 Natural: A light beige for @ N/NC/NW 20-23 skin tones…this leans slightly neutral to rosy but will work for all undertones as indicated.
  • 3 Beige: Light-medium beige for @ N/NC/NW 25-30 skin tones…this leans slightly warm but will work for all undertones as indicated.  **My perfect match…please note, there is a big leap from #3 to #4.
  • 4 Tan: Medium-dark beige for @N/NC/NW 35-45…this leans quite warm but should work for rich skin tones in this range.

Above: The By Terry Cellularose Blush Glace All Over Edition in Ice Dream.
In terms of cheek product, the Cellularose Blush Glace All Over Edition in Ice Dream (available at Space.NK and Beautylish).  I have already reviewed the gorgeous Blush Glace formula HERE and am happy to report that this latest shade does not disappoint.  In fact, the soft rose gold tone is even more versatile than its traditional blush shade predecessors.  The gleam is very restrained, imparting a lush radiance that will compliment the natural beauty of the wearer.  Depending on skin tone, this can be:
  • Worn along the cheek bones as a light bronzer (for fair skin)
  • Worn along the upper cheek bones and down the bridge of the nose (for light-medium-dark skin)
  • Worn on the apples of the cheeks for a tender rose gold flush (for all skin tones)
I love wearing it as a bronzer/blush (as demonstrated in the images at the end of this post) and use a fluffy blush brush to blend it into the skin…I am told this shade is limited edition and implore you to consider investing in it if you have a penchant for subtly bronzed skin as I do!
Official details from the “back matter” of the packaging:

This “allover” healthy looking skincare blush, refreshes the skin tone with a “multi-dimensional touch” infusing universal “frosted-aquarelle” for a long lasting glow. The combination of a “marshmallow” water-balm texture and a moisturizing, smoothing, protective formula, soaked with White Roses Native Cells, Vitamin E and Rosa Damascena Floral Water, diffuses unique properties into the skin for a redefined and glowing reliefs.

Above: By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Nude Lip Color in #2 Innocent Kiss.
Onto the lip color…the Hyaluronic Sheer Nude Lip Color (available at Space.NK and Beautylish) comes in five shades.  This ultra-hydrating formula (previously swatched and reviewed HERE and HERE) gets a nude update with this latest collection.  With the slip, glide and moisture of a balm and the color-drenched impact of a lipstick, this formula is divine.
Above: All five shades of the By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Nude Lip Color.
The five shades are as follows:
  • 1 Bare Balm: A delicate, iridescent baby pink for a whisper of color
  • 2 Innocent Kiss: A glowing, light peachy pink (my favorite, hands down!).  Incidentally, and, much to my intense delight, this shade reminds me of a deeply-loved and long-discontinued Armani gloss of my college years.
  • 3 Nude Pulp: A mid-toned pinky beige with a touch of pearl
  • 4 Sheer Glow: A warm, deeper peach with minimal shimmer and maximum shine
  • 5 Flush Contour: A rich wine-meets-brown for a modern take on the classic vampy lip
Above: I selected Innocent Kiss, a stunning peachy pink with a radiant glow.
Above: The weighty silver case is slim and sophisticated.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this massive By Terry Spring 2015 post…as one might be able to ascertain from the multitude of images, I am utterly smitten with this particular collection of new releases as they perfectly lend themselves to my favorite beauty aesthetic: an even, glowing canvas, softly bronzed cheeks and a peachy pink nude lip.  Magnifique, indeed!

The CC cream looks amazing on you. Will have to get a sample to try when it arrives in Australia, which will usually be at around 3 months after the rest of the world if we are lucky gggrrrrr 🙁

Thanks for the review,! I have the sheer expert in 4. I love it but find it a touch too warm/dark on me. I am looking for more coverage, would you suggest this or cover expert? And which colors

My pleasure! If you want just a bit more coverage than Sheer Expert, then the CC Cream is a marvelous option but if you want medium-full coverage in a single layer, then Cover Expert is the way to go!

I really want to try this, but worried that I fall between Nude and Natural. Natural looks like close to the right depth, but I don't have a hint of pink on me (very yellow undertoned). My best foundation match is Guerlain Lingerie de Peau in Beige Pale (but is slightly too pale). Since this is sheer, do you think the Nude will warm up/go a tad deeper once blended? The Natural looks waaaaaaaaay to pink for me. Thanks!

      Hello Anon,

Thanks for the question. If Natural looks like the right depth, then I would suggest going with that shade. It truly isn't too rosy (at least for me) and I have yellow undertones; it matches my skin (at @NC 23) well when I am not as tan!

Nude is very light…lighter than the depth of Natural so I'd be afraid it would be too pale for you.

Please note, however, that is just my opinion of course!

      Hope that helps…xx,

Thank you so much for answering. I actually went with Nude and it's really close to perfect! I think it's because it's so sheer, that it blends well. I'm an NC15, so I'm often falling between two shades. And generally, with medium – full coverage foundation, I'll go darker since going lighter makes me look pallid. But this is only slightly lighter, and since it's sheer, I can warm it a bit with a hint of bronzing powder. The yellow tone of the Nude is perfect because I am VERY yellow.

I think the lightness is as light as the Beige Pale of Guerlain Lingerie de Peau, but because of the yellow undertone + sheerness, it seems to work well (not as light as GLP's Amber Pale, but as yellow). I feel like the swatch of Natural looks like GLP's Beige Clair, which while looking neutral on others, comes off as really pink on me.

I've added the above for others who may stumble across this post and seek color advice. There are still very few reviews of this out there.

Thanks again! (from another professor, actually 🙂
      Cheers!

Hi, I cannot decide between By Terry Sheer Expert and this CC cream. From your reviews, it seems that Sheer Expert lasts longer and offer less coverage?

Will love getting your help to decide between these two! Thank you 🙂

Hello! I prefer the CC Cream to the Sheer Expert…better coverage, good lasting power and skincare benefits. If you can find a match, it's fantastic!

      I hope that helps…xx,
