Eleven Essentials: A New Makeup Preview...Happy Saturday!

Above (from left to right): Beauty Blender, Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer in Medium 22, Alterna Kendi Micro Mist, Guerlain Four Seasons Bronzer in Nude 00, Hourglass Immaculate Foundation, African Botanics Marula Eye Serum, Evian mist, Dolce and Gabbana Natural Monica lipstick, Tom Ford Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust (Summer 2013), MAC Up the Amp, Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer in #107.

Even though the last couple of weeks have been in insane in terms of work responsibilities, I've somehow found some time to procure some new makeup.  The products above are quickly earning a place amongst my current favorites!

Although it will take me awhile to give each one a proper review, I thought I would offer a quick preview of posts to come...

    1. Beauty Blender--has completely changed the way I apply makeup!
    2. Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in #22--great lasting power for the under eye region
    3. Guerlain Four Seasons Bronzer in Nude 00--a pale bronzer that brings life to the face...cannot be over-applied!
    4. Alterna Kendi Micro Mist Dry Oil spray--I've gone through 2 bottles of the traditional spray version and am loving this extra-dry version.
    5. Hourglass Immaculate Foundation in Golden--a perfect neutral to warm shade for NC23-25 skin.  The finish and lasting power of this foundation is rave-worthy.
    6. African Botanics Marula Eye Serum--I love the natural ingredients and the way it smooths my eye area.
    7. Evian spray--works like a charm with my Beauty Blender.
    8. Dolce and Gabbana Natural Monica lipstick--a medium nude with a glowing finish.
    9. Tom Ford Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust--Summer 2013 is finally here and Pink Lust is one of its spoils!
    10. MAC lip color in Up the Amp--an old favorite from college, delightfully revisited.
    11. Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer in #107--a creamy pink beige (what else?!) with absolutely no shimmer = divine.

**Also, in the queue...Serge Lutens Base and Teint Si Fin Powder, Bobbi Brown Bronzer, my current, haircare routine, summer hairstyles tutorial, recent empties and Guerlain's new lipgloss!

Above: FOTD wearing Hourglass Immaculate Foundation in Golden (applied with an Evian-misted Beauty Blender), Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer #22, Guerlain Four Seasons Bronzer in Nude 00, and a mixture of MAC Up the Amp lipstick with Giorgio Armani Lip Lacquer in #107.  I used my Calista ION Hot Rollers for Long Hair to curl my hair and added a quick spray of Alterna Kendi Dry Oil Mist for shine and finishing.

As soon as time permits, I will be posting reviews of all of these incredible the meanwhile, please subscribe to my YouTube channel (where I'll be posting a "Makeup for Job Interviews" tutorial early next week)!

Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned?  Thoughts?!  Which one would you like to see an in-depth review on first?

    Hourglass #28 Lip Oil...a Review

Above: The Hourglass #28 Lip Oil features an innovative pump dispenser and luxurious 24 karat gold-plated tip that allows the product to effortlessly glide across the lips.

I recently had the chance to try the Hourglass #28 Lip Oil; to put my trial into the proper context, kindly allow me to describe my lips.  Despite using a litany of high-end lip products, my lips have always battled with dryness.  Once they get chapped, they then begin to peel incessantly, which is both annoying and uncomfortable!  Some of the products that have helped me to combat said dehydration include Rouge Bunny Rouge Shimmering Luxe Balm, Lip Fusion XL and Koh Gen Do Lip Chiffon.  None of them have completely eradicated my dryness, but all have helped to make it more manageable.

I am happy to report that it is time for me to add a new product to my arsenal...the Hourglass #28 Lip Oil not only has added extreme moisture to my lips, but it also has improved the overall texture of my lip is smoother, fuller and and delightfully pillowy.  The scent translates to a very natural aroma; once applied, I immediately a complex blend of note lemon, ylang ylang and clove.  I appreciate the fact that does not have any added artificial fragrance...the scent is created by the active ingredients themselves!  Although it does not purport to be a "lip plumper" (like Lip Venom or Lip Fusion) per se, the 28 carefully-curated botanical ingredients work in harmony to fill in fine lines and increase hydration, ultimately resulting in a fuller, healthier lip zone!

Read on for official product information as well as my latest video on this product...

Guerlain Cils D'Enfer MaxiLash Mascara...A Heavenly Result!

Above: I love the soft gold square casing of the Guerlain Cils D'Enfer Maxilash Mascara.

I wear mascara most every day (except for the rare weekends when I am around the house all day...whose with me?!).  In turn, I look for mascara that adds exceptional volume and length, doesn't clump or smudge and lasts until I choose to remove that too much to ask?

Since its debut in late December 2012, I've found myself reaching for it multiple times a week!

Above: Noir 01 is a deep and glossy jet black.

Above: The brush for this mascara is medium-sized (smaller/thinner than the Rouge Bunny Rouge Megaplumes and larger /wider than Guerlain Le 2)

Retailing for $30, this mascara boasts a beautiful soft gold square case and a medium-sized brush that dispenses the rich mascara formula evenly and in a clump-free manner.  Like most Guerlain products, this mascara has a violet floral scent that dissipates quickly...thankfully, it has in no way irritated my sensitive, contact lens wearing eyes!

I generally apply two to three coats for maximum impact and find that it lasts the entire day without fallout or the interim, my lashes are full and dark, yet remarkably flexible.  This removes easily with soap and water or eye makeup remover.

Scroll on for images of MaxiLash on the eyes and the Bottom Line...

Above: A picture is worth a thousand words...on the left eye...two coats of Guerlain MaxiLash, on the right eye, no mascara whatsoever.

Above and below: This mascara dramatically increases volume and length with two coats!

Above: This makes my lashes so long that they nearly touch my eyebrows!

Above: The full picture...MaxiLash truly lives up to its name!

Bottom Line: When I am in a hurry and can only apply two coats quickly, the Guerlain Cils D'Enfer MaxiLash is what I find myself reaching for most.  Its medium-sized brush deposits the formula quickly and effortlessly and the length and volume I get from a few concerted seconds on each eye is significant! I adore the case (which feels a tad shorter than most mascara packaging) because it is gorgeous and nestles into my cosmetics bag with ease.  Eyelashes from hell?  I think not!  I prefer to believe that this yields heavenly eyelashes instead ; ) Overall, this is a gorgeous mascara option for one in search of dark, lush and dangerously long lashes!

What are some of your favorite mascaras?
