Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer

If there is a single product in the Sunday Riley line that seems to be unilaterally garnering hype, it is the Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer. Retailing for $48, this oil-free primer boasts the ability to let your skin stay ventilated while simultaneously providing a smoothing effect that evens out skin tone and works alone or under makeup.

Because it is sheerly tinted, this primer comes in three shades: light, medium and dark.

1. Light is suitable for those with fair alabaster and ivory skin tones

2. Medium is suitable for those with light to medium skin tones

3. Dark is suitable for those with tan to dark skin tones

I currently use the "Medium" and find that its sheer texture blends into my skin tone and seems to completely disappear. All that is left is smooth, balanced, and glowing even-toned skin that is more than ready for foundation application.

What I love about this primer, besides its healthy ingredients, including peptides and sodium hyaluronate which enhance skin's texture and moisture, is the fact that it isn't chalky or overly slick and doesn't contain sunscreen. Don't get me wrong, I definitely use sunscreen daily (currently using the lovely SR Cashmere...review soon) but don't necessarily want it in every product that I apply on my face.

Overall, this is a fantastic addition to my daily routine...believe the hype, for it indeed is true.

  3. I've heard so many good things about this! Do you think it would be suitable for an oilier skin type? Also, I've heard a few comments that the light shade isn't light enough for very fair girls - do you think it would be suitable for a GA 3 in Maestro?

    1. Hi Fhionnabhair!

Thanks for the question...actually, I don't think is wonderful for an oilier skin type. Also, the shades do indeed run a bit on the dark side. When I used this, I wore Light (and my skin is light-medium). I suggest the Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge in #1 for you...it is more expensive, but it is also a skincare product (as well as a primer, moisturizer and tinted base) and the illumination it gives is outstanding. It is all I use!!

Take care and hope that helps...xoxo,

  4. Hi BP,

Thank you very much for your suggestions re shades for the By Terry Cover Expert, I will definitely check them out this weekend :) I am also thinking of getting the Sunday Riley primer (unfortunately my local Space NK doesn't stock Sunday Riley products so I would have to buy it online) and I am not sure which shade to go for. Dark seems a little dark for me but I'm worried that medium might be too light. What would you suggest?

    1. My pleasure, Aida! If Dark seems a little dark for you, then I would suggest the Medium...you never want to go too dark with a primer and because it is so sheer, the Medium will likely just blend into your skin tone. Another tinted primer that might match you well is the Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge (much more expensive than the SR but also has additional skincare ingredients) in #3 (which is a bit lighter than the #3 in the SR). Just a suggestion!

I hope that helps...xoxo and have a lovely week,
