Youngblood Fall 2013 Collection…Swatches and Video Review!

Above: The Youngblood Fall 2013 Collection, resplendent in fall tones…lipgloss in Siren, eyeshadow quad in Glamour-Eyes and mineral blush in Temptress.

Isn’t it always the way with seasonal collections?  Just as I have come to accept that I am actually experiencing summer (which, for the most part, is bliss by the way!), cosmetic companies effortlessly whet our appetites for colder weather with the release of the fall collections.  I may be living in a uniform of cutoff shorts and sandals right now, but the deep, rich hues of fall makeup make me begin to yearn for brisk evenings that require swingy coats, jeans and my utter favorite…boots!

The Youngblood Fall 2013 Collection: Going for Glamour, to be officially released on August 1st, is no exception to the fall makeup rule…rich taupe, lush blue and beguiling burgundy tones beckon the wearer to embrace a cooler time of year, one marked by crisp air and colorful leaves.

Kindly scroll on for product images, swatches, pictures of the products on my face AND a video review!!
Above: Glamour-Eyes Eyeshadow Quad.
The first item in the collection is the Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in Glamour-Eyes.  Retailing for $43, the four shades present varying degrees of brown and blue in the most delightfully unexpected way.  Enticing is a cashmere taupe, Alluring is a warm chocolate taupe, Stunning is a creamy denim blue and Charming is a lush ice blue

Above and below…swatches of Glamour-Eyes in artificial light and natural light.

Above: The pigmentation on Temptress is amazing.
The next item is the Pressed Mineral Blush in Temptress, a deep cranberry with gold flecks.  Retailing for $25, this blush is extremely pigmented!  In my look below, I applied it first and then followed up with foundation over it to create a flushed, lit from within look (also explained in the video).  Bold blush lovers should put Temptress at the top of their buy list!
Above: You can see the subtle gold flecks in this particular image.

The final element of the Going for Glamour collection is lipgloss in the shade, Siren, a deep burgundy with shimmer.  Retailing for $23, this gloss provides a moisturizing sheen that can be blotted for a stained look or built up for unstoppable ruby-tinged lips.
Above: Swatches showcasing the complex tone and shimmer of Siren in indoor lighting.
Below are images of the collection on my face…even though the colors are quite dramatic, they can be sheered out for a very wearable, everyday look!

Bottom Line: The Youngblood Fall 2013 Collection is simply gorgeous…it can be applied sheerly for an everyday look or built up to maximum strength for intense glamour.  I am always pleased with the Youngblood line and this collection is no exception.  Highly recommended!

**PR sample provided for review, however, as
always, all of my opinions are expressly and unequivocally my own.

Hi B.P, I absolutly love the swatches you have of the eyeshadows. We actuallygot this in at work because we carry youngblood at the salon but I have'nt had a chance to really check it out. Since I am a brown eyeshadow girl, I really like this quad. I can maybe switch it up with the pretty blues too. I know these aren't your fav colors, but the lip color makes your eyes pop! Sad to report my kanebo did'nt come yesterday. Kimmie said b/c it was after 6, it went out the next day. Hoping to get it today but not sure if fedex comes sat. As always, thank you for the best swatches/videos.

      Hello Lynn!

Thank you so much…this quad was surprisingly wearable, especially in light of the blues! Thanks also for your sweet words about the lip color and my eyes…sometimes reviewing new collections encourages me to be more adventurous than I otherwise would. I bet the quad would look gorgeous on you! So bummed that your Kanebo didn't arrive…it must be coming tomorrow, then…I guess that will make a Monday more bearable ; ) Keep me posted!!

      xoxo

Hello B.P, I'm happy to report after a great day at the beach, my Kanebo has arrived!! along with my foundation, the wonderful Kimmie included more samples of the amazing skincare line. But along with the Cellular Performance wrinkle repair line that I have been using religiously every night, she also sent me 3 of the Ultimate line which she uses herself. She loves it. It probably costs even more than the other, but I'm so excited to try it. I honestly have spent so much on skincare between, Perricone, Philosophy, Serious skincare, Stri-vectin to name a few. I am loving the way my skin looks more tight and hydrated just using the samples she gave me now about 2 weeks. I just might justify buying just a few of the important ones like you have mentioned. I'm getting such great results. So happy to have my own jar of the anxiously awaited Kanebo! Thanks for introducing me to such a fantastic line.

I know that Feeling! I love summer, but I sometimes find myself thinking: "raspberry lipstick is nice for fall.". i will regret it as soon as the sun´s not out anymore. 😀

hi! happy sunday to you!!! it was great waking up this morning and watching your wonderful tutorial! i never heard of youngblood cosmetics. i do wear jane iredale's products(which are mineral based) for years. since i live in cincinnati, it's unlikely i'll be able to purchase them in person but, i'll look on their website. if i was in a store carrying this line, my first impression would be to "shy" away from this collection. i love the taupes but, the blues would scare me away. and, i usually always gravitate toward nude or pale lip color. you made this so wearable and, it changed my perspective on wanting to try this collection! could you please tell me what color(s) you used to either line or rim under your eyes? and, what concealer you used (if any)? your skin looks so luminous. are you using the kanebo? i am running out of my summer colors quickly (hitting the pan on some). i'm not sure what to do. most are limited editions especially my eyeshadow (summer collection, chanel). so, makeup shopping is on the list today. did you see laura mercier's for fall? i love the pale lip. the eyeshadow selection is all black so, i'll have to schedule an appointment to try it on. i hope you'll do a review!! thankyou very much for this wonderful post, as always! i will definitely search to see if there's anyone who sells youngblood locally. you're the best!!! wendy. xxxooo

Happy Sunday to you as well, Wendy!

Thanks for your kind words about my tutorial! I did my best to make what would otherwise seem to be extremely bold colors a bit more understated. You cannot go wrong with this line…excellent ingredients, lovely colors and innovative releases. One of my favorite pink/nude lip colors is from this line…Debalicious (which I've swatched and reviewed on my blog in the past). I wore the Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Cream Foundation in Natural Beige on my face (this stuff is incredible…great coverage with a luminous, skin-like finish) with a bit of Cle de Peau Concealer in Beige under my eyes. I also put a mixture of Enticing and Alluring to line my lower lashes! I did see the Laura Mercier fall collection…very pretty! I ended up picking up the lip plumper in Charmed and the Rouge Nouveau in Coy (a perfect peachy pink). I ended up staying away from the eye options for the reasons you mentioned…too dark ; ) Let me know how your appointment goes!

I am so glad you enjoyed my post and hope you have a wonderful remainder of the weekend…xoxo and talk soon!

Hi BP! I know how much you love soft blush and cheek colors but I have to tell you that these particular berry/burgundies look phenomenal on you!! Really lovely rich complex colors that make me yearn for riding boots and fluffy sweaters! I've never used Youngblood so thank you for the introduction to this beautiful line. I really enjoyed the swatches and your video. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon.

      Hello SJ,

Wow…thanks so much for the compliment!! This whole collection definitely has harnessed the power of rich, saturated colors! Let me know if you have any questions about the Youngblood line…it is mineral based, great for sensitive skin and uses premium ingredients…will be doing a video reviewing the different foundation formulas in the YB line soon!

xoxo and have a lovely rest of your Sunday,
