New for 2014: Organic + Eco-Friendy Beauty Products You Should Try Now!

Above: Thomson DiPalma...a harmonious fusion of nature and science.
It's no secret that I love beauty products.  Up until recently, however, I wasn't completely "in love" with organic and eco-friendly beauty products.  Having been blessed to be raised on extremely natural foods (e.g., no refined sugar, no white flour, no pork and no artificial sweeteners etc.), the health food store was a normal way of life.  While finding the sprouted grain bread, carob chips and every type of honey known to man was a breeze at said retailers, the beauty aisle didn't always deliver with such efficiency.  I am happy to report, however, that things have changed...lately, I have had the chance to try some exceptional natural products that boast both impressive ingredients lists and marvelous results!

Kindly scroll on for a collection of my current favorite organic and eco-friendly beauty products as well as images of the products on my hair + face and the Bottom Line...
Above: This is what purity looks like...Thompson DiPalma haircare.
The Thomson DiPalma haircare line is the culmination of celebrity hairstylist Bryan Thomson-DiPalma's quest for organically-derived, detergent free formulas that successfully address common haircare concerns including dryness and fine texture.  Trained as both a chemical expert and an herbalist, his unique background yielded his eponymous collection of cruelty-free shampoos and conditioners that effectively clean and nourish the hair without the addition of artificial fragrances, parabens, sulfates or phthlates.

Above: The Thompson-DiPalma promise.
I love using the Tangerine Shampoo as a daily is fragrant (but not overpowering!) and, when combined with warm water, it creates the most delightful lather (which is quite rare for most natural, sulfate-free formulas).  Keeping with the citrus theme, the Grapefruit Conditioner adds immense body and bounce to my hair (see images at the end of this post), leaving it soft, silky and entirely manageable.  Affordable, accessible and brimming with certified organic ingredients, the Thomson-DiPalma line is a must for those who seek a natural yet effective haircare experience!

Above: A example of the extraordinarily natural ingredients list.
Above: Two more natural beauty favorites...the Sara Happ Nude Slip gloss and RMS Buriti Bronzer.
I picked up the RMS Buriti Bronzer (also mentioned HERE) and Sara Happ Nude Slip gloss right before Christmas and have been loving the lusciously natural benefits these little gems deliver!  Known for its clean aesthetic and heavy reliance on coconut oil, the organic line RMS strikes a beautiful balance between minimalist ingredients and quality color cosmetics.

Above: The Buriti Bronzer ingredients (click on picture to enlarge).
Above: The RMS Buriti Bronzer is a true tan brown that never runs the risk of looking orange...I suspect this would compliment a spectrum of skin tones!
The Buriti Bronzer has a creamy texture that effortlessly melds into the skin to create the most natural bronze tone...neither gold nor orange, this satin-finish shade feels almost balm-like in nature, creating a hydrating wash of color that simultaneously adds depth, warmth and contour to the face.  I love using an angled face brush to sweep this along the hollows of my cheeks, down the bridge of my nose and along my jawline.  It leaves the skin looking natural (no shimmer!) and radiant while also lasting the entire day without the need for touchups.  While the thought of spreading a coconut oil-based product on one's face could seem daunting (especially for those of us with sensitive, combination skin), I am thrilled to report that this does not exacerbate oiliness nor does it lend to clogged pores.  This bronzer is a perfect foray into the entire RMS line and I love it so much, I even bought my mom her own jar ; )

For the lips, the Sara Happ The Nude Slip One Luxe Gloss is an opulent option.  This plush, ultra hydrating formula envelopes the lips in a semi-opaque wash of pale nude shine (I originally caught a glimpse of it on fellow pinky nude lip lover LisaLisaD1's Instagram page!) and the oversized doefoot applicator makes applying this gloss a tactile dream.  The Nude Slip is slightly sweet (almost cocoa-scented in nature) and marvelously not sticky, though I get at least three hours of wear time before feeling like I need to reapply it.  And, while not purporting to be organic, the Sara Happ line is recognized as an eco-friendly company (e.g., high concentration of organic and natural ingredients, recyclable packaging and a small carbon footprint etc.)  As a beauty product and lip treatment, this multi-facted tube of loveliness (which feels absolutely divine) is a must for nude lip lovers!
Above: The Sara Happ Nude Slip has a plush, oversized doe foot applicator.
Above: Swatches of both the Buriti Bronzer and Nude Slip in natural (of course!) outdoor lighting.
Above: Sara Happ Nude Slip alone on the's a slightly opaque pale pink-tinged beige nude.
Above: The natural glow of the RMS Living Luminizer.
Finally, I've owned the RMS Living Luminizer for over a year now and am still as smitten with its ethereal glow as the day I first procured it.  Its gossamer texture is simply lovely...silky, smooth and endlessly radiant, the Living Luminizer is an illuminator for grown ups!  The sheen is refreshingly understated and sophisticated, imparting a natural luminosity that brightens up the face in all the right places.  I love to sweep this along my brown bones, along my upper cheek bones, down the bridge of my nose...I also touch a bit in the inner corners of my eyes and on my Cupid's bow for good measure.  The formula is unscented, moisturizing and not sticky or oily in texture...when applied strategically, it merely gives the appearance of an extremely good skin day.  Highly recommended for highlighting beginners and enthusiasts alike!

Above: A swatch of the RMS Living Luminizer in direct sunlight...never glittery, always glowing.
Below: Images of all four products in use on my hair and face...
Above: I love the way the Living Luminizer catches light without looking the slightest bit glittery.
Above: The RMS Buriti Bronzer works well as a contour and a single swipe of Sara Happ Nude Slip completes the natural yet polished look.

Bottom Line: Organic, Eco-friendly beauty products can be incredibly easy to embrace...the days of chalky mineral powders and sulfate-free shampoos that refuse to lather are over! Voluminous, bouncy locks and bronzed, glowing skin (that lasts all day, I might add) can be achieved without the inclusion of harmful additives and chemicals; the Thomson DiPalma line, RMS Buriti Bronzer and Living Luminizer and Sara Happ Nude Slip prove that one does not need to compromise beautiful results to enjoy the peace of mind that comes with using natural beauty products.

What are some of YOUR favorite organic and eco-friendly beauty products?  Do share!

Good things ahead...xoxo,

Four Products Currently Rising to the Top in My Routine!

Above: Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream.
As most beauty lovers know, one must use a product for awhile before being able to officially weigh in on its overall efficacy and value.  That being said, there are four products that are currently rising to the top in my daily routine and I wanted to share them before any more time passed!

Kindly scroll on for images, details and the Bottom Line...

Above: Extremely moisturizing but still quite light, this cream absorbs instantly.
    (1) Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream: Retailing for $200, this skincare hybrid is an undeniable investment; however, the fact that it serves as both an eye AND lip product does a bit to offset the cost.  Pleasantly unscented and designed to tighten, brighten and smooth, this rich cream absorbs instantly and clinical trials support the fact that a month of regular use (twice daily) can result in the eye and lip region looking five years younger!  I have been using it for the past three weeks and am loving the firmer, brighter effect.  I have also noticed that the fine lines around my eye area are much less visible...definitely impressed thus far!  I will make sure to do a followup post after a full month trial...

Above: Available exclusively at Neiman Marcus, B The Product features premium ingredients and results.
    2. B The Product Haircare: Offering formulas like Shampoo for Volume, Conditioner for Volume, Revitalized Shampoo, Revitalized Conditioner and Clarifying Shampoo, this Paraben and Sulfate free line has taken over my shower.  As someone who likes to change shampoos every couple of days, I am loving alternating the Shampoo and Conditioner for Volume with the Revitalized formula; I also integrate one day of Clarifying Shampoo (utterly awesome for the cleanest hair in town!) per week for good measure.  My hair is balanced, bouncy and clean, all without an iota of exposure to harmful ingredients.  Oh, and fresh, slightly fruity scent is divine!

Above: Perfectly portable, the Tweezerman LED 15x Lighted Mirror comes in a  travel sheath.
    3. Tweezerman Studio Collection LED 15x Lighted Mirror: This mirror's ultra strong suction cups make mounting it on an existing mirror extremely easy and that's just the beginning!  With the press of  a button, it lights up around the perimeter, creating a distortion-free reflection perfect for close-up procedures.  Tweezing my brows, inserting my contact lenses, applying eye makeup and seeing every single pore is so effortless with this little gem.  Since receiving it, I have found myself using it daily, causing me to wonder what I ever did without it.  At $30, this brilliant, luxe multi-tasker is a veritable steal!
Above: This mirror is priceless for keeping my pores clean and executing delicate maneuvers around the orbital area.

    4. NEST Birchwood Pine Room Spray: Earlier this month, we took down our beloved Christmas tree.  Although the shedding dry pine needles were beginning to make our dining room look like the floor of an authentic forest (!), I instantly missed one element as we hauled our tree to our green recycling bin: the gorgeous scent of fresh pine trees.  Enter the Nest Birchwood Pine Room press of the atomizer and I am transported to a cool, lush pine forest, resplendent with its fresh signature scent.  This is the quintessential post-Christmas, still-in-the-midst-of-winter home fragrance; it freshens the whole house and lifts my spirits, all without a single pine needle in sight!

Above: These drinks  got my brother and me through finals week with our sanity barely intact ; )
Admittedly, I concede that a grande Starbucks Caramel Macchiatto is neither a beauty product nor does it need appropriate testing, however, it HAS been rising to the top in my life as of late.  I get mine with whole milk and extra whipped philosophy is, if I am going to drink it, best make it tasty!

Bottom Line: Each of these four products have seamlessly integrated themselves into my daily routine and consequently, I am enjoying the benefits of younger looking eyes and lips, full and healthy hair, groomed brows (and uber-clean pores!) and house that's reminiscent of a winter chalet, nestled somewhere deep in a Swiss forest.  I hope you enjoyed this product close-up and would love to hear about what is currently rising to the top in YOUR please share!

Good things ahead on the blog including lipgloss from Armour Beauty, products from Daniel Sandler, a beauty look video tutorial, more Surratt Beauty, a "green beauty" post and an overview of my favorite fragrances as of late...oh, and perhaps some sort of homage to Valentine's Day for good measure ; )

    Have a lovely weekend...xx,

    --The Beauty Professor
