Beauty Is Life Cosmopolitan Lipstick

The first floor of Barneys NY in Los Angeles is magical…brimming over with beauty lines both mainstream and rare, one step into this wonderland and it is easy to stay for hours.  One of the rarer cosmetic brands housed within this makeup utopia is German cult favorite, Beauty Is Life.  Founded by Beatrix Isabel Lied in 1978, the line is known for vibrant colors, innovative formulas and professional-grade products used by makeup artists all over the world.

Upon perusal of the BIL lipstick area, I was instantly caught in the tractor beam of Cosmopolitan (33 w-c), a lush, warm, pinky nude.  I confirmed that it did not contain lanolin (to which I am allergic) and promptly bought it!

Retailing for $28, the Beauty Is Life formula is filled with rich botanicals which lend to its moisturizing ability.  The colors are rich in pigment and, while not technically in the “long lasting category,” I find that I get reasonable wear (2-3 hours) from a single application.  This particular color, although somewhat pale, wears evenly and even leaves a light nude pink stain behind once its initial coat has dissipated.  It is of medium thickness and extremely smooth; it also doesn’t leave the dreaded “white ring” behind!

This is such a creamy color…it is like a harmonious blend of Edward Bess Secret Desire and Blush Allure and is perfect for a nude look that doesn’t wash out the face!

The full effect!

Bottom Line: I am so excited about the Beauty Is Life line and believe that Cosmopolitan was the perfect lip color to select first….it is creamy, opaque, hydrating and smells delicious (like warm vanilla). I envision myself using this color frequently and especially like wearing it with a bit of Beauty Is Life gloss in Soho (to be reviewed very soon) on top.  Cosmopolitan is a must have for pale pink nude lovers everywhere!

Thank you, Krystle…you are so sweet! This is fast becoming one of my favorite lipsticks and I am loving the line. As far as I know< Beauty Is Life is only sold in person at Barneys but you can definitely also order it from Barneys online (there is a direct link for it in my post). Do let me know if you have other questions and have a wonderful week.

    Xoxo,
