Napoleon Perdis + Elle Event Recap!

Above: The details of event.

Last week, I had distinct opportunity to attend a master class hosted by Napoleon Perdis (who I interviewed HERE) and Elle magazine Beauty/Fitness Director Emily Dougherty.  Held at the pristine Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy in Hollywood, the evening was rife with demonstrations, fresh spring trends and mingling with fellow beauty-minded individuals.

Kindly scroll on for details and images from the event as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: The presentation screens strategically placed throughout the room guaranteed that  every audience member could view the demonstrations.
Above: The white eyeliner trend is all about brighter, larger eyes.

Trends Included:
Some tips I learned from Napoleon during the presentation included carefully lifting the eyelid when applying mascara to get right to the root, using a brown eyeliner pencil to add contour to the orbital area and adding a bright white liner to the lower waterline to dramatically open up the eye!

Above: My favorite product from the demonstrations...the Couture Contour Collection, replete with two specialized brushes and a dual sided powder compact for contour and highlighting.
Above: A glimpse of the Couture Contour Collection in action...I love how the white side of the contour compact contains absolutely no shimmer; this is both genius and unique!
Bottom Line:  Napoleon Perdis is a truly kind and generous innovator in the beauty industry.  His acumen for technique, flair for color and sincere motivation to make women look their very best are a winning trifecta, indubitably cementing his revered post in the makeup world.  Additionally, getting the chance to meet Emily Doughtery from Elle was epic; I was both floored and flattered that she is familiar with Beauty Professor!  All in all, it was an evening to remember...I have my eye on the Couture Contour Collection and can't wait to try my newly acquired techniques from the class.

    1. Agreed, Jo...thanks for sharing!! She looks incredible and I'm happy we're related ; )

It was a wonderful night and I am glad you enjoyed reading about it!

  2. Hello Beauty Professor,

I love reading your reviews as I am still searching for THE foundation of all and nude lippies!! I am looking forward to your review of the By Terry Densiliss foundation and those mystery hair care products. My hair is awful trying to let it grow :( it it won't. If you have time to reply I would like to know what you think of the Laura Mercier creme smooth foundation in comparison to the Kanebo cellular creme foundation? And WOW your skin on these photos looks absolutely UH-mazing so silky and so so beautiful can I ask what products you have used?!

Lots of love and light have a brilliant weekend

    Emma x

PS I love that your mom (who looks beautiful) gave you no refined sugar I have a 9 month baby and am gonna try to just give him the good stuff too :)

    1. Hello Emma,

Thanks for your sweet comment! I am so on the same quest when it comes to foundation and nude lippies and have come to learn that the journey is the best part ; )

In response to your question, I have used a couple of jars of the Laura Mercier Creme Smooth foundation in the past; I liked it but I find that the Kanebo Sensai Creme has much better coverage and lasting power (without getting overly glowy) so I would recommend the KS overall!!

Thanks for the compliment on my skin...I was trying out the Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Creme Foundation and I love it for a short night out (4 hours or so) but find that its lasting power is not enough for a long day of work ; ) Other than that, just a little Daniel Sandler Sculpt and Slim compact and a bit of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow (also reviewed this week!).

Have a wonderful week and talk soon...xoxo,

P.S. Thanks for your kind words about my mom...she and my dad were/are amazing parents and I think it's great that you've committed to feeding your baby in a healthy manner. It's truly the best way to go! xx

  4. Do you like tom fords shade and illuminater better than this from napoleon perdis? Im going to buy one of them.

    1. Hi Linda,

I prefer the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate for a more "classic" contour effect with cream finish; the shade option is creamy and very brown for an authentic result. The Napoleon is beautiful when I am in a hurry as the powder requires less blending! Truly, you couldn't go wrong with either will all depend on whether you want to work with cream or powder!
