Top Shop Whimsical Lipstick Review!

Above: The Top Shop lipstick comes in a black and white metal case that is both sturdy and refreshingly lightweight.

While at The Grove in LA with my mom this weekend, I popped into the new Top Shop store and, before I knew it, found myself buying yet another pinky-peach lip color!

Whimsical is a creamy, semi-matte pastel that is pale enough to be interesting and pigmented enough to add a brilliant swath of color to the face.

In honor of this new acquisition, I created a brief review video…after viewing, kindly scroll on for additional images and the Bottom Line!

Above: The Top Shop lipstick retails for $16.
Above: I love the contrast and simplicity of the cardboard packaging…actually quite detailed for less-expensive lip color.

Above: Ingredients.
Above: Whimsical in all of its peachy-pink glory.
Above: A swatch of Whimsical in natural lighting.
Below: The last three images reflect Whimsical on the lips in various lighting…
Above: On the lips!

Bottom Line: Whimsical’s peachy-pink loveliness is a happy surprise.  Initially, I considered my purchase of this lip color an experiment with the Top Shop cosmetics line…upon using this for the weekend, I couldn’t be happier with the results.  This lipstick is creamy, opaque, semi-matte, richly-pigmented and lasts comfortably for 3-4 hours before the need to touch up becomes exigent.  It is not drying and the scent is pleasant (kind of like dried fruit) and dissipates quickly upon application.  If you are a lover of peachy pinks (e.g., Illamasqua Obey, Burberry Pink Apricot and Le Metier de Beaute Two Lips etc.) as I am, I highly recommend this reasonably affordable option!
Have YOU tried any cosmetics from the Top Shop Beauty line?  Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Ellie…I rarely wear my hair all the way up on my head but I just may have to embrace the style more often : ) This Top Shop lipstick makes me want to pick up a couple more for sure! Can't wait to hear your thoughts if/when you try them!

Hi B.P, as always, another pale peachy-pink treasure! I actually love the pigment to it. Your hair looks adorable up by the way. I'm on your blog checking out LMdB swatches as I'm about to order the foundation! I've read great reviews on it's staying power including yours. Color may be tricky picking online so I'm goin to get a beauty specialist to assist me. May have to buy some Top Shop while I'm at it. Have a great week. Talk soon. xo

Hello Lynn…yes, I may have a certifiable problem when it comes to peachy-pink lip color. Thanks for your sweet words about my hair…it was definitely an experiment for this video : ) I am so excited that you are going to try the LMdB foundation…it is truly lovely (great coverage, glow and lasting power). I wear #7 for most of the year (though it is a hint dark for my post-winter skin right now).

Keep me posted on what you decide and have a wonderful rest of the week!

      xoxo,

Hi B.P, can't wait for the review on the kanebo sensai cellular foundation. I'm wondering where to purchase it. It looks beautiful and the finish sounds like I would love it! I am having samples sent to me for the LMdB foundation because when I tried to speak to a beauty advisor, their computers were down! They transferred me to a California Nordstrom! Hopefully they will arrive soon. Not sure if I a 5, 7, or 9! Talk soon xoxo
