Hourglass Cosmetics Abbot Kinney Flagship Store Launch…Recap of the Brilliance

Above: Hourglass Flagship Store + Venice Beach Night Sky.

Last Thursday 9/18/14, we were invited to attend the launch of the Hourglass flagship store, perfectly positioned on iconic Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice Beach, CA.  I have long praised the exquisite Hourglass line…from the Ambient Lighting Powder Palette and Immaculate Liquid Powder Founadtion to the 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eyeliner and Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss (for the  quintessential nude lip), Hourglass is the marriage of form and function with some of the most advanced ingredients on the market!  The flagship store is all one would expect from Hourglass…clean, classic and aesthetically stunning, the fluid lines and timeless design perfectly resonate with the beauty of the Hourglass products themselves.

Kindly scroll on for images from the evening, a rundown of my Hourglass favorites as well as the Bottom Line…

Hourglass is one of my favorite lines for sure, and I use something from them every day. I tried them when they were brand new at Bergdorfs and instantly fell in love! Most of your favorites are also mine 🙂 The Ambient Lighting powders and blushes are incredible. I have both of the permanent blushes in the palette and can assure anyone contemplating whether to get it that they are definitely worth it. The lip products are also great, especially love the Extreme Sheen glosses, Icon lip creme, and the lip oil is my favorite lip treatment. The mineral veil primer is my favorite primer when I'm specifically not going for a glowy look (otherwise I use Peau Vierge to prime). Oh! And I love the brow pencil too. See?! I really am a big fan 🙂

      Hi Summer,

Glad to hear it! I love that the Hourglass products are a part of your daily rotation and I agree…there is always a bit of Hourglass in my purse or bag (which is definitely saying something in light of the sheer volume of products I try!). Thank you for sharing your favorites!!

      xoxo and talk soon,

The Veil primer is one of the few that doesn't trigger my sensitive skin to go crazy. The other Hourglass item I love are their beautiful eyeshadow duos. I do use their Ambient Lighting Blush as well. Looking forward to your review of the Hyaluronic Skin Tint!

I am new to your blog and loving all of your amazing reviews. I am a relatively new to Hourglass but a big fan so far! I am wondering what the deal is with their eye shadows. I heard they were great but they don't seem to be in existence anymore. Are they doing away completely or do you have any info on that? I would really appreciate it-TIA!

      Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your comment and welcome to Beauty Professor! I just confirmed that the current eyeshadow duos are being discontinued and replaced with something bigger and better by January. I should find out more in the coming months but that is the word, thus far ; )

I know I am grasping here, but…do you happen to know what Carisa has on her lips? Hourglass is one of my favorite brands too. Looks like a fun evening, thanks for sharing.

Lucky Ducky! Looks like a fun party. I love Hourglass. I recently picked up the skinny eyeliner, 1.5 MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner, and am enjoying playing with it. It does stay on my waterline, but not on my lid, yet. 🙂
Did you bring home the skincare serum?

      Hello Petunia!

It was a fun party, indeed…isn't the 1.5MM eye liner incredible?! I haven't found something that works on my waterline as effectively as this one ; )

I haven't tried the skincare serum yet but hope to soon!

Hello Beauty Professor! Thank you so much for this lovely post! The photos were sublime! Just wondering if you or any of your readers would have an idea of the shade of red "lippy" that is worn by so many of the hourglass ladies in the photos. You know…all of my life I was a nude pink/nude peach type of girl, but turned 50 this year and am all about the bright lips (partially because I am trying to teach my daughters that makeup is fun and can change from day to day)! Any insights would be most appreciated. My best, Jacqueline McDonnell

Hi Jacqueline, I'm just guessing but I would say it is one of their "Icon" products. They have that shade in the liquid lipstick, lipstick and lip gloss.

      Hello Jacqueline!

My pleasure…thank you for reading. I am so glad you enjoyed kit! I will definitely try to find out about the omnipresent red and post my findings here ; ) I agree with Jo, it is likely one of the Icon products (all red-based) but I will do my best to confirm!

Great post, great products and your skin looks amazing. Was wondering what products you used. Also, I'm bummed that I'm still waiting for my C.T foundation. I received partial order. First it said delayed, was to arrive 9/19. When it didn't I called. They said 9/24. It didn't. 🙁 Now it says 10/5. I know the rep said they didn't anticipate how fast everything wld go. Wondering if I should cancel and try elsewhere and if u received yours yet. Thanks so much B.P. Have a great week.

Thanks, Lynn…I am wearing a TF Traceless Perfecting + Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow + a smidge of Kanebo Sensai foundation combination and find that the products work really well together. I, too, am still waiting for the CT foundation…so frustrating!!! I am just going to wait it out since I am juggling with testing a few formulas right now ; )

      Have a lovely weekend…xx,
