Youngblood Summer 2013 Collection…Swatches, Review and Video!

With summer mere weeks away, I am excited to present the latest releases from Youngblood…the Summer 2013 Collection!  Focusing on a rich, bold, tropical lip and full lashes, this collection consists of a lip color, lip gloss and an eyelash serum designed to stimulate lash strength and growth.

Above: Youngblood Dragon Fruit is a brilliant semi-sheer pink with a creamy, shiny finish.
Like all Youngblood lipsticks (which retail for $19), Dragon Fruit contains moisturizing botanicals and Vitamin E to smooth and condition lips with every application.  Dragon Fruit is a semi-sheer bright pink that builds to full coverage with two coats; it has a creamy, shiny finish that is simply beautiful.  I find that this particular shade enhances the whiteness of one’s teeth and creates a cheery statement without saying “look at me!”  Despite the fact that I tend to shy away from bold shades (my menagerie of nudes and baby pinks is extensive), I have truly enjoyed my experiences with Dragon Fruit thus far.
Above: Youngblood Mighty Shiny Lip Gel in Flaunt is a bright pink with a slight dash of golden shimmer.
The Mighty Shiny Lip Gel in Flaunt (which retails for $25) is a cushiony, high-shine gloss in a glowing  medium pink with slight shimmer.  The formula contains Momordica Grosvenorii Fruit Extract, which is lauded for its antioxidants and ability to fight free radicals.  Jojoba Seed Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil provide the perfect trifecta to soften, moisturize and condition dry lips with every application.  This gloss is a delight to apply…from the slanted tip that crowns the squeeze tube to the instantly hydrating sensation (that somehow lasts on the lips without being overtly sticky), I have been enjoying wearing this by itself, over Dragon Fruit and even over paler lip color options, like my beloved Tom Ford Nude Vanille. This gloss can do no wrong!

Youngblood also released an eyelash serum that encourages noticeably stronger, thicker and longer looking lashes, without eye irritation or discoloration!  Retailing for $130, the Maxim-Eyes Natural Eyelash Restorative Serum utilizes a formula of vitamins, minerals and botanticals and can be applied to both the upper and lower lash lines as well as eyebrows.  The unique ingredients that work in harmony to achieve growth include Pentapeptide 10%, Panthenol and Allantoin; twice daily applications should yield results in as little as two to four weeks!
I love the idea of using a product that potentially gives a Latisse-like outcome without the troubling Latisse-like side-effects…I have recently begun to apply Maxim-Eyes nightly and will report back on my experience in a few weeks ; )

The next few images feature Dragonfruit + Flaunt on the lips in various lighting…my video review of the collection is near the end of this post!

Bottom Line:  Since I said most everything in my video above, I will keep these final words succinct…the Youngblood Summer 2013 Collection is simply brilliant.  As I’ve already mentioned, I am not usually one for bold lip color, but Dragonfruit and Flaunt have the rare capability of bringing brightness to the face while still looking natural and polished.  I envision myself wearing this combination throughout the warm summer months to come!  Finally, the Maxim-Eyes Natural Eyelash Restorative Serum is so promising…the prospect of increasing the length and volume of my lashes without the typical risks associated with products that make similar claims is quite alluring.  I will make sure to update with my results next month.  All in all, the Youngblood Summer 2013 Collection is both gorgeous and utilitarian…what beauty lover doesn’t want juicy flushed lips and lush lashes?!

opinions are expressly and unequivocally my own.

Hi Anon…I must admit, I haven't been using it regularly so I cannot weigh in on its efficacy yet! I got a cold and then experienced some intense seasonal allergies right after receiving the serum and decided to hold off on trying it until my I felt better and my eyes stopped watering from my seasonal allergies. I now feel much much better and will be trying it faithfully this month…should have some clear results to report in early August!
