Tom Ford Fall 2013 Collection: Vanille Suede Lip Color is a Must...Video Review!

Above: The pure luxury of the Tom Ford insignia.
Earlier this month, the Tom Ford Beauty Fall 2013 Collection arrived to immediate demand for cosmetic aficionados everywhere.  Although I adore the line, the array of gorgeous eye shadow trios that sent shock waves though the makeup community simply were not calling my name.  The same could not be said, however, for the palest Tom Ford lip color to grace the earth...Vanilla Suede! Upon swatching this golden pink, beige-tinged wonder, I knew it had to join my menagerie of nude lip color. Less opaque than the other Tom Ford lip color options, the semi-sheer nature of this lippy actually makes the uber-pale shade easier to embrace.  It brightens up the face without whiting out the lips while single-handedly earning the venerable title of being the lightest lip color I currently own...the mind reels!
Kindly scroll on for product images, swatches, my video review and the Bottom Line...

Above: My Tom Ford precious pales...Nude Vanille and Vanilla Suede,
One cannot help but compare Nude Vanille and Vanilla Suede...despite the fact that they are two of the palest nudes I own, their undertone and pigmentation are strikingly different.  The very fair Nude Vanille appears positively bright salmon pink in contrast to the subtle, semi-sheer Vanilla Suede, which is more true whitish beige in nature.  Whereas Nude Vanille is a pure cream formula, Vanilla Suede contains a baby pink micro-shimmer that adds radiant and glowing dimension to the lips.

Above: Last look...Vanilla Suede.
Bottom Line:  Tom Ford lip color is undeniably decadent...from the exorbitant cost to the extreme pigmentation, this rich formula is worth the investment, especially when you find your perfect shade!  Vanilla Suede gives my ultimate Tom Ford favorite, Nude Vanille, some formidable competition.  I highly recommend Vanilla Suede for nude lip color lovers who seek a ethereal pale beige sheen that makes the face glow!

Good things coming up on Beauty Professor in the coming days...a recap of my Neiman Marcus event, a video review of Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation, a video featuring a new, super-effective strategy for applying liquid liner, compliments of dear friend and Le Metier de Beaute Director of Color, Mikey Castillo and swatches and face charts for the latest Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscopes.  Oh...and I am also working on my latest installment of Office Hours for good measure...xoxo!

  1. Hi there,
This colour looks a little pale for my lips cause they are quite pigmented it is a very pretty colour though.
On the other hand nude vanille is unbelievable it is so perfect. I looked at your review of it and with it on your lips and it compliments your complexion perfectly, now I want it.
I hope that your week is off to a great start.
My boys are on school holidays now for 2 weeks so it's lovely and relaxing, not having to rush there every morning and afternoon. It can be a bit harder to entertain all 5 of them though. Well only 4 need entertainment cause Hunter Stevie only 12 weeks so she's asleep most of the time.

    Take care and talk soon

    1. Hello Julie!

Good to hear from you...I am so glad you may get Nude Vanille...it is definitely a bit deeper and more pigmented (though still quite pale) than Vanilla Suede and I am sure it would look gorgeous on you. How fun that you are having some restful family time...that sounds blissful right now. Hunter Stevie...what an adorable name and 12 weeks old...I am sure she is an absolute doll!

      xoxo and talk soon,

    2. Hi Lovely,
I just read your reply and re read my post, and it's just Hunter no Stevie after it , just a miss type from my phone although it is quite funny that it came up as that because my husband's name is Steven.
The other kids are Boston, Deacon, Harper and Miller.
Do you have any children or planning any?
I can already see how much three girls are going to cost me if they are into their make up and skincare like me. When ever we go anywhere they always ask for a bit of lipgloss.

    3. Hello Julie,

Got it...well Hunter by itself is an adorable name nonetheless ; ) No children yet, but God-willing in the future! I am sure that if all of your girls (sweet names for all of your kids, by the way) end up loving beauty products as much as you do (and how could they not?!), it will be a true adventure to figure out ways to accommodate their desires ; )

      xoxo and talk soon!

  2. Hello dearest B.P!!!!!!

It feels like eons since I have being able to indulge in my essential B.P blog reading, and of course, commenting and conversing with you! Unfortunately my last week was a blurry mix of working late and post-graduate study requirements, which sadly did not leave room for much else. Thank you for your great review I must say that Vanilla Suede looks very intriguing and on the right person such as yourself, definitely adds a lift and radiance. I will have to get the O Cloud as it looks amazing and adds the right amount of bounce, volume and silkiness whilst being easy to use and not time consuming.

So...this weekend I went to IMATS and it was awesome! I got the wonderful opportunity to meet the lovely and legendary Australian makeup artist Rae Morris, and even got a photo with her! Rae gave a talk on upcoming makeup trends for 2014 whilst clarifying correct technique for contouring and bronzing. Suffice to say I was enthralled. Hubby even stayed for the hour and helpfully carried my purchases, so he got extra brownie points:). I particularly enjoyed Rae's humble and informal demeanor, which only added to her charm and put everyone at ease. I purchased:
-The Konjac sponge (I don't know whether you've tried these before, but the one I purchased for sensitive skin feels lovely, and provides a nice massage with cleanser).
-2 neutral eye shadows and 1 cream blush from Gorgeous Cosmetics. This is the first time I have tried the brand and so far I can say that the shadows appear highly pigmented although are a little dusty (however the pigmentation makes up for this).
-Mac palettes for eyeshadow and blush. Mac cream blush in Brit Wit, which I am loving. Contour powder in Shadowy.
-Inglot eyebrow crayon (this has an interesting waxy texture) and blush in 55.
-Rae Morris brushes (lovely and soft).
-Rae Morris and Jemma Kid makeup application books.
-Bioderma eye makeup remover (an absolute staple and necessity for my sensitive skin).

Dearest B.P wishing you an absolutely fantastic week ahead, despite your hectic teaching schedule, and I can't wait to read about how your Neiman Marcus event went! Xxxoxxooxo

    1. Hello dearest Karen!

What a joy to hear from you. I totally know what you mean about the days being a blur...my work schedule is insane lately and I feel like I can barely catch my breath! Thanks for your sweet words about my latest reviews...do keep me posted on what you get!

Speaking of getting things...oh my goodness...your IMATS haul was amazing...I love that your husband came with you and helped you carry your loot. Good men are a blessing, indeed! I would love to see your picture with Rae Morris...do send it via email if you think of it!

I have heard of the Konjac sponge but haven't tried it yet...please let me know your thoughts on your experience. What a bevy of gorgeous eye products...MAC, Inglot...one cannot go wrong! The Rae Morris brushes sound heavenly...will have to find them online. Also, I know many who sing the praises of the Bioderma and am glad it works well for your sensitive skin. I believe it is very similar in composition to my beloved Koh Gen Do Spa water...it is all I use to cleanse each day and I've remained loyal for 2 years!

I hope your week is marvelous and that you manage to get a bit of rest at some point ; ) New posts live soon!

      xoxo to you!
