Chantecaille Lips...Springtime Pinks That Are Always in Season

Above: Chantecaille pinks...Lip Chics in Primrose and Wildrose and Brilliant Gloss in Pretty.
I never need an excuse to embrace the lovely Chantecaille line or wear pink lips...both are favorites in my beauty routine.  That being said, I was excited to try three distinctly rosy Chantecaille lip products, utterly apropos for the warmer months to come.

Above: Chantecaille Brilliant gloss in Pretty.
First up, the Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Pretty...this hydrating  jelly pink with micro-shimmer makes the lips look juicy and full.  I love the non-sticky texture and lasting power as well; pigmented enough to be worn on its own, it is still delightfully less bright than it appears in the tube.

Above: Brilliant gloss has a brush applicator.
The official details according to Nordstrom:

Brilliant Gloss is a non-sticky lip gloss with vegetal-based cross-linked sugars that naturally and safely plump lips. An innovative system of elastic polymers and shiny emollient oil creates long-lasting wear. Enhanced with green tea to protect and calm lips.

Above: Swatches of all three shades in this post.

Above: Pretty is delicate but not too pale.

Above (L-R): Chantecaille Lip Chic in Primrose and Wild rose.

Next is the gorgeous Lip Chic formula in Primrose and Wild Rose.  This innovative lip color-meets-gloss hybrid is highly moisturizing and deposits rich, sheer color while maintaining a semi-glossy finish.  I find that I get 3-4 hours of very comfortable wear before feeling the need to touch up.  It is scent-free, friendly to sensitive lips and entirely sophisticated.

The official details according to Nordstrom:

Lip Chic is a revolutionary hybrid that combines the rich, even coverage of a lipstick with the high-shine and plumping effects of a gloss. It goes on with an incredibly soft, lightweight texture as it helps to smooth and firm the lips. Added collagen gives lips a boost, leaving them fuller and decidedly more youthful in appearance, while never irritating.

Above: A swatch of Primrose in direct sunlight.

Primrose is a beautiful glowing baby pink; its light yet pigmented and looks amazing on its own, especially with a subtle, smoky eye.  Because it has a cool-toned depth, even those who may be "pale pink phobic" will surely find contentment with this delicate shade.

Above: Primose is a subtle and glowing pink.
Above: I love this shade.

Wild Rose is Primrose's sassy older sister.  This vibrant bright rose coats lips in a lovely veil of flushed color that, albeit bolder, is completely wearable. Although I generally tend to shy away from from deeper lip color, I am comfortable embracing this particular shade when I am feeing a bit adventurous!

In sum, these radiance-drenched pinks from Chantecaille should not be missed.  While all in the same color family, the swatch above demonstrates how the variance in undertones makes these three undoubtedly distinct.  With springtime in our midst, shades like these compel our lips to be in full bloom!

Above: Last look...Chantecaille Wild Rose.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this festival of pink lip color from Chantecaille...I had a brilliant time showcasing these superb rosy hues, otherwise known as Pretty, Primrose and Wild Rose, and hope your springtime lip wardrobe is inspired by these shades.

Eve Lom Perfected Tinted Moisturizer

Above: All twelve shades in their respective sample pots.
After experimenting with the newly released Eve Lom Radiance Lift Foundation for the past couple of weeks, I was inspired to swatch all shades of the Eve Lom Perfected Tinted Moisturizer as well.  In the spirit of full disclosure, I am not usually a tinted moisturizer girl, but the foundation is incredible and the TM is getting a ton of buzz.  In turn, I thought it might be helpful to share swatches for those interested in ordering this formula online.  Please note that while there is some overlap in shades between the foundation and tinted moisturizer formulas, some do not correspond directly; consequently, my shade personal descriptions reflect these differences.

Here's what Barney's NY has to say about the formula:

DISCOVER EVERYDAY HEALTHY RADIANCE, WITH THE DEEP-DOWN HYDRATION
AND TINTED COVERAGE OF THIS RICH, SILKY FORMULA.

Providing a soft, ‘no makeup’ finish, it blends easily while brightening actives help reduce the appearance of pigment spots. All the time you’re wearing it, powerful fruit stem cell extracts and sodium hyaluronate deliver a steady stream of intense moisture to the skin’s lower layers, while vitamins C and E protect and nourish, and SPF15 guards against harmful UV. The skin’s natural elasticity and suppleness are restored, for immediate luminosity, and a long-term smoother complexion.

Benefits:

  • Hydrated, tinted coverage, for makeup-free radiance
  • Pigment spots are lightened and reduced
  • Skin is intensely hydrated, nourished and repaired for youthful elasticity
  • Luxurious, silky formula blends evenly and easily
  • UVA/UVB and antioxidant protection
  • Actively beneficial for all skin types.

Kindly scroll on for shade descriptions and swatches of all twelve shades in various lighting situations as well as the Bottom Line...

Bottom Line: Although I haven't official experimented with the Eve Lom Perfected Tinted Moisturizer as of yet, I do plan on accessing my sample pot of Vanilla to give it a proper trial and will weigh back in with my experience in the near future.  In the meanwhile, I hope these swatches have been helpful.  Have YOU tried the Eve Lom Perfected Tinted Moisturizer?  Please share your thoughts!

Hask Keratin Protein and Argan Oil Haircare...Smooth and Silky Results

Above: A cornucopia of new Hask products.
In high school and college, I fondly remember using Hask shine spray to help detangle and add a glistening glow to my long hair.  Years (and likely 100 haircare variations) later, I was reintroduced to the brand and had the opportunity to try some products from its Keratin Protein and Argan Oil lines.

Above: The Keratin Protein and Argan Oil formulas target specific hair needs including hydration,
Above: My hair is so soft after using the Smoothing Shampoo!
Since the length of my hair causes it to be prone to tangling, I was immediately intrigued by the Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner.  Infused with Keratin to hydrate and calm stressed locks, this sulfate and paraben-free formula creates a rich lather and thoroughly cleanses my hair, leaving it straight, silky and easy to comb out, even when wet.

Above: Excellent ingredients and powerful results, a perfect pairing.
The scent of the shampoo and conditioner is subtly delightful...a touch fruity yet nothing over bearing; I love how nourished and balanced my hair feels after a round with these two haircare gems!

Above: Extra reinforcements for the smoothest hair in town.
When I am in the mood for extra hydration, I use a teaspoon of the Hask Smoothing Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment in the shower followed by a couple of drops of the Healing Shine Hair Treatment directly following a gentle towel drying session.  The duo guarantees that my hair will be soft, full and smooth without being the slightest bit weighed down.

Below: Images of my hair after a week of the Hask Keratin Protein Collection...
Above: Movement!
Above: Body.
Above: Fullness.
Above: My hair is nourished and manageable...I braided it easily without the use of a hairbrush.
Above: Straight!
Above: Silky and sleek.
Bottom Line: The Hask Keratin Protein and Argan Oil haircare formulas are simply pulchritudinous.  I especially love the Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner for their ability to make my hair just that: completely smooth but still full of body and movement.  It is the best of both worlds and I am glad that Hask is still as good as I remember.

Have YOU tried any haircare products from Hask?  Thoughts?!

Hope your Saturday is going well!

11 Eclectic Essentials for the Carryon Traveler

Above: The wing of the plane from my window!
This week, I traveled to Florida with my husband; since were were only going to be gone for five days, I committed to a challenge that, up to this point in my adult life, I have never accomplished...bringing only carryon luggage.  Naturally, the first fear I had involved how I would be able to condense my skincare and beauty products (let's save that for another post!) into such confines.  A new time zone, different climate and a wealth of business events...is it even possible to pare my arsenal down to the bare minimum?  Fortunately, I am in possession of some incredible multi-tasking products...from the most luxurious splurge to the extremely affordable, this 12-item eclectic collection travels well and works even better!

Kindly scroll on for details, images and the Bottom Line...

Above: The Chantecaille Gold Energizing Recovery Mask comes in individually sealed single-use packets.
1. Chantecaille Gold Energizing Recovery Mask: After getting but three hours of sleep the night before embarking on my journey (packing effectively, I'm afraid, takes me an inordinate amount of time), I awoke at 5:30 AM to itchy, tired, horridly puffy eyes and promptly shuffled to the refrigerator (I can thank Chantecaille Regional Artist, Greg Velasquez for this tip) to procure one of these eye masks.  Drenched in active botanicals, these gel strips quickly adhere to the orbital region to tend to eyes in distress.  20 minutes later, my eyes looked human.  Since each slim, disposable set is individually packaged, I slipped a couple more in my bag for reinforcement.

Above: 10 oils + 10 uses = amazing.
2. Jack Black EpicMoisture MP10 Nourishing Oil: A single one ounce bottle of this clear elixir has a multitudinous set of purposes.  Suitable for both men and women (this is one product my husband and I can share!), this ultra-light, Paraben-free, vegan formula contains Argan oil, Organic Moringa Seed oil, Organic Marula Seed Oil, Plum Seed Oil, Watermelon Seed Oil, Organic Baobab Seed Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil and Rice Bran Oil to moisturize, sooth irritation and increase the overall hydration of the skin.  Additionally, this wonder product:
  • Can be used as a pre and post shaving serum
  • Can be used to condition hair, tame flyaways and add immense shine
  • Can be used to groom and condition facial hair (e.g., beards etc.)
  • Can be used to restore elasticity and provide anti-aging benefits to the skin
A single product with this many benefits and purposes is a non-negotiable when faced with the need to pack lightly!

Above: Steam Cream...lovely and effective.
3. Steam Cream: I tossed the springtime edition of Steam Cream (also reviewed HERE) into my carry on without hesitation.  This vibrant, secure tin houses a lush cream formula that makes my arms and legs endlessly smooth.  It is diminutive enough to fit in the smallest bag but concentrated enough to take care of your body's hydration needs for days!

Above: This Air Repair kit is your carryon's best friend!
4. Air Repair Travel Kit: All five components of this magnificent, carry-on-friendly set (also mentioned HERE) are designed to keep skin hydrated and balanced over the course of air travel, which, of course, is infamous for being as arid as a desert.  It includes an eye cream, cleansing milk, facial mist, moisturizer, and all-purpose skin salve for a visage that is impervious to the stressful and drying environment of the airplane cabin.

Above: One spritz and I feel alive again.
I especially like the Complexion Quenching Facial Mist which provides me with an immediate refreshing sensation when spritzed on the skin.  It is light, invigorating and keeps my face hydrated without disrupting my makeup.  I'll be hosting an Air Repair giveaway in early April so keep your eyes peeled!

Above: Tanee...sunless tanner and a tinted bronze wash of color in a single pen.
5. The Tanee Tan Line Corrector: This all-natural product is relatively new to me but I figured its pen-like size was perfect to bring along, just in case I need to combat some unwanted tan lines from the intense Florida sun.

Above: The felt-tip applicator of the Tanee.
I experimented with it before leaving and can attest to the fact that it words like a tinted-sunless tanning formula...one sweep of the felt tip and the tan line is diminished by a sheer bronze tint.  Over the next couple of hours, the sunless tanner develops, furthering the camouflage effect.  I'll never be without this on subsequent tropical vacations...it's a tiny must!

Above: Tangle Teezer...where have you been all my life.
6. The Tangle Teezer: I have extremely long, thick hair that tangles easily (generally due to my purse straps and overall lack of interest in brushing it).  In turn, I lament about my tangles constantly.  When I encountered the Tangle Teezer last week, I was intrigued by its claims of eradicating tangles painlessly.   $16 later, the Tangle Teezer became mine.  Imagine my sheer delight when I discovered that the Tangle Teezer truly lives up to its claims.  The light, flexible bristles glide through my hair with ease (even when its wet!) and add layer upon layer of smoothness until every last section is detangled.

Above: The bristles are deceptively effective.
This brush is essential for anyone who detests tangles and the fact that it is lightweight and palm-sized makes it a perfect travel companion as well.  I'll try to do a video with this brush soon!

Above: Dr. Sponge...all natural skincare for cleansing.
7. Dr. Sponge Original: Since I had so little space in my bag, I resigned myself to the fact that I couldn't bring my Clarisonic. In turn, this trip has been a key time to try out a new product, the Dr. Sponge Original.  Made of Konjac, this sponge cleanses and gently exfoliates with and without soap.

Above: My Dr. Sponge Original before getting wet...once drenched in water, it becomes much softer and more plump in nature.
The brittle exterior softens and expands once it absorbs water and my skin is left clean and balanced.  I am completely impressed by this natural wonder and am glad that it makes such a fantastic (and compact!) travel companion.

Above: Swipe...deodorant on the go.
8. Swipe Single Use Deodorant Wipes: These towelettes are invaluable when in the midst of travel and the fact that they are no larger than a matchbook allows me to toss a few into my bag with ease. For moments when your deodorant might of lost its efficacy, tea tree extract infused Swipes provide long lasting protection against perspiration and odor.

Above: The gorgeous Jenny Patinkin All-Over Face Brush.
9. The Jenny Patinkin Lazy Perfection Brushes: At home, I love having all of my favorite makeup brushes at my disposal.  This luxury, however, is not as realistic when traveling.  In turn, I decided to bring two (not 20!) of the most versatile brushes in my collection.  The extremely well-crafted Jenny Patikin All-Over Face Brush is brilliant for applying foundation, bronzer, blush, powder and contour.  The bristles are ridiculously soft, yet strong enough to apply product in an expert manner.

Above: This brush is your concealer's perfect companion.
I've mentioned the beauty that is the Domed-Multi Blender Brush in a recent video.  This dense bristles work so very well with cream and powder concealers, allowing the product to blend seamlessly with your skin.  I cannot be without it!

Above: A swatch of the Eve Lom Rescue mask on my wrist.
10. Eve Lom Rescue Mask: Whenever my skin feels stressed (which invariably happens with traveling), this Rescue Mask works miracles.  The white clay has a slight tingling effect that is simultaneously relaxing and refreshing and one 15-minute session and my skin is calmer, clearer and more balanced.  The tube is conducive to travel and formula works on all skin types, including my excessively sensitive visage!

11. Sulwhasoo Snowise Ex Brightening Mask: This product is my first foray into the ever popular sheet masks genre and I must say, I am impressed.  Individually-packaged in streamlined envelopes, the patented mask is created from plant pulp and is fermented in white ginseng for 2 weeks.  I adore using this before an evening out to freshen up and restore life to my face after a long day of meetings or sightseeing in the elements.

Above: The mask in action.
It may look a bit troubling but I daresay, this Snowise Mask is relaxing and entirely efficacious in creating smoother, more hydrated and brighter skin in a flash!
Above: Touchdown...Florida.
Above: Two flights, one layover and eleven hours later, fresh off of the plane and ready to head to our hotel.
Bottom Line: Packing lightly for a trip can be a trepidatious endeavor, especially for a chronic overpacker like me.  I hope you enjoyed this product rundown and would love to hear about your travel favorites!

Have YOU tried any of these carryon-friendly items?

xoxo and have a beautiful weekend,
