Tom Ford Lip Gloss in Naked

Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naked.
Tom Ford’s lip colors are expensive…there is no way around it.  Spending over $40 for a single lip product is a bit daft, but the colors, texture and formula of this line are magnificent, making it a splurge worthy-purchase from time to time.  I recently bought the Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naked during the Neiman Marcus Beauty Event and couldn’t be more pleased with the perfect color, opacity and overall quality of this product!  Please allow the following images to speak for themselves…
Naked is a creamy and opaque nude beige pink.
The Tom Ford Ultra Gloss comes in a clear square lucite-like container with a brush applicator.
This gloss is so opaque yet illuminating without any obvious shimmer…a divine combination.
It is a touch sticky, but for me,  that lends to the lasting power of the gloss!
Tom Ford Ultra Shine Gloss in Naked alone on the lips.

Wearing a touch of GA Maestro Foundation and a swipe of TF gloss in Naked…paired down yet polished.

Bottom Line: Tom Ford’s Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naked is a beautiful, creamy nude that looks lovely alone and even better over a peachy/pink lipstick like Beauty Is Life Cosmopolitan or Chanel Rouge Allure in Gracile (to be reviewed very soon!).  It is quite opaque but has enough of a pale pink beige hue to avoid washing out the face.  I have used it in some capacity everyday since purchasing it…at $45, it is an investment, but the consistent wear I get out of it makes it a worthwhile purchase for this nude lip color fanatic!

You look gorgeous! I agree, the price is a tad high but sometimes we have to splurge for great quality.

There's no way I'll ever be owning this, but I have to say, it is seriously one of the prettiest gloss shades I've seen in a long time!

Thanks for your comment, Catherine…it is exorbitant but quite well worth saving up for…not a dupe to be found within my nude gloss collection.

      Warm regards,

    Hi Beauty Professor!

Ahhh…..I knew I should have bought that!! I have been looking at that gloss for months now. I already own one in Rose Crush, a lovely brownish, nude rose that I wear over my EB lipstick in Pure Impulse, and I love it. Naked looks lovely on you. I adore Tom Ford's lipstick formula, as well as the gloss formula. I know this would look gorgeous over my TF lipstick in Nude Vanille. Onto the wishlist it goes!!

This has seriously been the week from hell – my law firm's server crashed and we may have lost a lot of data, so I was without internet (as well as many other things) for a few days. It's amazing how dependent we are on computers – it's a little scary, actually! Anyway, I have been in withdrawl from not being able to read your blog, so I was thrilled when I could access it. I was even more thrilled when I saw your review of the Maestro foundation! I am still on the fence between 5.5 and 6.5. I like that 6.5 leans a little more yellow. It sounds like either shade will blend well, so I might just go with 6.5. This foundation certainly seems like a winner. I am so excited to try it out!

It sounds like your semester is going well. I hope the students stay just as eager as they are now as the semester progresses. Sometimes I really miss being a student – I loved it so much. Some of my happiest times were in law school (weird, I know.)

As always, excellent reviews. I will let you know once I get the Maestro (and also the Naked lip gloss)! I'm sure we will talk soon!

    xoxo,
    Kate

    Hello Dear Kate!

Wonderful to hear from you! Why am I not surprised that you have been contemplating Naked? ; ) This is my first TF gloss and I am so happy I got it…it just makes every other lip color creamier and a bit paler (which is a perfect combination for my tastes!). This week, I've been trying it over Chanel's Chintz (I was waaay late in the game in acquiring this peachy pink gem). How do you feel about Nude Vanille? I have been vacillating about whether to get it or not for awhile…it seems like it could be too pale/white on me…thoughts?!

So sorry to hear about your data and Internet debacle…that has got to be excruciatingly frustrating. You are right…we are beyond reliant on all things technical and, once that connection is compromised, we are helpless. On a much less exigent (but equally inconvenient note) our Internet router died and, with our intense work schedules, it took us a day or so to be able to replace it and reconfigure it successfully. Until that point, our productivity all but ceased! I am glad you are still thinking about Maestro…if you can get it at Nordstrom, I suggest trying the 6.5 and if it ends up seeming too dark, at least the exchange for 5.5 will be simple and comfortable there. The 6.5 is nowhere as dark as I initially thought and I will probably be able to wear it all fall (and maybe even winter) without needing to change.

My semester is indeed going well…I love teaching communication (which is a good thing since I do it A LOT!) and the days just seem to fly right by. When you have good professors, school can be a ball so I completely understand why law school was enjoyable for you. What type of law do you practice? Do you feel like you work ALL the time (that is what my other attorney friends say…I can relate!).

Thanks for your encouraging words and do keep me posted on your Maestro quest…it is always a joy to communicate with you!

    Have lovely weekend…xoxo,

    Hi Beauty Professor!

It is so fun talking to you, too!! I have to tell you, one of my first thoughts when the server crashed was, "Well, how am I supposed to communicate with my favorite blog author?!" Clearly you know where my priorities were! It really is a joy to read the blog, and also to chat with you. It's a shame – my cousin used to live in L.A. before she moved to San Francisco, and if she still lived in L.A., maybe we could have met for a day of shopping. If I am ever on the West Coast, I will have to let you know.

Ah, Nude Vanille….honestly, it is one of my favorite lip colors. I wear it a lot. I don't personally find it too light or pale, but I do like REALLY pale lip colors. It is so creamy and it has a nice blend of pink and peach tones to it. You and I have similar eye colors, and I think it would look nice on you. I wear it alone or with gloss. One gloss I love that I don't think I have mentioned to you before is Too Faced's Glamour Gloss in Pillow Talk. It is a nice nude with mauve undertones. I also wear the Nude Vanille with LMdB's Lip Creme in Creme de la Creme. If you wanted to darken Nude Vanille just a little, I bet LMdB's lip cream in Two Lips would look great over it.

I just talked to our IT guy and we have begun the process of ordering a new server. Our old one is too corrupted and unstable to use. So, we are essentially starting from scratch. Hopefully the data recovery people are able to pull something from the hard drive we sent them. Somehow I became our firm's IT person because I know the most about it. And when I say "most," I don't mean a lot. Lol! It's all relative. We're a smaller firm, so it's not too bad to manage. A lot of times I just tell people to restart their computer 😉

I practice almost exclusively civil defense work. We do a lot of insurance defense litigation. I would say 60% of what I do is medical malpractice defense. We do the malpractice work for a local hospital and some physicians. The other part of my work is corporate law and other kinds of insurance defense. My hours are totally reasonable, mostly because I live in a pretty small town (about 80,000). I do love my job, and I love where I work. Sometimes I think it would be fun to try a larger firm, but I know that would mean worse hours. I do feel like I think about my job all the time, even if I am not there.

I am definitely going to try the 6.5. And I was thinking Nordstroms in terms of their return policy. You just can't beat that. I love ordering from them online. If I order something on Monday, I almost always have it Thursday. Not too bad when the closest Nordie's to me is at least 2.5 hours away 🙁

I am really curious about Chintz. That name sounds familiar, but I can't think of what it looks like. I can't wait to see your review on it. I have to say, Chanel is not my favorite lipstick formula, but a good color is a good color! And Naked is in the cards for me.

Have a lovely weekend and we will talk soon! Glad your Internet is back up and running! Take care!

    xoxo,
    Kate

    Hello Kate!

It's funny…a couple of days ago, I was thinking…"I haven't heard from Kate lately" and then lo and behold, your lovely comment! It is a joy to be kindred spirits with you ; ) I have been traveling this week and my Internet has been hit and miss (seems to be a collective theme for us as of late!) so I am happy to get a chance to respond tonight. Where are you based? You'll definitely have to let me know when you're in my neck of the woods…we would have so much fun makeup shopping in LA indeed!

Thanks for your thoughts on TF Nude Vanille…my love for pale lip color has no end, so I think it will be my next purchase, especially now that I am losing my tan gradually (so there won't be so much contrast). The Nude Vanille/Pillow Talk or Two Lips combination sounds perfect!

That is crazy about your company's server…that is just not supposed to happen. It is an intense reminder about how technologically fragile we are. I hope they are able to recover everything without incident!

Your work sounds fascinating…I think I would want to work in law if I wasn't a communication instructor. In a lot of ways, the skill sets for both jobs overlap…helping others, using strategy, being organized, and having verbal acumen and an ability to be persuasive vocally and in writing are necessary and, when they all work together in harmony, are quite satisfying! Keep up the good work ; )

So excited that you are going to try the 6.5 and Nordie's will be the ideal place to from which to procure it! That is great that you have a three day turnaround…that makes ordering online so much more enjoyable. I think that you would like Chintz…it came out a couple of years ago and I believe I bypassed it because I thought it was too dark. How wrong I was! I am not usually a Rouge Coco fan (I bought and promptly returned the lightest color, Comete, when it was first released because it was so drying and rather sheer) but the Chintz is happily surprising me in its creaminess and lasting power. Naked is amazing…it is light, but still has depth and it really adds something to a pale lip color. I also just picked up a MAC lipliner in a shade called Naked (as well!) at the duty free shop in Atlanta…have you seen it? I just swatched it in my most recent blog post (which I did from the veranda of the Homestead in Virginia…peculiar girl in a rocking chair with makeup all over her arm…lovely). It is super pale but adds certain opacity and looks fantastic with a light lip! I bet you'd love it!

I hope the rest of your weekend goes well and look forward to chatting very soon!

    xoxo,

    Hi Beauty Professor!

Quick update – my Maestro foundation arrived today!! I knew it was going to arrive, so I didn't wear foundation to work. The moment the UPS box came, I raced into our office's bathroom and put it on! Lol. Every review I have read is exactly right – it feels like no other "foundation." The texture is amazing. It really does melt into the skin and blend seamlessly. And it absolutely looks like my skin! It is crazy! 6.5 is a perfect match for me, and I am a little pale right now since my self-tanner is wearing off. It feels so light. So far, I really like it. I am curious to see what it will look like as the day wears on.

Also, I just ordered some OCC Lip Tars (I'm a tad late to the party) yesterday. I ordered Hush, Cha Cha and Trick. I saw a swatch of Cha Cha (which is a bright, cantaloupe color) layered with Trick (a nude rose with a hint of brown) and it looked so pretty. I can't wait to get them! Also, I immediately ordered the Naked Liner from MAC after I read your post. It looks perfect for me! I also ordered a Paint Pot in Constructivist. It looks like a chocolate brown copper color.

I will let you know once they arrive! Hope all is well with you and that your week has been good.

    xoxo

    Hello Kate,

I hope your weekend is going well! Thank you for letting me know that your Maestro arrived! I completely understand the need to try something right away…that is why my products never look pristine and untouched when I review them ; ) I am thrilled that 6.5 is a perfect match and that you find the texture as exceptional as I do…I still marvel when I put it on that it gives all sorts of coverage while simultaneously seeming to disappear.

Congrats on your Lip Tar acquisition…I have Hush (and love it) but haven't tried Cha Cha or Trick yet (though they are both super pretty too!). Let me know what you think of them and the MAC Naked when you get it…I am still loving the effect.

After your last comment, I finally just ordered Nude Vanille and cannot wait for its arrival…I also ordered Scarlet Rouge against my better judgement, but was intrigued with its orange/rust undertone…perhaps it will be the "un-red" red for which I have been hunting ; )

Watching any reality TV as of late? What do you think of the (unofficial) announcement that Sean will be the new Bachelor?!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and talk soon!
