IMATS Los Angeles 2014…Recap and Haul Video!

Above: IMATS Los Angeles takes place at the Pasadena Convention Center.
As mentioned in preview posts, this past weekend I had the distinct privilege of covering IMATS Los Angeles and am thrilled to be able to share a plethora of images from the show as well as a haul video covering the products I purchased while there.  IMATS is a true feast for the eyes…from specialized, niche and independent pro beauty lines (and their creators!)  to an impressive lineup of makeup demonstrations, this show is a must for beauty lovers!  Equipped with my inordinately capable Cannon Rebel SL1, I set out to document the glorious event in pictures.
Kindly scroll on for a host of images as well as my Haul Video and the Bottom Line…

Above: First stop: Face Atelier.  This Canadian brand offers gorgeous, professional-grade HD products that are also suitable for the “everyday woman” who wants to look naturally polished and beautiful.
Above: Let the swatching begin…Face Atelier lip and cheek products.
Above: Learning about the immense pigmentation and wearability of Face Atelier, courtesy of its dynamic creator, Debbie Bondar.
Above: Beauty Professor + Debbie Bondar.  I am so excited about the products I selected from this line (further discussed in my video at the end!)
Above: At every corner, special effects makeup demonstrations were taking place; in this case, makeup artist Lizzie Sharp applies final gold leaf touches to a model.
Above: I always make sure to stop by the Youngblood booth…it’s always a delight to catch up with Youngblood Master Educator Philip Luque.
Above: Halloween in January…the detail in these faces is remarkable!
Above: The Japanese luxury brush line, Hakuhodo is always crowded…likely because the brushes are divine!
Above: Brush browsing.
Above: Pristine brushes so downy white, I would be hesitant to ever use them!  I  ended up purchasing a brown squirrel hair one (discussed in the video!).
Above: The Veil Cosmetics booth features a single,  marvelously-executed product…the Veil Complexion Fix which conceals, highlights and treats the skin (more on this in my video!).
Above: Me and Veil Cosmetics creator and celebrity makeup artist, Sebastien Tardif.  He is completely charming!
Above: The Lise Watier booth at Naimie’s Beauty Center.
Above: It is always great to see familiar faces at IMATS…I loved getting the chance to catch up with the lovely Francoise SaintPierre of Lise Watier.
Above: A colorful confection from the LimeCrime booth.
Above: When it comes to beauty, anything goes at IMATS…even a fluffy pink baroque wig!
Above: I adored meeting the talented and stunning makeup artist and Surratt Beauty specialist, Satya Linak.  Our mutual love of the line was an instant connection!
Above: Retro-inspired Besame Cosmetics creator, Gabriela Hernandez…I was happy to pick up a foundation and lip color from the line (more on that in my video!)
Above: Some intense special effects makeup in action.
Above: Woodland fairy transformation.
Above: I got the chance to meet up with fellow beauty blogger and friend, the lovely Krystal of Beauty by Krystal.  So fun!

Above: New independent beauty line CAO Cosmetics.
Above: I finally met my Instagram buddy and fellow blogger, the beautiful Naomi of Love2Primp!  We’ve been meaning to meet for months…what better place for two beauty lovers to commiserate than IMATS?
Above: After a long day steeped in beauty, we had the most delicious sustenance right across the street at El Cholo.  The chicken quesadilla is the stuff that dreams are made of!
Above: Oh, and the fried ice cream…it’s on another level entirely.
Above: Thanks, IMATS, for an incredible time…see you next year!

      Hello SJ!!

Thank you ever so much! I had a great time compiling the most befitting images for this post. That is wonderful that you will be at IMATS in NY…I know you will have an incredible time. I will make the products you mentioned a priority for specific review so that those attending future IMATS (including you!) might feel informed enough to decide if they want to pick them up ; )

    Hello,

I need to ask your advice in choosing the correct shade for Serge Lutens Teint Si Fin foundation. I'm a #2 in Armani LS and Maestro. I'm fair with a neutral undertone.

      Hello M,

I would suggest Blanc or I20, depending on your desired depth!

      Hope that helps,

Thank you! But what is the difference between those two?
Also the packaging, is it a plastic compact?

I also wonder between Hakuhodo and Tom Ford brushes, which brand do you consider to be of highest quality?

      Thank you! 🙂

      My pleasure!

I have swatches of all shades of the Teint Si Fin here: http://www.beautyprofessor.net/2013/05/serge-lutens-teint-si-fin-review.html

That might help you to note the difference better…also, yes, the compact is a sleek, sturdy plastic.

In response to your other question, I don't think you can go wrong with either option…both lines are lauded for their brushes. Due to sheer variety and options alone, Hakuhodo may have the edge…they make every brush imaginable!

Oh my goodness…thanks! I am wearing a mixture of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness with a bit of our favorite Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Cream Foundation and a touch of the Surratt Diaphane powder (the radiant version) on top! The combination truly lasted the entire day ; ) I have a video on the Bye Bye Redness coming up soon!
