Troy Surratt Beauty + Barney’s Beauty Event = The Most Marvelous of Saturdays

Above: A dreamy display of Surratt Beauty…specifically the Artistique Blushes + Eyeshadows and Lip Lustres.
Earlier this month, Barney’s New York at the Grove in LA hosted a Beauty Event featuring a personal appearance by Troy Surratt, genius creator of the eponymous line, Surratt Beauty.  I have raved about this line many times over (an insane amount of swatches HERE and HERE) and was resolute about taking the opportunity to see Troy and his exquisite line again after our first in-person at The Makeup Show LA.  It was an afternoon of true beauty…fun family times, enlightening conversations and gorgeous surroundings!
Kindly scroll on for a host of images from the event as well as the Surratt Beauty products that I picked up and the Bottom Line…
Above: BP and the dashing Troy Surratt.
Above: A closeup of Troy’s chic footwear.  I simply couldn’t help myself.
Above: Troy and my mom ( and blog assistant!), Laura.
Above: Makeup Artist, Surratt Beauty Specialist and dear friend, Satya Linak
Above: Satya, BP and Troy.
Above: BP and the gracious Nathaniel Hawkins of Surratt Beauty.
Above: My husband, Tyler, and Jethro…the two are quite used to patiently waiting for me whenever makeup is involved ; )
Above: My brother, Seth, Satya and my dad, Rex.
Above: The energy of the event was just lovely…classy and sophisticated, indeed.
Above: Deep in a rousing conversation…likely about foundation or something of a similar ilk.  Being an expert in all things Japanese (which, incidentally, heavily influenced the approach and aesthetic of his line),  Troy taught me how to properly say “Suqqu” (of  Frame Fix Foundation fame)…it’s “sook,” with a hard emphasis on the ‘K.” It doesn’t have a direct English translation, rather, it is designed to imply the image of a graceful, straight line…an onomatopoeia of sorts!
Above: I also had the chance to meet the talented Celebrity Makeup Artist Sam Fine…he has such genuinely happy spirit about him.
Above: Could this be more fun?
Above: Closeups of the full Surratt Beauty line.
Above: So much to take in!
Above: Smokey Eye Batons, Lipsliques, Concealers, Brow Pencils and the magnificent Relevee Eyelash Curlers…so wondrously effective.  Troy told me that his packaging intends to reflect all of the finishes that makeup can have…from matte, to glossy to shimmery.  I think this image best reflects that vision!
Above: Artistique Eye Shadows and Lip Lustres.
Above: Some final swatching before making my decision.  Note the perfectly-placed “The Beauty Event” in the background.  Love when that happens ; )
Of course, I couldn’t go to a Surratt Beauty event without picking out some choice items to add to my ever-growing collection.  In this case, I chose the Large Palette (which houses various six shadows, four blushes, or two blushes and two shadows, which is how I planned to use it!), a new Artistique Eyeshadow in Dore and a couple of Lipsliques in Chuchoter and Fee Soie (a back up as this is my favorite shade, hands down!).
Above: A picture of my newly procured goods.
Above: Dore Eyeshadow…a rich, golden taupe.  So stunning on its own or mixed with Haute Chocolat.
Above: The contents on my newly assembled palette.
Above: In the palette (clockwise, from top L): Duchesse, Aureole, Dore and Haute Chocolat.
Above: Swatches of all four palette shades in direct sunlight.
Above: Chuchoter is a creamy lavender nude pink with no shimmer.
Above: Swatches of Chuchoter and Fee Soie (which,  in contrast, is more coral, contain shimmer and therefore is more opaque than Chuchoter) in direct sunlight.
Above: Thanks for a brilliant event, Surratt Beauty + Barney’s NY!
Bottom Line: To say that the Troy Surratt Beauty Event at Barney’s NY was divine would be an understatement!  From getting the opportunity to visit with the charming and endlessly-knowledgable Troy to commiserating with like-minded beauty enthusiasts who are equally wild about the Surratt Beauty line, I am glad I was able to attend.  If you are new to the Surratt Beauty line, I highly suggest taking a peek immediately; this Barney’s NY exclusive is one of the most exciting things to happen to niche, independent cosmetics in an extraordinarily long time!

This looks like such a fun event! I must admit while the eyeshadow palette and lipsticks looks divine, the one thing that really caught my eyes is the eyelash curler. It looks so sleek and chic!

Thanks, Shireen! It an absolutely fantastic afternoon. I cannot recommend the eyelash curler enough…I have quite a few and this is my favorite for the intense and lasting curl it creates!

Such a great post! You really conveyed the fun of the event, or how imagine the fun must have been! You have me totally addicted to Surratt now, by the way. I had picked up a few things at Barney's in Vegas last years- I think we must have missed each other by a few days. But thanks to your excellent reviews and swatches, I've since ordered a TON more. The textures of the powders is truly TDF. Thanks so much!!

      Thank you, Lisa!

I had a truly enjoyable time crafting it and very much appreciate the kind feedback. That's crazy that we missed each other at the Vegas Barney's…the day I was there, they had just put out the Surratt display and I went a little crazy for sure ; ) I am thrilled that we share a love of the line!

Don't they though, Rae? Her makeup is always impeccable! I am guessing that there is some Aureole highlighter involved but I am not sure about the cheeks…will have to ask her ; )

Good to hear from you, xoxo and hope your week is going well!

      Shoshanna!

You are too kind, my friend! Thank you ever so much. My family is such a blessing and I am always glad when we get to spend time together. Yes! You. Need. Dore. It is an "us" color for sure and so easy to work with. Today I combined it with Chanel Initiation and it was platinum-gold heaven ; )

Thanks also for your kind words about the pictures and isn't it a relief to finally know how to say "Suqqu?" I have been in the dark for months and can finally say the word without feeling completely and utterly uniformed and ridiculous!

Always a treat to hear from you…I hope all is well with you and your lovely family…xoxo and talk soon!

Hi B.P thankyou for such an amazing glimpse into this stunning beauty event. Your Mom is beautiful! I too love that your family is so involved even in your beauty adventures! I wanted to mention in my last comment that I love the video outside. Especially now that it's spring. I am dying to order some Surratt & will probably start with the illuminating powder if its not still sold out! 😉 Thanks again & I'm so happy I'm home from work catching up on all your posts! xo

But of course, Lynn! We had such a magnificent time and I was happy to document and share everything. Thanks for your kind (and true!) words about my mom…I wholeheartedly agree.

Thanks also for mentioning your appreciation for my filming setting outdoors…it was a crazy experiment but I had fun trying ; ) Ahh…you must try some Surratt…the powder is completely up your alley and everything else is just so very wearable. Let me know if you have any questions!

How is work going? Glad to hear that you had some time off…please keep in touch!

Your welcome…work is great. I love meeting new people & have the best clients. Doing hair & making people feel good is so gratifying. Also, forgot to mention I ordered the jouer liquid liner in leopard. I figure it's time to go outside the box from my usual brown to a brown with a little glitter! 🙂 You certainly know what's up my alley, lol. Luminosity, glow, ect. In a non-teenager way ofcourse!;) Xo

Glad to hear it, Lynn!! Your clients are lucky to have you ; ) Congrats on ordering the Jouer liner in Leopard…such a pretty "non-black" and the formula is extremely easy to work with. Can't wait to hear how it works out for you!

      xoxo and talk soon,
