Video Overview: Seven Summer Foundations…from Drugstore to Luxury

Above: My summer foundation line up…light texture, SPF and a lasting finish embodied!

Now that summer has arrived, many of us are transitioning to lighter foundation formulas that better withstand heat and offer SPF protection.  Here are my recommendations for every price point, from drugstore to luxury.

Kindly scroll on for the video, product details and swatches of each formula as well as the Bottom Line…

Products Mentioned:
(1) RoC Multi Correxion 5 in 1 Perfecting Cream…sheerly tinted with a concoction of ingredients that evens skin tone, refines pores and adds a radiant glow, this one step formula can be used as a primer (for days that require more coverage) or sole base (when skin is on its best behavior!).  Available at Ulta and Dermstore and previously reviewed HERE.

(2) Ardency Inn Americana Custom Coverage Concentrate…concealer, foundation and tinted moisturizer in a single airtight bottle, this formula can be tailored to one’s skin needs, thereby epitomizing the concept of customization.  Light-Medium Olive is a perfect match for my NC 25-27 skin.  Available at Sephora and previously reviewed HERE.

(3) Jouer Luminzing Moisture Tint in Golden and Matte Moisture Tint in Nude…I love the weightless texture of these perfecting formulas…the luminizing version offers glowy, light coverage and the matte formula delivers medium coverage that looks healthy and natural.  I prefer mixing the two for a quintessential skin finish and both Golden and Nude are excellent matches for NC 23-27 skin tones.
Fully reviewed HERE.

(4) Napoleon AutoPilot Beauty Boosting Balm Light/Medium…at first glance, this BB cream seems nearly invisible, but, upon application, it dramatically perfects the canvas, leading to even, glowy results.  The SFP 30 is formidable sun protection and the lasting finish is great for long days outdoors.  Available at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus and previously reviewed HERE.

(5) Guerlain Terracotta Joli Tint Foundation in Natural…this buildable, long-lasting foundation with medium coverage offers a warm leaning that implies a light tan that looks incredibly natural.  Shade Natural is perfect for NC 25-30 skin tones. Available at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

(6) La Prairie Anti-Aging Hydra Tint SPF 20…luxe and weightless, this SPF 20, portable wonder yields a gorgeous, subtle tint (buildable to medium coverage) and delivers significant skincare benefits over the course of wear.  Shade #2 is spot on for NC 25 skin tones…comprehensive review soon! Available at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

(7) Omorovicza BB Complexion Perfector Medium…This BB formula offers stunning medium to medium-full, lasting coverage and a cushiony application that melds into the skin, effortlessly matching NC 23-30 skin tones.  My skin always feels improved after a day of Omorovicza!  Available at Neiman Marcus.  Reviewed HERE and HERE

Above: All shades appropriate for NC 23-30 skin tones.

Bottom Line: Adjusting one’s foundation formula to be conducive to the season is often a process of trial and error…my goal was to offer you, my dear readers and subscribers, some marvelous starting points that have already been personally vetted for efficacy!

I truly hope you enjoyed this video and welcome your questions and comments…what are some of YOUR favorite foundation formulas for summer?

xx and much more soon!

Me, personally, I'm loving the Guerlain joli teint 🙂 These shades work so much better on my skintones that the usual roundup. Typically I fall in between two shades with the undertones pulling very beige which strangely does not seem to work so well with my neutral skin. With the joli teint product, I am able to wear both Clair and Natural. Clair is very close to my NC20ish skin, perhaps a touch darker as it oxidizes a bit. Natural is fab for giving me a faux tan without pulling too yellow or orange. I love the tube format for travel.

Great roundup here and maybe a few more to add to the collection 😉

      Hi Wendy!

Glad to know you're loving the Joli Teint…it is surprisingly good and how wonderful that you have two befitting shade options! I am impressed with the coverage and lasting power…so good and not even touted as such!

xx and have a lovely week,

Hi BP! Your eye makeup looks REALLY nice in this vid. The colors you chose are very flattering on you.
Love the recommendations! Curious to try the La Prarie – I've been looking for something in a tube that I can throw in my bag. I also use the Omorovicza and have been very happy with it. Another option I really really like in summer is the 3Lab BB. It is AMAZING. It looks so skinlike and has very nice coverage (especially for a BB, much fuller than you would expect) while still being lightweight on the skin. One caution, it goes with a touch of a gray-ish cast. But let it sit on the skin for 3-5 minutes and then it loses the cast and matches perfectly.
I've also been using the just released Serge Lutens Tinted Moisturizer compact and it is gorgeous. It looks amazing just applied. I need to do some more testing because I haven't had a chance to measure wearability yet. It creates a smoothness that is almost surprising to behold.
    Thanks for the video!

      Hello dear SJ!

Thank you so much…more of the Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope on the eyes ; ) The La Prairie Hydra Tint is superb…light and comfortable but still possessing coverage and lasting power. It's portability is another asset, indeed. I am definitely keeping it in my bag when traveling to FL later on this week!

I have tried the 3Lab BB…I love the coverage and finish, but it never quite "dried down" for me, which was a little uncomfortable, especially in heat. I am so glad you are loving it, though!

Ahh…the new Serge Lutens foundation compact…I really need to try it. How is the coverage? Truly, this will likely be my next buy!

      xoxo and talk soon,

SL compact coverage is very sheer. I've been using it on top of a tinted moisturizer or BB. But you could certainly wear it alone on a good skin day. The finish on this is ridiculously beautiful. Still not sure about lasting power though – I've been wearing this on quick bouts out only so far because of my schedule. The SA recommended a light dusting of their powder foundation on top for more coverage. They applied that in store and it looked great but I couldn't bring myself to buy both products. :o)

Thanks for the description, SJ! I am totally intrigued but agree that the foundation + the powder is an insane investment. Perhaps a splurge will be necessary this summer ; )

I hope your week is going well…xx and talk soon!

    Hi dear B.P
What a lovely round up of products in this video.
It has given me some ideas for when summer rolls around again.
I really loved the Napoleon BBB cream and I think I need to pick this up again.
I also will be trying the Jouer Matte moisture tint this summer to.
I have been using the Jouer skin perfector which I really like, but I am suffering from terribly dehydrated skin this winter and nothing seems to be comfortable on my skin after a couple of hours then it feels tight and uncomfortable. Any suggestions for a suitable foundation would be fantastic
Love the eyeshadow combo you are wearing to, really suits you.

I hope everything is well with you.

    Take care and talk soon

Great picks! Now I do not have to worry of what brands of foundation are the best during Summer. I think I'll go for the La Prairie Hydra Tint. It seems like a great one to try out.
