LMdB Bauhaus Kaleidoscope…a Treat for the Lips!

Above: The Le Metier de Beaute Bauhaus Lip Color Kaleidoscope.

I recently had the chance to try the Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope in Bauhaus (which retails for $95), a beautiful, limited-edition collection of four jewel-toned yet extremely wearable lip colors.

According to Le Metier de Beaute, the Bauhaus Lip Kaleidoscope is…

A deviously divine mix of function, flame, and form, Le Métier de Beauté [I fixed their online name error] introduces the newest Holiday Kaleidoscope Lip Kit, “Bauhaus.” Each distinctive hue blends together effortlessly for a dimensional pout, mirroring the bold Bauhaus notion of combining unique parts for a collective whole. Lips will be left with a total package, mixing statement and sophistication.

The shades, from top to bottom are:

  • Linaire: a lustrous gold-infused rose petal
  • Criterion: a gilded amber-peach that translates to a very pale neutral
  • Esthetique: a shimmering vintage rose (similar to but slightly brighter than Linaire)
  • Silhouette: a Cimmerian cloak of sheer amethyst
These shades are quite sheer, but this makes the colors very easy to wear…I like mixing and applying the shades over a pale nude, like Tom Ford Nude Vanille, to give them an opaque and creamy look.  The possibilities are endless!  I love the moisturizing and long lasting formula indicative of classic Le Metier de Beaute quality.  All in all, a gorgeous collection!

Scroll on for product images and swatches…

Above clockwise from top left: Linaire, Criterion, Esthetique, Silhouette alone on the lips.
Bottom Line: I am so pleased with my very first Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope…since receiving it, I have worn every shade multiple times.  Bauhaus is simple to apply and the combination possibilities makes this a very versatile product.  The kaleidoscope case is lighter than one would expect, making it reasonable to tote around in my handbag.  I love this and would recommend it as a quintessential gift for any LMdB lip color lover!
**PR sample provided for review, however, as always, all of my opinions are expressly and unequivocally my own.

I had not seen these before…very nice! Especially good, if they give long lasting moisture and stay true to color…

I've always wanted to try Lmdb products but always can't seem to justify the price tag. The packaging looks gorgeous though.

      Hi Tracy,

Thanks for stopping by! I agree that the LMdB line is a bit of an investment, but there truly are some really worthy products! What are some of your favorite lines?

      Have a wonderful week,

    Hi Beauty Professor!

I do love the fact that you can combine the shades in LMdB's kaleidoscope kits. I own one of their lip kaleidoscopes, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. I know it has a pale pink, a gold, a shimmery strawberry color and a light grape color. Ecumes d'Or, maybe? I wish I had it with me so I could get the name right, lol! These colors seemed a bit too "dark" for me, but I like the idea of layering them over a pale lip color. Great suggestion!

I had to laugh at one of your earlier posts because you mentioned buying mint M&Ms at Target. I am OBSESSED with those!! And the only place I can find them is Target, so I have slowly been acquiring bag after bag so I have them after Christmas is over and they stop carrying them! Lol. So, it seems we share similar foundation shades, lipstick colors….and taste in candy!

Speaking of lipstick shades, I totally agree that Nude Vanille is one of those shades to always have with you. I wear it so much. In fact, I am starting to get a little paranoid that it might be discontinued because I love it so much. Honestly, I think it is the best nude I ever owned.

Did you happen to see the new NARS set inspired by Edie Sedgewick? There is an eyeliner (one of the stylo ones), an eyeshadow, a blush, and this uber-nude lipstick. I saw swatches on Best Things in Beauty. It looks almost like a concealer, that is how pale it is. I am intrigued. And I just watched the movie "Factory Girl" about the life of Edie Sedgewick, so that is fueling the fire.

I am sort of facing a foundation dilemma. I am getting much more pale of late, and I am having a hard time matching foundations. I may have to invest in a lighter color of the LMdB foundation. I always have KGD's BE-1, but it may be time to get something lighter than Shade 7. Luckily, you have all these incredible brands swatched to help me choose!

Hope you're having a good week and talk to you soon!

    xoxo.

      Hello Kate!

As always, so lovely to hear from you. I hope your week went well; mine went by in a flash…teaching and grading and finals and wow…Christmas is almost here!

This is the first LMdB kaleidoscope I have owned…although I've always been intrigued by their beauty, the eye shadow versions seem the most prevalent, and I rarely wear more than one color on my lids, so I couldn't justify the purchase. This lip version, however, is completely useful to my purposes and it is currently spending some quality time in my handbag.

Why am I not surprised that we both love mint M & M's? Over overlapping tastes seem to be endless ; ) I am not even a major candy fan, but it feels like I could consume a never-ending supply of these! With regards to Nude Vanille…thanks again for the encouragement that prompted me to buy this shade…I think I shall have to purchase a back up soon as I am halfway down the tube!! It is just so versatile…by itself, mixed with TF Pink Dusk, under a darker gloss, it is divine!

I did see the NARS Edie Sedgewick collection…I swatched the lipstick at Nordstrom a month or so ago and felt like it might be too light and dry for me (the NARS matte formula is lovely but quite drying on my lips…I have "Bangkok," a light pink/mauve but don't wear it often for that reason). "Factory Girl" was intense…I love that era in fashion and makeup!

Rapid paling syndrome (that is what I call what goes on with my skin this time of year!)…quite a nuisance. Perhaps the TF foundation stick in #5? It is indeed lighter and a bit less golden than the LMdB #7…I am still loving this for a full face, touch ups, or even as concealer. As bananas as this sounds, I have also been wearing a lot of the Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation in Warm Golden (which is very close in shade to the TF #5)…it looks completely natural and lasts longer than anything I have ever encountered. I have never been a fan of Revlon (or any drugstore foundations) in the past, so this experience is just completely unexpected. It seems to be the perfect shade for my winter transition skin and is saving me from buying another shade in a high-end brand as my skin tone continues to morph ; )

What are your Christmas plans? I am looking forward to being home, enjoying time with my family and swatching like crazy ; )

Hope to hear from you soon…xoxo,

    Hello!
Love your post on this- all the colours look amazing- my only concern is that once applied, surely we are not expected to 'lug' this in our handbag for touch ups?! what do u think- I am enjoying my first LMdB gloss and it is a lovely nude- Cafe Creme- sure u have it!

Thank you, Jo! You raise a fair point about "lugging" the shades around…here's my answer to your concern: The kaleidoscope itself is not heavy at all (which was a huge surprise to me) and it takes up about as much room as decent powder compact. In turn (and to be fair, I have a large handbag!), it bounces around in the bottom of my purse without incident!

Cafe Creme is just lovely…congrats on your new acquisition! Believe it or not, I don't have it…I opted for Bloom instead (which is similar in nude tone and an exclusive at NM in Beverly Hills)!

      Take care and talk soon!
